- At times Siemens S7-400 PLC switch to stop mode and despite several attempts such as switching the position of RUN/STOP or Cold/warm restart or reboot, the PLC still remains stuck in STOP mode. During STOP mode, your plant cannot operate thus resulting in production losses.
As a DCS/PLC engineer/technician, you must restore the PLC processing, i.e to get back to RUN mode.
As a SOP, You first need to download HW configuration, then the Logic and finally the network configuration.
In the video tutorial, these steps have been performed.

S7-300 PLC CPU physical Switch position can be move automatically from RUN position to STOP position?
Did you disconnect the power to the PLC? Reconnect and it may clear the error that causes STOP? To be able to re download the PLC ladder program again takes the expert with the
programming computer and the same program. Maybe they changed something that caused this and the original program had to be re installed.
Yes. Disconnected but this issue get resolved only with complete configuration download.

Hello there, I think I have same issue but with different setup. One of our redundancy 414 -H CPU has been replaced due to unable to run. We did memory reset after installing new CPU, and found the CP443 and new 414 CPU were stuck in STOP mode. I was checking the diagnostic buffer, and found CPU link up/ update by master aborted. Cause: Synchronization error in operating due to incorrect data. My question is: If I download the entire back up program and netpro config for this particular PLC, will it affect the master PLC that running properly? Will it change the netpro for other connection partner for master CPU? Thanks

In my case s7-400H plc not allowing to upload & download. Also try with mres switch but plc not reset what will i do ?
Turn the power supplies off. Remove the PLC CPU and then plug again. Turn the power supplies again. Now (if the communication media is ok) it will be able to download configurations from Engineering station/PG.
is the configuration not stored on the memory card of the plc? Could it not be restored by switching the MRES switch?
No. Not in the case of S7-400 PLC. In this S7-400 PLC, the program is stored in the RAM i.e requires continuous power supply.
BTW MRES erase the program stored in memory.
is there any Siemens plc that still oke if got power cut? i mean the program not lost and no need to redownload. i found omron plc is good, no need to redownload after start up / or power cut
S7 - 300 and S7 1200 Program doesnt get washed even if power is cut off.
In S7-400 PLC in this video, must have internal batteries working, to save program from erasing.

Re download program to PLC CPU. Program may have been washed.
Check HMI to PLC comm cable as well.

In TIA portal, go online and try to change the status of PLC from stop to run mode.
Also try to redownload the project into the PLC.
PLC in stop mode means either it has no program in it Or due to some error it has been switched to stop mode.

It means that Battery 2 needs to replaced. It has been discharged.
