ohhhh this made it so much easier! i've had this lil bud standing on my desk for quite some time now and this is the first time anything has sounded comprehensible 😂
Nice! Right now I recommend checking out the Hamee UA-cam channel. I've made a number of other song tutorials that are available there! And if you leave comments there with requests for more/other resources I'm sure it would help us get more official tutorial content 😉
Loved this video, I just got an otamatone today and this is the first tutorial I clicked. Such a well set out tutorial. You made it so easy to understand!
Fulfilled a 10yr+ long dream of having one of these *today*. Didn’t purchase sooner as I wasn’t sure if it was more than a toy. Grateful to see the potential xD ✨ Got the Rage Aggretsuko :3
Hi! I just got my first Otamatone (a standard strawberry) and the instructions with it say to hold it with the head in your left hand and the stem in your right, and that left handed people might want to switch hands. However, many people online are saying you should hold it like how you would hold a guitar (for a right-handed person, that would be the neck or stem in the left hand and the body or head in the right hand) and I’ve tried doing it like how i play my ukulele, but it’s hard to do a vibrato with my left and i like playing with my right. So idk what to do. I want to play it the way I play a guitar if that’s the right way to play it, but it’s also not the way I like to play it all the time. (Sorry for the long comment)
It's certainly okay to hold it either way! Luckily, the Otamatone is an ambidextrous instrument. The reason I would recommend holding it the same way you hold your ukulele/guitar is because the movements and techniques used on the fretboard are very similar to what is done on the Otamatone's touchpad. For many people, the muscle memory and dexterity will carry over from the Otamatone to the guitar and vise-versa. In my opinion, don't overthink it and feel free to switch back and forth until you decide which way you prefer! Worst case scenario: you become an ambidextrous player and someday have the power to play two Otamatones at once 💪
@@moshibass thank you so much for your kind reply! The reason I would like to use my right hand is because it actually kind of hurts my muscles when I try to do a vibrato holding it like my uke. please keep making cool videos! You’re so nice :3
Since you have a regular sized Otamatone, I should mention that it is actually quite a bit harder to do vibrato on that than on a Deluxe. If vibrato is the only reason you want to switch hands, then perhaps experiment with performing vibrato by keeping your touchpad finger still and shaking the head with your other hand instead. Additionally, if you know a good violin or cello player, see if they would be willing to take a look at your vibrato technique and offer some in person tips 🙂 So glad you like the videos! If you want to learn more, be sure to also subscribe to the Hamee US channel. I post videos there as well! (Leaving comments there as well will help even more videos happen 🙂)
@@moshibass I will, thank you. I think I’ll just use my left hand then, I can achieve a nice vibrato by shaking the head. apologies for taking up so much of your time, but my last question is, do you think the deluxe otamatone is worth it? I really love my current one already (just got him today and named him Sakura) but the deluxe seems so awesome
I think if you plan to continue to use your Otamatone, then a Deluxe is a great investment! I wouldn't recommend it for someone who might only use it just once since its more expensive. However, it's much more playable than the regular so I find it much more fun to play songs on No apologies necessary, if you ever have a question feel free to ask!
I’m so new to this , u bought one and I just learned how to play this song 🎵 ❤😊 in my opinion it’s like play a guitar but you really have to have good hand work. A little heavy on the hand.
Heavily debating getting an otamatone for a while now, think the deluxe one is worth the money? I'm a mediocre bass player in training. Also love the channel
Hm... be sure to curve your fingers and press with the very tips and see if that helps! besides that the best thing I can come up with is to have some other people try your Otamatone and see if it still does it. Once in a while I have found Otamatones that require more pressure than others. Let me know how it goes!
Is it okay to use the right hand to press the high(low, mid - pitch note) and the left hand to squeeze the otamatone’s face because I am right - handed?
Of course! I suppose my only recommendation is to use the same hand you'd use to press the strings of a guitar/violin/etc. There are plenty of people who Squeeze The face with their left hand and press the TouchPad with their right hand! Notable examples would include TheRealSullyG and Novmichi Tosa (the inventor himself!)
@@lamlehoangtung6267 anytime! Ultimately, the otamatone is about having fun. So while there may be some best practices it's okay to play however you enjoy!
How's the volume work? Is that two preset notches, or is it a slider for more precise sound control? I don't want to torment the people I live with too much
struggling a LOT but this is really helpful, i opened my otamatone about 20 minutes ago = ̄ω ̄= thank you for the step-by-step, its really easy to understand as a new player
So glad to hear it! Yes it takes a bit of practice to play very in tune. I recommend just focusing on having fun at first and not worrying if you sound "bad"!
@@christopherfitzgerald8862 hm well my advice for getting the best "wah" effect from the mouth is to start the note with the mouth completely closed and then open the mouth. If you open the mouth too soon, it won't sound like much of a wah
