Was in a meeting when I got a notification that the Blue Jays had a no-hitter going into the 9th. I was gonna try to avoid seeing the score and watch the game later, but I turned the game on for the 9th and holy cow was that a fun inning to watch. Love these Mets

I blame you for being in a meeting until the 9th inning. Clearly if you had been watching the game all along, the Mets would have won easily. Please tune in for all the games against the Phils.

The Mets this season are no doubt a very good team. They don't let other teams get away with mistakes. However, the upcoming series with the Phillies will be a gauntlet. The Phillies are a very good team and don't make many mistakes. So I hope the Mets do well in this series, but we will see.

Mets fans are used to seeing a game tying shot like that, another run tacked on and then losing in the 9th or 10th.

  • @dashx1103
    @dashx1103 2 місяці тому +1

The greatest indictment of Alonso's season was that stat about batting with a runner at 3b and less than two outs. For a professional, major league hitter you should score that run more times than not. Pete was at 31% on the season. Something ain't right with the Polar Bear in '24 ... trying too hard? But it was a good sign to see him lay off of outside sliders -- which have killed him this year -- and to get the bat on ball to score the run. Maybe something to build on.

This will haunt Francis, I imagine. 0-2 on Lindor and he made a huge mistake -- sent a 92 mph fastball right in heart of the plate. You know he was trying to hit just above the top of the zone ... but just left it in the hit zone. I kind of feel bad for the guy. But I more feel great for the Mets. It is one thing to get a mistake ... it is another thing to take advantage. And Francisco did just that. Amazing game.

I am typing on a phone, and because I don’t want to lose this painful effort, I will post in blurbs
I want to talk about NLMVP vote in 2024
Question: should 50/50 determine who wins MVP?
    Answer: bleep no
Now, I can understand when Ohtani puts up batting stats which, by themselves, are MVP-worthy, and then puts up pitching numbers that represent a top ten performance, well there’s little doubt who should be MVP
He has done approximately that twice already
That was among the longest - and most crippled - sentences I’ve ever written.
So super hitter and pretty good pitcher combined into one player is extremely valuable
But huge HR guy and speedy base runner combined into one player?
    So TF what?
What advantage is there to this combination?
If somebody else on the team steals 50 bases instead of Ohtarnicle, how is that less advantageous?
So we are aware of the bone erz Ohtani elicits in baseball fans.
And all the other acronym categories - SLG, xSLG, ySLG, zSLG, zetc. - in which he leads but, again, so TF what?
Would the dodgers still be in first place without him?
    Probably
Would they still be playoff bound without him?
    Absolutely
But where would the Mets be without Lindor?
With a better record than the White Sox?
    I guess
With a better record than anyone else?
    Possibly
    Conclusion
Francisco Lindor is worthy of becoming - and should be - the first New York Mets NLMVP in their 62 year history
Unless the writers remain intoxicated upon Ohtani's personal methane
