Fandoms can be brutal like you said. I’ve come across so many vicious comments and shorts posted on UA-cam. Personally Ateez is really the only K-pop group I listen to. I like some BtoB for a different feel but while I don’t dislike Stray kids, Txt etc. I definitely just don’t vibe with them like I do Ateez. That being said I’d never bash on a group I’m not a fan of. The level of toxicity in some fandoms really is crazy, but I like to think those are the rare cases and in general most fans are normal rational people 😂
I think are mostly the most chronically online ones if you go out there, to kpop parties, clubs, festivals, random dances no one is like "WhY ArE ThEy PlAyInG NuGuS mUsIc?" peoplejust go to vibe and have fun and get extra excited when they play their faves.
Problem is that if you are often online and see that kind of problematic people that's what you gonna assume about a fandom but we should know better since every fandom has awesome people and toxic ones

funny how you guys wanted them to make a movie. Ateez's mvs and song choice are base on a real plotline by theirs and some of them have actually acted with other idols. You should check them out, it was so cool and funny at the same time.
