The completed car will be transported through the fluorescent tunnel, where defects can be checked under the bright lighting. Plant engineers will then manually examine the car with their hands. Headlamps and their corresponding brightness will also be checked to ensure that they comply with the legal requirements before being driven to the test course.

Toyota wrote the book on quality on a massive scale. Some automakers have only a few models built well, but most Toyota models are at the top or near the top of every segment year after year. Cars are changing and are becoming more software based rather than mechanical. That's why Toyota hasn't been really at the top.
