When a Spear review rivals Evie's gushing about this book, you know you have done the book justice hahahah. Absolutely love how you described your transportive reading experience, hope I will love it just as much as you did!
I can say, at first I made it like 25% in and had to start over because I thought I had missed something major. It is fairly dense content wise but it's so good from front to back.
Wow what a great sell! Loved your gushing about the complex perspective situation - this sounds like a must read when I’m in the mood for something deep and unconventional
What a passionate review. I totally believe this is the pinnacle of fantasy and literature now 😃 It was on this months TBR but did not get to it. But it's now the first book I'll start in September 😁
This books sounds fascinating. Just found your channel and found out about this book. So subscribed and added this to my TBR. Having distinctive framing, and not being to everyone’s taste, reminds me of Ada Palmer’s Terra Ignota series. From what I’ve seen looking through your backlog is mostly fantasy. Not only do I think you’d appreciate the framing & varied use of language, it’s also the speculative/science fiction series I recommend to fantasy readers. If you do feel like giving this a try you should also go into it blind but do know it is a tetralogy totaling ~1750 pages.
Consider that very much added to my wishlist! Thank you for the recommendation, I had heard of it before but not too much, so glad to hear a glowing review! Also thank you for the sub, always appreciated! Look forward to your thoughts on Spear Cuts Through Water!
Thanks for this video, Ben. The voice perspectives sound very intriguing. At one point, I wonder - does it seem like the character(s) break the fourth wall? I ask because you mentioned that they may have some inner dialogue and it seems like they are talking to the reader? So interesting! I'm a new booktuber, so I find my TBR list ever growing - thanks to good folks like you! (My wallet may not thank you, I'm afraid!). ;)
It breaks the fourth wall by virtue of talking to the audience of the show much like a chorus would, but because you're a member of the audience, it does break the fourth wall for you the reader as well
@@OverlyAverageBen Thanks for taking the time to respond! Yes, I read a sample on Amazon, and I see what you're saying. It's a text that definitely wants you, the reader, to be paying attention to what's happening. :)
Hi! Good day! I wrote a novel, titled: Archangel world at war. I watched your informative videos and it's my pleasure that someday you will review my book on one of your vlogs. It was not edited yet, nevertheless I published it to major EReading apps like Amazon and Kobo. Thank you in advance. Hopefully I can send you a physical copy in the final format of my book in the future. God bless.

I'll have my fingers crossed for you!
Fantastic! Read it in April and nothing has topped it yet.
That's very understandable!!

Yeah I can certainly imagine with no prior context it can be quick confusing, I was lucky to have Grace prepare me a little

You are allowed to love this book and you are allowed to gush about this book. You cannot love nor gush about this book more than me though. 🤣
