“Song of the Sunset” is a Cantonese song adapted from the Japanese singer Masahiko Kondo’s “夕焼けの歌”. This song was composed by Yasushi Masai, with new Cantonese lyrics written by Chen Shaoqi, and it was performed by Anita Mui. It is included in Anita Mui’s album “In Brasil”. Additionally, it serves as the theme song for the 1989 film “A Better Tomorrow III: Love and Death in Saigon”, directed by John Woo. Over the years, this song has become legendary, transcending geographical boundaries, and has been covered by numerous artists. In 2024, Prof. Cynthia Hsiang adapted this classic song into a guzheng trio.
