11:49 "Your writing is either great, or it is making you great." That quote alone was worth the watch. Even on days when we're disappointed with what we've written and think it's garbage, we're still making progress, still learning the craft, still fostering a writing habit - the act of writing is never wasted.
"All progress is progress!!" I need to keep pounding that in my head during NaNo. With writing, my internal editor is very creative with all the ways it finds to critique my process. A lot of times its not just the words it harps on, but the number of words, my lack of experience, yada, yada.. I love how you guys remind me to keep the positivity going! Thank you for all the great writerly vibes!!
Yay! I too am a young 14 year old writer and would like to give you a huge thank you and digital hug! I have been watching your videos for 4 years now and they have helped me so much on my writing journey! You are my go to teacher for writing! Thank you so much! I swear I probably would have given up writing if not for your channel! Keep up the good work, you are much valued upon the writing community here on UA-cam! ❤
I am reading a book, where: - Pride and Prejudice was mentioned (the characters are reading it) - they're reading Great Expectations(?), with Estelle and Pip - my name was in the book - and I'm around Halloween (in the book, it's written as a diary) while it's also Halloween😂 Like...i'm gonna throw it away...what the heck...
I kind of forgot to write today (the first day of nanowrimo😭). . .hopefully I can write later today or make up for it sometime. This is my first time doing it!🥰
I find prayer and time with God to be the most effective at switching off from the busyness of the day. So for those who are like me and do not practice yoga or meditation, prayer is a great way too. It’s relaxing and it takes focus of YOU away, and God becomes the focus.
Hello, Abby! I am a 15-year-old girl who is working on writing a book (that I hope to publish sometime next year) and is on the final draft. Writing it was fun, but for having never wrote a book before, sometimes it was difficult for me. Writing dynamic characters, realistic dialogue, and strong villains, are all things I struggled with, but your videos helped me so much! I am now able to publish this book with full confidence of the story! Thank you so much for posting such amazing content! I am so grateful for your videos! Keep up the amazing work!

I’m focusing on finishing the first three mission instalments for the first Tales from Trinity City campaign “Welcome to the Projects”. It’s a tabletop RPG I am creating. This is the first act of the campaign. Currently, I’ve written the full rough draft, and my developmental draft takes the 60k words for the rough draft and greatly expands on it. That is why I am creating the maps for the mission instalments, the areas players will explore, solve puzzles and fight the villains. I’m will finish the detailed revised maps this week. Thank you for this! I've dropped my pen for 2 years now and I guess I really need to go back to writing again by joining nanowrimo since ideas keep piling up in my brain.
Thanks for keeping us on Track...you are our heroes. I Learned of NaNo Wri Mo just by watching your videos...This year I'm going in full throttle. You guys are my lighthouse 🌹🌹
This reminded me of those times in High School where I could write all day, during classes, or at home and pretend that I was doing homework but always being cautious ‘cause my mother would scold me every time I was just wasting ink and paper on that There’s been years Hope I can come back to that feeling again even if it’s not with a novel and just short stories for fun, like before Thank you so so much for this video ✨
I've been able to writing consistently nearly every day for a couple months now (whether it was 35 words or 5000 that day). But as November approaches, I'm realizing I still don't know what story I want to write for it lmao. Really love your writing sprint collections as well. That was something that was helpful for me to get into a consistent pattern and introduced me to new kinds of music to listen to while I write. Which is something I'll always appreciate.
I LOVE Abbie's immersive writing vids -- I have several saved to my NaNo playlist, specifically because they have built-in sprints. Thank you so much for providing them!
I am so thrilled I've found a way to be on track! Your Write With Me videos have =helped me hit my word count every day and find those times to focus, too. It's been so beneficial for finding inspiration!
Oh man, 50,000 words in 30 days? There's no way. I've actually failed my writing goal for the year already because I pretty much haven't written hardly at all all year. I've discovered that I'm really not all that into writing, programming is where my passion lies apparently. I do plan to finish my books though, it's just going to take a while. as a side, I agree that Kate's voice is soothing and beautiful. The same is true of Abbie, I could listen to you both talk for literal days.
I’m not doing NaNoWriMo but the tips from you and your sister will definitely be helpful in getting me focussed enough to start trying to build a consistent writing habit so maybe I’ll be able to get the stories in my brain onto the screen. Thanks for all the great tips
Thank you for your positive encouragement, habits, tips, ideas, and focus hacks. I am using the NaNoWriMo time period to re-immerse myself in my half-written herstory/historical memoir. I imagine this energy community (each individual with their own purposes and intentions for the time period) and we are in a network of loose support. I so appreciate the focus on primarily "writing consistency" vs. daily number of words. Yes, if the intention is word count that's wonderful too. For me, it's about writing consistency and daily creating a space to nurture the creative energy which is surfacing the story gifts (golden nuggets). Thanks too for your unique ideas and tips. I especially like both the meditations for writers and mood playlists (new to me and very valuable). I do meditate regularly but love the direct connection to linking the meditation to the creative muse. I'm seeing my transition to writing time as: organizing my writing space (set-up); a short walk (often valuable) to awaken the muse; then lighting a candle for meditation for writers; beginning to write with a mood playlist softly in the background. At the end of the writing period, I do take a moment to write down ... my next question, thought, step ... or even a string of words or questions ... so I don't lose time when i start writing trying to re-capture where I was going next. Again thank you both ... the perfect offering for the coming month. Best to you as well!
Hey guys, I love that you support the underground railroad, you had me there as to your credibility! I love your take and understanding of story, character and the metanarrative. My one issue is to make sure that you understand that men and women are different. The problem with the "strong female character" is not always that she's one dimensional, but sometimes she's made out to be something that she isn't. Sometimes the "toxic" characteristics can be positive in men, and saving a woman isn't always about her weakness but about his strength. The problem is that our current society doesn't recognize the true strength of femininity and what the female character brings to the table without just making them a man. Looking forward to your story/book!!!!!
I'm so grateful for this video! I find it so hard to juggle between school and writing, especially when I love the latter so much! It was so helpful. Btw, you both look gorgeous
First Nanowrimo for me. Also there is almost no distraction. And my writing time will be in the afternoon when my cats are napping so I'm not distracted by them playing. I hope it works 🙂

That's so cool. I'm writing a Gothic romance set during the Roaring Twenties.
Cool I’m going to next write a novel about the roaring 20s as well!!
@@leeplantlover That's great. Good luck with everything you plan to do. See you :)

I prefer to wear an adult diaper during long writing sessions.
I love your channel but this video seemed too loosey goosey and small talk focused to really help me zero in on how to be more disciplined myself.
It's funny how I'm sitting around thinking how come these youtubers blast videos and podcasts all the time consistently, unaware of the fact that I do that thinking consistently - in my writing journal.
Hi Abbie, how can I contact you privately?
