The bazaar update is completely terrible. Honestly, I'm not sure what this "abundance of gold" they are talking about is. I am not a super casual player and I still have to farm gold nearly every day. Unless you are the 1% of players with maxed out accounts with every pet, gear, etc. you could need, there is still a big need for gold. Pets are an incredibly unfair resource sink that KI has no intentions of changing because of the amount of money it brings them in. There is now 0 items you can farm to sell to the bazaar for gold. I couldn't even imagine being a new player and trying to create brand new wizards with this update

I just started playing the game again this month after having not played it since krysillas came out. My build sucks and I have no money, idk what the hell I'm gonna do. I just wanted a fun nostalgic turn based game to play casually. Idk if casual is gonna be possible
Not every update can do everything- one step a time. The spells is 99% of the focus which is cool. Since we not had proper spells- the only shame is that this world is lvl 170 instead instead of lvl 20. Spell weaving would be sick way to spice up console launch if it was from low lvl If your limited to one trained spell they should remove the cap
@@cyrusvile6622 an update should not do more harm than good, the bazaar change alone is horrible for the game. A lot of the things i mention are easily fixed. Just allow storm and other schools to learn some of their spells. Add new gear to Selenopolis. Etc

As a PvE player this update deeply disappointed me I found out I can't even spell weave into my own school which is probably one of the biggest gripes I have with the update. I think your right that the spell weaving system is a dead on launch concept for PvE players because why would anyone want to weave into a school that is not their own? It's like you have the gear meant for your PRIMARY SCHOOL why use a spell that doesn't accomidate to your gear? Not to mention but you also have to have the other school's spell trained so your really using 2 training points just to learn the new spell instead of 1 It really makes the whole system seem pointless from a PvE standpoint. As for the Bazzar situation it's really a shame that fhe devs want to kill an existing market that I use and many other wizards do too I'm interested to see how this will affect Gamma's trading post since emps will become dirt cheap
I miss old wiz from 5 years ago😢. Came back to roshambo being the new class identity and all I see is I counter your counter or I will use your buffs against you. Duo schooling sounded fun back then but not what I was expecting. I’d be hopeful if they can somewhat figure out some way to make the game more enjoyable again instead of just saying hey this is how the game is going to be now so good luck. Imo this feels like someone who played another game like wow and is trying to incorporate those ideas into wiz.
No there isnt a logical inconsistency, those quests are not a part of the mainline Selenopolis. They are side quests to get the spells. There is no incentive to do the main story of selenopolis
@@michaelfarnes4011 That would be like saying fighting cheating bosses is the incentive to do arc one. if that is how you do things, you will burn out the players really fast. getting gear, pets, anything like that is incentive, the next world is not the reward, it is the next struggle.

@@michaelfarnes4011 I think you just proved his point. Nobody complained about having to do the Old One's quests to enter Lemuria because there were only a few of them. The way they have you interact with old characters in Selenopolis like Dyvim Whiteheart and Melori without increasing the level cap and force you to fight several very hard cheating bosses proves his point: A lot of content that is mandatory to continue the main Wizard101 story that makes no effing sense.
Their 100+ spells includes spellement path revamps for one, And at 170 with the pin system, dual schooling is effective. I know people dont look at it this way, but as a card game, this is a BIG change. Being able to mix and match cards for a new deck and new strategies, that's a great idea. And complaining creatures spam plagues and shields is a dumb argument. Ever played a card game? Magic the Gathering has the color blue, notorious for counterplay. Asking for enemies you can steamroll with no effort will make the game boring and kill combat. I like the fact the game is pushing players to get out of the "Blade into 7 pip AoE" for every fight. New content can also be a good thing, and people need to stop bashing things because it's different. If an enemy does counterplay, that's the nature of card games. I like the fact we're finally getting dual school options, and Spellements also incentivize dual schooling because there's off school spells that can buff your main school. An upgraded Cyclopse for example puts DoT traps on creatures if they have DoTs, so a fire has more trap options. Plus the chromatic symbol is great for things like Keeper of Flame, and now suddenly a Fire/Myth dual suddenly has more trap options. Fire's really good at trapping, and Myth gives fire more of that, for example. I know saying "I have fun dual schooling" isn't a good argument, but it's a nice refreshing change of pace from my usual style of play, and I think the game needs more of that. Giving players options to dual into things and add variety to their combat sounds like a great idea to me. HOWEVER... I was expecting brand new spell quests for the spell fusion system, just like Arc 1 did with it's spell quests. I remember if I wanted my 7 pip AoE for balance it required me to go work, and kill the plague oni. it was a LOT of work, but also rewarding. Plus, my 7 pip AoE quest on my balance is COMPLETELY different than my Necromancer's quest, where I go collect liquid nightmares, so there's variety. I DIDN'T want another thing to grind out. This game has far too many things you need to grind, and there's no variety anymore. THAT'S the problem. Spell fusions require grinding out random fights, not using your cards or the wizard you crafted? Come on, that's baloney. Plus, the barrier to entry into spell fusions is too big. And finally, killing the bazaar and killing viable ways to make gold is such a terrible idea. I like the search feature, but KI, people made the "Empower Black Market" BECAUSE you made gold impossible to farm for otherwise. If you wanna kill the "Empower" market, you need to make better ways to get gold. You took a step in the right direction when you made a Karamelle boss in the "Rating's Board" dungeon give 20k gold per run. More bosses in longer winded dungeons NEED to drop more than 100-200 gold per run, seriously. You're telling me at best, the final boss in the Wizard City Catacombs gives me 60-ish gold? Come on... If they wanna go through with this update, they need to make a few changes. And I feel like if you wanna point out problems, you need to offer solutions: 1) Make Spellements less grindy to farm for. The only way to dual school effectively is collecting pins, having good 170 gear, AND upgrade spells via spellements. That's WAYY too much to grind for. I've been able to grind it out, and dual schooling is actually really fun. BUT, the amount of effort to get there was such a headache, and with "Portal of Problems" being the only spellement farm, that's an issue. I think spellement upgrade costs need to be SERIOUSLY cheaper. 2) FIX YOUR PITY SYSTEMS FOR GODS SAKES. The pity systems you have in places like Novus are the absolute worse. I have millions of reagents, but because I dont got these shoes, I cant craft this thing? The cost for converting items should, at most, be 2 to 1, MAYBE 3 to 1. (2/3 boots for 1 boot of your choosing). 9 is asking too much. I know MMOs ask to take a lot of a player's time to do things, but you've literally got timegates into timegates into farms. (Keys, to bosses, to spellement farm) which are DREADFUL. Actually here: 3) Drop rates NEED to feel rewarding. I HATE spending hours of my time farming for stuff and getting dogwater. My time in this game is not respected, and these updates have been making the game progressively more grindy, and disregards a player's time. GOD FORBID I gotta make a new account. That takes too zamn long. This game is grinding player's patience into the ground to do anything, and players are finally starting to get sick of it. 4) Revive actual spell quests. Having a fun story reason to get a spell is far more engaging than grinding a trash mob for several hours just to get items to craft a spell. Want new quest content, there ya go? I dont think Harry Potter collected 40 glass vials and 6 amber just to use "Leviosa". No he learned it through study, you know... The original point of Arc 1 Wizard101? 5) STOP BREAKING YOUR GAME AND FIX YOUR GARBAGE! KI has had several updates, in both Pirate and Wiz, that are completely broken. You broke combat, Animations in pirate are STILL not working properly, and your games are progressively getting more buggy. At this point, I'd rather the devs spend a year or two FIXING the game and improving the half-baked content they have over adding a new world. STOP ADDING NEW CONTENT THAT'S BAD. Fishing is still dooky and latency is a problem. Farming is a nightmare, and cantrips are a literal waste of time and energy (the resource). And pet training is the literal definition of insanity. And there's no reward for completing the job that's Wizard101 endgame, there's a check that says "Take a bath, you're fired." Because right now, this game is a job, and you're paying THEM for the privilege of being their workaholic dummy. Remember when players complained about visiting every world to collect the pieces of the Dragonrider staff to fight Malistaire in Dragonspyre..? Man why cant we go back to that, at least it was engaging and fun...
I disagree with your points on the new area and spell fusion. I feel like since we are already 170 it’s easy to complain about no level cap increase and how it’s an extension of krok instead of a fresh world. As for new players or players still questing in arc 1 they won’t even be able to compare this update to anything because they haven’t reached 170…. So I feel like it all depends on who the player is! Imo I love this update. I love the idea of expanding krok and I love the idea of spell fusion…. Will I ever use it? Maybe who knows BUT I definitely feel like the spell fusion is more beneficial for PvP players vs PvE. So overall, I feel like we shouldn’t trash this update completely. Especially with saying “less is more”… I am one to always use this saying! However with wizard101 I think it’s great they are making this big of an update seeing as they haven’t done an update like this before… it will be great for the game overall especially since players have an option to use spell fusion. So you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. I understand the questing is mandatory but it does add more love and story to the game! @@Alessiaaaa333 i mention in the video that spell fusion is yes intended for pvp, but the catch of the update or the hook was “100+” new spells, and while yes i wasnt expecting to learn that many, but a new feature like spell fusion should have more customization than being a tool only for dual schooling, as for Selenopolis, its the least of my concerns but there really should be an incentive to actually play through it. I think the story and such is great but why would i play it when i have no reason to, and why do we have to play it to do Arc 5
@@Wizheadpluto I hear you! The excitement for 100+ new spells is a let down when you notice it’s specifically for spell weaving which some people don’t want to take part in. Also, I totally understand it can seem annoying that it’s forced to quest through in order to move on in the story… although I do feel like it’s all preference at the end of the day… whether someone prefers a new world or an extension + more lore to an already existing world. As for me I’m really excited to quest through selenopolis. I love fresh content even if it’s an extension of an arc 1 world :) but I can understand and see how it’s annoying for some players who just want a new world and a level cap increase…. But it is their off year! So there was no new world or level cap increase anyways… in that case I think what they’re doing is good for the game in order to expand and bring new features, making it more creative for players.
I think spell fusion is a cool idea but the grinding for it is absurd. If it was a lot easier to obtain then i think the limited amount of spells you can learn would be a lot less painful.
Main Discussion should be what is a game intended for.... For majority its for a break where you join your family, friends or by yourself spend and enjoy leisurely time. Majority of player will not have enough time to grind everting. Before we had gear to grind which was fine.Till Drakmoore or Catacombs. Weekends could be used to get best gear in the game and player would have mind to try other side activities and can as they have fair chance with gear stats and spells. Then came spellements which I felt the grind like crazy of a grind unless you spent crowns. then came raids which give best gears how ever blocked behind guilds, without any regard for solo players or player who cannot join raid due to time / zone limitations Need to find a guild that does raid in your time or hey packs again. now making a gold grind too might as well quit.

But within that same vein, saying the whole Update is bad is very inaccurate. There are parts that are bad (Mostly the Rework to the Bazaar, we all can agree on that) but there's also a lot of good things in this update (Like the Spellweaving)
Remember, its not too late to update the level cap to 180 right now. Then add enough xp to level from 170-180 in a quest turn in after completing the world (talking to Merle Ambrose). Still can be fixed!!!
I don't understand why this video got so much hate. You made good points about the lack of quality from Kingsisle as of late and how lackluster the updates have been. I've been playing this game since 08 and it's absolutely baffling how little QA testing occurs before updates go to live realm. There are too many bugs to list at the time of posting this comment. It's also insane how much glazing goes on in the official Wizard101 discord towards the developers. You can't criticize anything without getting backlash from the mods or other community members simply because it's criticism. I have seen time and time again KI adding new features to the game just to half-ass and abandon years later (gardening, fishing, monstrology, cantrips, to name a few), and I'm sure magic weaving/spell fusion will be no exception. With all the money I and many players spend on subscriptions and crowns, we should demand better from a multi-million dollar company. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I'm just gonna say it. I love this update. I didn't really like the Bazaar update but who knows, maybe Kingsisle will help us find other ways to get gold. It's really the only thing I didn't like. Selenopolis is BEAUTIFUL. The revamp of Krokotopia is BEAUTIFUL. From what I remember you do need to quest in Selenopolis to continue into the next arc. I didn't quest the entirety of it bc its bugged but honestly this was a fun adventure. I was a bit bummed I didn't get to try out my new death spell bc that quest was bugged too but maybe next week once its fixed. This update has amazing potential to be great. Not perfect but great. A 8.5 out of 10 for me because the Bazaar update has got to go.

@@Wizheadpluto Well you get spellements for your new spell and there is cantrip chests everywhere in Selenopolis that you can collect for your new spell. Is that not incentive for you? Also about the new gear, it provides an alternative for people that don't want to farm nightmare dungeon anymore. You can get the new reagents from the bosses in Selenopolis. I think that's a pretty good incentive for me.
I can't speak on the spell fusion mechanic, but the bazaar change is actually horrible. Making the game a lot more grindy across the board is not a good change. If they want to get rid of the black market, just nerf the sell price of empowers and any other tcs that might replace it. It would suck to get rid of being able to give money to other players, but at least it wouldn't prevent all other forms of independently making money from the bazaar (selling snacks/reagents/gear)
from what i understand, I believe that you technically learn 2 spells. You can learn 1 utility spell and 1 fusion recipe, in which to get the fusion card you combine the two cards while in a fight. While i doubt the Fusion spells will have any practical purpose outside of pvp, I think the utility spells can be useful in both pve and raiding as they are basically pre-enchanted stackable buffs. However, everything else i would agree with you on. There is no actual reason to do the world outside of it being mandatory. The gear is just equivalent to reaver gear and the jewels are basically equivalent to wallaru jewels with slight differences.

It’s another cool mechanic on paper locked behind a grindfest so you use crowns for speeding through it or to buy spells that are better ☠️. Every time they do something like this I just have to ask if they even play their own game, because who thinks fighting bosses for half a hour for ONE SPELL is fun. They have repeatedly done something like this: Moon spells-Cool concept, but missed the mark. Sad thing is easy fix would just be you keep your stats but gain a 40% dmg or healing buff depending on the school. Monstrology-Again cool concept, but again missed the mark. Should of just made it where you use the monstrology drops to upgrade your schools minions into a permanent spell upgrade. Along with adding the option to make your minion pass, it would of added a new way to play pve (since most minions are pvp locked anyway) Spell fusion:This whole grindfest again missed the mark. I feel like they should of worked more like cheats, since bosses can do the kind of thing all the time, but I guess the wizard, who lore wise is literally the chosen one by the gods who made the world, can’t 🤷♂️. At this point I don’t want to give up on the game because it was one of the first pc games i played as a kid, but the spark this game had is gone, replaced with gambling and micro transactions.
This video is on point. The spell weaving is a great idea but I wish they would’ve done it drastically different. You said it yourself, whatever the meta is for weaving every..single..wizard is going to be running the same exact spell. Whatever is meta. I’m a myth,maxed damage end game gear etc etc. and I wanted to go fire UNTIL I heard storm would be the meta. Now if I DON’T go storm the elitest players, which there are plenty of, are going to belittle or shame me for it. And don’t even get me started on how literally useless spell weaving is for PvE. 100% of the time in PvE there will be a way better card to use for literally any situation. Using a spell weaving spell in any sort of PvE battle will NEVER be ideal. Now for PvP? Oh absolutely usable. But the problem with that, is like I stated earlier, there will be a meta where if you don’t run the meta spell you’ll be at a disadvantage. Sadly even the new PvE spells aren’t that great. I don’t care about the no new level cap or no different stat gear etc etc. personally I don’t mind it. But the spell weaving system will eventually need to be redone or else this update will be one of the worst in wizard101’s history.
It doesn’t need to be a level cap increase, im perfectly fine with it not actually, but there does need to be more incentive, maybe new gear, new jewels, new something. Just give us something

Give us a gold bank, make it so we can trade gear, snacks, reagents between each other. Every time we suggest these things they use some half baked justification as to why we can't get it.
Major flaw is no new rewards for completing the new side content. All the other stuff is just filler, throwing shit at the wall hoping it sticks.. This update like every update will be released with a lot of bugs, this being a major update I'm definitely guessing there'll be MANY bugs. Will probably skip this update unless they make the gear worth it.

You are exaggerating. Krok got a texture revamp and looks incredible. Wizard city is free now. 7 cool new spells you get in Selenopolis. Mono fusions are sick and the spell animations are sick. 42 different questlines with unique boss battles for each school you weave into. We also usually dont get a level cap increase between arcs. They did this after khrysalis and empyrea. I agree the spell weaving fusions are underwhelming but credit is still due where credit is due. I am also glad we dont have to grind for gear this year.

Yeah I never thought about the bazaar system, it can be even seen as covering the critical things for the community with bright, colorfull and useless things that we won't use anyway. It's very sad the way this game is going, slowly going to its downfall without telling us why. Like if they are removing that system it would be for something better to replace it, but they are just erasing it along with who knows how much people.

With your “putting all that time into these spells only for the player to get one spell” I think they should get rid of spell quests because I can’t do the other 6 quests I should just be given the spell. The only complaint about the world that was stated was that it is like krok and it was “boring”, however this is likely just out of anger from the other systems and of course the nostalgia blindness about the graphic update. Questing itself is always the same if you just aoe it’s just as fun or boring as any other world was depending on if you like 2 rounding everything
I agree! I have no intention of using or trying to get these spells. I only use 7-20 spells in the entire game. Blade, sharpen blade, faint, potent trap, AOE (lvl 22 or 48) , star/sun, heal and a handful of other cards from beginning to end. I even skip darkmoore, spell and gear. Using these new spells will bog down your deck. Every battle you'll need at least 2 more cards to hit once. Can you boast DMG with sun (or star I forget) spells? Do you have the right blades, traps, gear or stats to capitalize on them? Was the game too hard before them? Will the game be too easy with them? Will the game become harder now with these supposedly useful, necessary and fun editions? What a waste of time. 😔🤬😤
@@jjj-q2g there are some storm spells that i may have actually considered using in this update. One is a good 6 pip AOE. But unfortunately I cant use them whatsoever!
Disappointed this spell fusion shit is high level, dual school technically begins in dragonspyre I believe because you can get dual school gear so this is ridiculous! You should be able to fuse spells by the start of arc 2 at latest

@@Wizheadpluto you can switch in between to match your play style so you have access to a big pool. The gambit is the part that will allow people to be creative. I think its rly smart of them to not have to focus each update on every player. Especially when they have been pushing worlds and PVE content disproportionately.
Honestly this is the worst take I have heard in my life, kingisle cooked with this update whether it was intended for pvp or pve. The new spells are dope, the new quests are dope, the updated krok is incredible. The story is good, the fights are good simple sugar. I know for a fact you uploaded this for hate bait to get attention because you are desperate and clearly it worked lol. But like come on anyone with common sense can see kingisle did good work here and they deserve recognition for it.
A main complaint im hearing with no level cap no improved gear spellweaving too long for one spell etc is no incentive but this is a video game you play for fun not for a number on the screen to go up or to get better stats for the next update if you actually need some sort of incentive like that you have a problem with playing games

If they make changes that are significant enough i will make a video praising them about it. Theyve done it in the past, a garbage update released on test and everything was fixed afterwards. They can do it again. I watched the entire thing. This UPDATE IS ABSOLUTELY COOKED! and the commenters are Weird bro. not gonna deny the world looks good but idk why i still like old Krokotopia better. i doubt kingsisle cares and probably will most likely just release it anyway despite the backlash. i've just just grown to realize that no matter what you do Kingsisle is Stubborn as a mule and won't ever listen. and this update gonna just go through without a second thought. because they just wanna destroy the empower market despite it only hurting absolutely no one except the people who of course bot regents out the bazaar and other tc out of the bazaar. this update is overall worse because of those steps back. the World looks absolutely Really good. it's just that those steps back completely ruin it and all it had to offer.
So if the fusion mechanic works like you say it does, and you haven't given me reason yet to distrust you, then I am baffled as to why you are limited on how many you can learn. I thought they would just let you learn what you wanted as long as you have training points. As for your comments on Selenopolis I'm not really sure how to take your criticism as I haven't experienced it, but as you've described it I really don't think I would mind the challenges you've mentioned. We'll just see how it goes. Honestly if they are going to change the bazaar the way they have then they ought to keep the sell prices fixed and then simply demote the price in the bazaar as the vendor receives more items. I feel that would be a happy medium.
@@gottesurteil3201 the “challenge” is mentioned isnt part of Selenopolis. Its the process to upgrade magic weaving, ie to get 1 or 2 spells you have to put hours in for no reason its ridiculous. Selenopolis is the least of my concerns which is why i started with it.

This update did some incredible things. the mark and Recall change wasnt even necessary but it was an amazing QOL change, if they fix the problems with the Bazaar that I addressed then I think the UI change is great, as for Krok Graphics, i think some areas look a little weird and too smooth but thats a nitpick, 90% of the graphical changes and areas look incredible. Being able to inspect whats in packs and second chance chests shouldve been added a long time ago, its great that its being added now. Spell fusion and Selenopolis i want to like, I really do, but there are problems in how they are implemented in my opinion, if those are fixed then i think both would be great as well.

The bazaar update is completely terrible. Honestly, I'm not sure what this "abundance of gold" they are talking about is. I am not a super casual player and I still have to farm gold nearly every day. Unless you are the 1% of players with maxed out accounts with every pet, gear, etc. you could need, there is still a big need for gold. Pets are an incredibly unfair resource sink that KI has no intentions of changing because of the amount of money it brings them in. There is now 0 items you can farm to sell to the bazaar for gold. I couldn't even imagine being a new player and trying to create brand new wizards with this update

I just started playing the game again this month after having not played it since krysillas came out. My build sucks and I have no money, idk what the hell I'm gonna do. I just wanted a fun nostalgic turn based game to play casually. Idk if casual is gonna be possible
Not every update can do everything- one step a time. The spells is 99% of the focus which is cool. Since we not had proper spells- the only shame is that this world is lvl 170 instead instead of lvl 20.
Spell weaving would be sick way to spice up console launch if it was from low lvl
If your limited to one trained spell they should remove the cap

@@RiverSoulRiderAre you stupid? KI hasn’t officially announced making wiz city free or Krokotopia free. Just because it’s labeled that way in the Atmoplex files means nothing until KI pulls the trigger so they may still very well get cold feet not to mention they could still f-ck up somehow.
As a PvE player this update deeply disappointed me I found out I can't even spell weave into my own school which is probably one of the biggest gripes I have with the update. I think your right that the spell weaving system is a dead on launch concept for PvE players because why would anyone want to weave into a school that is not their own? It's like you have the gear meant for your PRIMARY SCHOOL why use a spell that doesn't accomidate to your gear? Not to mention but you also have to have the other school's spell trained so your really using 2 training points just to learn the new spell instead of 1 It really makes the whole system seem pointless from a PvE standpoint. As for the Bazzar situation it's really a shame that fhe devs want to kill an existing market that I use and many other wizards do too I'm interested to see how this will affect Gamma's trading post since emps will become dirt cheap
I miss old wiz from 5 years ago😢. Came back to roshambo being the new class identity and all I see is I counter your counter or I will use your buffs against you. Duo schooling sounded fun back then but not what I was expecting. I’d be hopeful if they can somewhat figure out some way to make the game more enjoyable again instead of just saying hey this is how the game is going to be now so good luck. Imo this feels like someone who played another game like wow and is trying to incorporate those ideas into wiz.

No there isnt a logical inconsistency, those quests are not a part of the mainline Selenopolis. They are side quests to get the spells. There is no incentive to do the main story of selenopolis

@@michaelfarnes4011 I think you just proved his point. Nobody complained about having to do the Old One's quests to enter Lemuria because there were only a few of them. The way they have you interact with old characters in Selenopolis like Dyvim Whiteheart and Melori without increasing the level cap and force you to fight several very hard cheating bosses proves his point: A lot of content that is mandatory to continue the main Wizard101 story that makes no effing sense.
Their 100+ spells includes spellement path revamps for one, And at 170 with the pin system, dual schooling is effective. I know people dont look at it this way, but as a card game, this is a BIG change. Being able to mix and match cards for a new deck and new strategies, that's a great idea. And complaining creatures spam plagues and shields is a dumb argument. Ever played a card game? Magic the Gathering has the color blue, notorious for counterplay. Asking for enemies you can steamroll with no effort will make the game boring and kill combat. I like the fact the game is pushing players to get out of the "Blade into 7 pip AoE" for every fight. New content can also be a good thing, and people need to stop bashing things because it's different. If an enemy does counterplay, that's the nature of card games. I like the fact we're finally getting dual school options, and Spellements also incentivize dual schooling because there's off school spells that can buff your main school. An upgraded Cyclopse for example puts DoT traps on creatures if they have DoTs, so a fire has more trap options. Plus the chromatic symbol is great for things like Keeper of Flame, and now suddenly a Fire/Myth dual suddenly has more trap options. Fire's really good at trapping, and Myth gives fire more of that, for example. I know saying "I have fun dual schooling" isn't a good argument, but it's a nice refreshing change of pace from my usual style of play, and I think the game needs more of that. Giving players options to dual into things and add variety to their combat sounds like a great idea to me.
HOWEVER... I was expecting brand new spell quests for the spell fusion system, just like Arc 1 did with it's spell quests. I remember if I wanted my 7 pip AoE for balance it required me to go work, and kill the plague oni. it was a LOT of work, but also rewarding. Plus, my 7 pip AoE quest on my balance is COMPLETELY different than my Necromancer's quest, where I go collect liquid nightmares, so there's variety. I DIDN'T want another thing to grind out. This game has far too many things you need to grind, and there's no variety anymore. THAT'S the problem. Spell fusions require grinding out random fights, not using your cards or the wizard you crafted? Come on, that's baloney. Plus, the barrier to entry into spell fusions is too big.
And finally, killing the bazaar and killing viable ways to make gold is such a terrible idea. I like the search feature, but KI, people made the "Empower Black Market" BECAUSE you made gold impossible to farm for otherwise. If you wanna kill the "Empower" market, you need to make better ways to get gold. You took a step in the right direction when you made a Karamelle boss in the "Rating's Board" dungeon give 20k gold per run. More bosses in longer winded dungeons NEED to drop more than 100-200 gold per run, seriously. You're telling me at best, the final boss in the Wizard City Catacombs gives me 60-ish gold? Come on...
If they wanna go through with this update, they need to make a few changes. And I feel like if you wanna point out problems, you need to offer solutions:
1) Make Spellements less grindy to farm for. The only way to dual school effectively is collecting pins, having good 170 gear, AND upgrade spells via spellements. That's WAYY too much to grind for. I've been able to grind it out, and dual schooling is actually really fun. BUT, the amount of effort to get there was such a headache, and with "Portal of Problems" being the only spellement farm, that's an issue. I think spellement upgrade costs need to be SERIOUSLY cheaper.
2) FIX YOUR PITY SYSTEMS FOR GODS SAKES. The pity systems you have in places like Novus are the absolute worse. I have millions of reagents, but because I dont got these shoes, I cant craft this thing? The cost for converting items should, at most, be 2 to 1, MAYBE 3 to 1. (2/3 boots for 1 boot of your choosing). 9 is asking too much. I know MMOs ask to take a lot of a player's time to do things, but you've literally got timegates into timegates into farms. (Keys, to bosses, to spellement farm) which are DREADFUL. Actually here:
3) Drop rates NEED to feel rewarding. I HATE spending hours of my time farming for stuff and getting dogwater. My time in this game is not respected, and these updates have been making the game progressively more grindy, and disregards a player's time. GOD FORBID I gotta make a new account. That takes too zamn long. This game is grinding player's patience into the ground to do anything, and players are finally starting to get sick of it.
4) Revive actual spell quests. Having a fun story reason to get a spell is far more engaging than grinding a trash mob for several hours just to get items to craft a spell. Want new quest content, there ya go? I dont think Harry Potter collected 40 glass vials and 6 amber just to use "Leviosa". No he learned it through study, you know... The original point of Arc 1 Wizard101?
5) STOP BREAKING YOUR GAME AND FIX YOUR GARBAGE! KI has had several updates, in both Pirate and Wiz, that are completely broken. You broke combat, Animations in pirate are STILL not working properly, and your games are progressively getting more buggy. At this point, I'd rather the devs spend a year or two FIXING the game and improving the half-baked content they have over adding a new world. STOP ADDING NEW CONTENT THAT'S BAD. Fishing is still dooky and latency is a problem. Farming is a nightmare, and cantrips are a literal waste of time and energy (the resource). And pet training is the literal definition of insanity. And there's no reward for completing the job that's Wizard101 endgame, there's a check that says "Take a bath, you're fired." Because right now, this game is a job, and you're paying THEM for the privilege of being their workaholic dummy. Remember when players complained about visiting every world to collect the pieces of the Dragonrider staff to fight Malistaire in Dragonspyre..? Man why cant we go back to that, at least it was engaging and fun...

I disagree with your points on the new area and spell fusion. I feel like since we are already 170 it’s easy to complain about no level cap increase and how it’s an extension of krok instead of a fresh world. As for new players or players still questing in arc 1 they won’t even be able to compare this update to anything because they haven’t reached 170…. So I feel like it all depends on who the player is! Imo I love this update. I love the idea of expanding krok and I love the idea of spell fusion…. Will I ever use it? Maybe who knows BUT I definitely feel like the spell fusion is more beneficial for PvP players vs PvE. So overall, I feel like we shouldn’t trash this update completely. Especially with saying “less is more”… I am one to always use this saying! However with wizard101 I think it’s great they are making this big of an update seeing as they haven’t done an update like this before… it will be great for the game overall especially since players have an option to use spell fusion. So you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. I understand the questing is mandatory but it does add more love and story to the game! I’m sure they’ll fix the bugs before they launch it to live realm as this is test realm for a reason.

@@Wizheadpluto I hear you! The excitement for 100+ new spells is a let down when you notice it’s specifically for spell weaving which some people don’t want to take part in. Also, I totally understand it can seem annoying that it’s forced to quest through in order to move on in the story… although I do feel like it’s all preference at the end of the day… whether someone prefers a new world or an extension + more lore to an already existing world. As for me I’m really excited to quest through selenopolis. I love fresh content even if it’s an extension of an arc 1 world :) but I can understand and see how it’s annoying for some players who just want a new world and a level cap increase…. But it is their off year! So there was no new world or level cap increase anyways… in that case I think what they’re doing is good for the game in order to expand and bring new features, making it more creative for players.

I think spell fusion is a cool idea but the grinding for it is absurd. If it was a lot easier to obtain then i think the limited amount of spells you can learn would be a lot less painful.

For majority its for a break where you join your family, friends or by yourself spend and enjoy leisurely time.
Majority of player will not have enough time to grind everting. Before we had gear to grind which was fine.Till Drakmoore or Catacombs. Weekends could be used to get best gear in the game and player would have mind to try other side activities and can as they have fair chance with gear stats and spells. Then came spellements which I felt the grind like crazy of a grind unless you spent crowns. then came raids which give best gears how ever blocked behind guilds, without any regard for solo players or player who cannot join raid due to time / zone limitations Need to find a guild that does raid in your time or hey packs again. now making a gold grind too might as well quit.
I agree, the story in this new update is very interesting, it hints at arc 5 too

Remember, its not too late to update the level cap to 180 right now. Then add enough xp to level from 170-180 in a quest turn in after completing the world (talking to Merle Ambrose). Still can be fixed!!!
I don't understand why this video got so much hate. You made good points about the lack of quality from Kingsisle as of late and how lackluster the updates have been. I've been playing this game since 08 and it's absolutely baffling how little QA testing occurs before updates go to live realm. There are too many bugs to list at the time of posting this comment. It's also insane how much glazing goes on in the official Wizard101 discord towards the developers. You can't criticize anything without getting backlash from the mods or other community members simply because it's criticism. I have seen time and time again KI adding new features to the game just to half-ass and abandon years later (gardening, fishing, monstrology, cantrips, to name a few), and I'm sure magic weaving/spell fusion will be no exception. With all the money I and many players spend on subscriptions and crowns, we should demand better from a multi-million dollar company. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I'm just gonna say it. I love this update. I didn't really like the Bazaar update but who knows, maybe Kingsisle will help us find other ways to get gold. It's really the only thing I didn't like. Selenopolis is BEAUTIFUL. The revamp of Krokotopia is BEAUTIFUL. From what I remember you do need to quest in Selenopolis to continue into the next arc. I didn't quest the entirety of it bc its bugged but honestly this was a fun adventure. I was a bit bummed I didn't get to try out my new death spell bc that quest was bugged too but maybe next week once its fixed. This update has amazing potential to be great. Not perfect but great. A 8.5 out of 10 for me because the Bazaar update has got to go.

@@Wizheadpluto Well you get spellements for your new spell and there is cantrip chests everywhere in Selenopolis that you can collect for your new spell. Is that not incentive for you? Also about the new gear, it provides an alternative for people that don't want to farm nightmare dungeon anymore. You can get the new reagents from the bosses in Selenopolis. I think that's a pretty good incentive for me.
I can't speak on the spell fusion mechanic, but the bazaar change is actually horrible. Making the game a lot more grindy across the board is not a good change. If they want to get rid of the black market, just nerf the sell price of empowers and any other tcs that might replace it.
It would suck to get rid of being able to give money to other players, but at least it wouldn't prevent all other forms of independently making money from the bazaar (selling snacks/reagents/gear)
from what i understand, I believe that you technically learn 2 spells. You can learn 1 utility spell and 1 fusion recipe, in which to get the fusion card you combine the two cards while in a fight. While i doubt the Fusion spells will have any practical purpose outside of pvp, I think the utility spells can be useful in both pve and raiding as they are basically pre-enchanted stackable buffs.
However, everything else i would agree with you on. There is no actual reason to do the world outside of it being mandatory. The gear is just equivalent to reaver gear and the jewels are basically equivalent to wallaru jewels with slight differences.

It’s another cool mechanic on paper locked behind a grindfest so you use crowns for speeding through it or to buy spells that are better ☠️. Every time they do something like this I just have to ask if they even play their own game, because who thinks fighting bosses for half a hour for ONE SPELL is fun. They have repeatedly done something like this:
Moon spells-Cool concept, but missed the mark. Sad thing is easy fix would just be you keep your stats but gain a 40% dmg or healing buff depending on the school.
Monstrology-Again cool concept, but again missed the mark. Should of just made it where you use the monstrology drops to upgrade your schools minions into a permanent spell upgrade. Along with adding the option to make your minion pass, it would of added a new way to play pve (since most minions are pvp locked anyway)
Spell fusion:This whole grindfest again missed the mark. I feel like they should of worked more like cheats, since bosses can do the kind of thing all the time, but I guess the wizard, who lore wise is literally the chosen one by the gods who made the world, can’t 🤷♂️. At this point I don’t want to give up on the game because it was one of the first pc games i played as a kid, but the spark this game had is gone, replaced with gambling and micro transactions.
This video is on point. The spell weaving is a great idea but I wish they would’ve done it drastically different. You said it yourself, whatever the meta is for weaving every..single..wizard is going to be running the same exact spell. Whatever is meta. I’m a myth,maxed damage end game gear etc etc. and I wanted to go fire UNTIL I heard storm would be the meta. Now if I DON’T go storm the elitest players, which there are plenty of, are going to belittle or shame me for it. And don’t even get me started on how literally useless spell weaving is for PvE. 100% of the time in PvE there will be a way better card to use for literally any situation. Using a spell weaving spell in any sort of PvE battle will NEVER be ideal. Now for PvP? Oh absolutely usable. But the problem with that, is like I stated earlier, there will be a meta where if you don’t run the meta spell you’ll be at a disadvantage. Sadly even the new PvE spells aren’t that great. I don’t care about the no new level cap or no different stat gear etc etc. personally I don’t mind it. But the spell weaving system will eventually need to be redone or else this update will be one of the worst in wizard101’s history.

Give us a gold bank, make it so we can trade gear, snacks, reagents between each other. Every time we suggest these things they use some half baked justification as to why we can't get it.

Major flaw is no new rewards for completing the new side content. All the other stuff is just filler, throwing shit at the wall hoping it sticks.. This update like every update will be released with a lot of bugs, this being a major update I'm definitely guessing there'll be MANY bugs. Will probably skip this update unless they make the gear worth it.
The amount of ignorance and KI shilling in this comments section is as awful and scary as the fact that we have incompentent, greedy, out-of-touch with the playerbase devs. Yikes with the people in these comments defending a an update that does more harm than good and doesn’t even appeal to most of the playerbase when these spells are 99% PvP focused.

You are exaggerating. Krok got a texture revamp and looks incredible. Wizard city is free now. 7 cool new spells you get in Selenopolis. Mono fusions are sick and the spell animations are sick. 42 different questlines with unique boss battles for each school you weave into. We also usually dont get a level cap increase between arcs. They did this after khrysalis and empyrea. I agree the spell weaving fusions are underwhelming but credit is still due where credit is due. I am also glad we dont have to grind for gear this year.

Yeah I never thought about the bazaar system, it can be even seen as covering the critical things for the community with bright, colorfull and useless things that we won't use anyway. It's very sad the way this game is going, slowly going to its downfall without telling us why. Like if they are removing that system it would be for something better to replace it, but they are just erasing it along with who knows how much people.
Kingsisle wants to shut down their game without shutting it down. They are just giving out trash update after trash update.

The only complaint about the world that was stated was that it is like krok and it was “boring”, however this is likely just out of anger from the other systems and of course the nostalgia blindness about the graphic update. Questing itself is always the same if you just aoe it’s just as fun or boring as any other world was depending on if you like 2 rounding everything

I agree! I have no intention of using or trying to get these spells. I only use 7-20 spells in the entire game. Blade, sharpen blade, faint, potent trap, AOE (lvl 22 or 48) , star/sun, heal and a handful of other cards from beginning to end. I even skip darkmoore, spell and gear. Using these new spells will bog down your deck. Every battle you'll need at least 2 more cards to hit once. Can you boast DMG with sun (or star I forget) spells? Do you have the right blades, traps, gear or stats to capitalize on them? Was the game too hard before them? Will the game be too easy with them? Will the game become harder now with these supposedly useful, necessary and fun editions? What a waste of time. 😔🤬😤
@@jjj-q2g there are some storm spells that i may have actually considered using in this update. One is a good 6 pip AOE. But unfortunately I cant use them whatsoever!

Who cares about the levels? You get tons of lore and interactions between characters. New traps and blades also GOATed for raiding, 10/10 all around

Disappointed this spell fusion shit is high level, dual school technically begins in dragonspyre I believe because you can get dual school gear so this is ridiculous! You should be able to fuse spells by the start of arc 2 at latest
I am pretty sure you can fuse at level 50, if not then this update is somehow even worse

@@Wizheadpluto you can switch in between to match your play style so you have access to a big pool. The gambit is the part that will allow people to be creative. I think its rly smart of them to not have to focus each update on every player. Especially when they have been pushing worlds and PVE content disproportionately.

Honestly this is the worst take I have heard in my life, kingisle cooked with this update whether it was intended for pvp or pve. The new spells are dope, the new quests are dope, the updated krok is incredible. The story is good, the fights are good simple sugar. I know for a fact you uploaded this for hate bait to get attention because you are desperate and clearly it worked lol. But like come on anyone with common sense can see kingisle did good work here and they deserve recognition for it.

A main complaint im hearing with no level cap no improved gear spellweaving too long for one spell etc is no incentive but this is a video game you play for fun not for a number on the screen to go up or to get better stats for the next update if you actually need some sort of incentive like that you have a problem with playing games

Hopefully what I'm about to say is constructive; Discounting the experience of others who may enjoy this new content and calling it the worst thing ever seems short sighted. Don't feel too bad about the naysaying, there is a reason they released a test realm for us. However when this update is released and I have a chance to play it I'll have words with you if you've misrepresented anything (assuming they didn't make any changes lol.)
If they make changes that are significant enough i will make a video praising them about it. Theyve done it in the past, a garbage update released on test and everything was fixed afterwards. They can do it again. The only thing that maybe i misrepresented is Selenopolis, its just my opinion the world is boring, it could be fun for others and thats great im glad they enjoyed it, i just think there should be more incentive and/or it should not be a requirement

I watched the entire thing. This UPDATE IS ABSOLUTELY COOKED! and the commenters are Weird bro. not gonna deny the world looks good but idk why i still like old Krokotopia better. i doubt kingsisle cares and probably will most likely just release it anyway despite the backlash.
i've just just grown to realize that no matter what you do Kingsisle is Stubborn as a mule and won't ever listen. and this update gonna just go through without a second thought. because they just wanna destroy the empower market despite it only hurting absolutely no one except the people who of course bot regents out the bazaar and other tc out of the bazaar.

So if the fusion mechanic works like you say it does, and you haven't given me reason yet to distrust you, then I am baffled as to why you are limited on how many you can learn. I thought they would just let you learn what you wanted as long as you have training points. As for your comments on Selenopolis I'm not really sure how to take your criticism as I haven't experienced it, but as you've described it I really don't think I would mind the challenges you've mentioned. We'll just see how it goes. Honestly if they are going to change the bazaar the way they have then they ought to keep the sell prices fixed and then simply demote the price in the bazaar as the vendor receives more items. I feel that would be a happy medium.
@@gottesurteil3201 the “challenge” is mentioned isnt part of Selenopolis. Its the process to upgrade magic weaving, ie to get 1 or 2 spells you have to put hours in for no reason its ridiculous. Selenopolis is the least of my concerns which is why i started with it.

This update did some incredible things. the mark and Recall change wasnt even necessary but it was an amazing QOL change, if they fix the problems with the Bazaar that I addressed then I think the UI change is great, as for Krok Graphics, i think some areas look a little weird and too smooth but thats a nitpick, 90% of the graphical changes and areas look incredible. Being able to inspect whats in packs and second chance chests shouldve been added a long time ago, its great that its being added now. Spell fusion and Selenopolis i want to like, I really do, but there are problems in how they are implemented in my opinion, if those are fixed then i think both would be great as well.
