    Can the tip not damage the rim should you go over an object and the tyre compresses to the point that the inserted tip makes contact with the rim?

      I haven’t had that issue I believe it’s soft brass so it wouldn’t damage it

      Exactly what I was thinking. Not worth taking the chance and damaging the rim tape or even worse the actual rim.

    I love Dyna Plug! I first found them when looking for motorcycle tire repair and have one of their kits on my motorcycle. Since then, I have a kit always with my bicycle and in my truck. They're a no fuss solution for tire repair. I've repaired about 4 tires on my motorcycle from nails and one on my gravel bike that required 3 plugs to repair. I think one or two of the MTB plugs would've done the job had they been available at the time.

      what kind of motorcycle did you fix up? i had a puncture on my sports bike and discovered my tire was so thin even if i patched it up with my tool kit it was too dangerous to even drive home.

      I think the problem with stans darts is the dart is treated to 'react' with stans sealant and help make the seal. how well it would work with other sealants is an unknown. At least the dynaplugs work with anything.

      I’m concerned that the dyna plug would damage my carbon rims if the wheel bottomed out? Wats your thoughts

    I'm new to tubeless tires and gravel and I'm planning to do the TransVA bikepacking grand depart short course in one week. I picked up my new bike, Salsa Warbird, a week ago and I panicked because I had no tire repair solution and bought the Dynapro Racer as I was leaving my LBS. I didn't even look at the price until I got home and I was shocked at how expensive this thing was. Thanks for the good review and letting me know why I paid a premium price. I'll be carrying gear for three to four days so it's nice to save on the weight, but I've used bacon strips on my car with success and probably would have gone with a much cheaper solution had I known what I was doing. Thanks for the to the point informative video. I hope to post a video of my adventure and new bike soon. Keep up the good work!

    So once it's "plugged" .. do you need to cut off the excess? Or safe to leave it on "asis"?

  • @HKRoad

    Which is better - this Racer or the Air? Better as in easiest to use I mean. And is it impossible to push those large rounded plugs through a hole? Certainly looks difficult

    Tubeless newb here but what happens to the tip? Is it left inside? If so, I guess this is just a temp to get you back, but not a permanent patch...?

    • @LockedinCycling
      @LockedinCycling  4 роки тому +3

      Phillip Scearce it lives there , I’ve had one in my tire for few hundred miles no issue, when I redo sealant I may pull it out and patch from the inside

  • @kuzcous

    All your clips showing the repair doesn't actually show how you cut the head of the plug. Looks like there's nothing including for that. That means you need to bring an additional tool which is a big issue in my opinion for racing, as you want to fix it as quickly as possible. The Dynaplug Micro on the other end has a small blade included.

    • @LockedinCycling
      @LockedinCycling  3 роки тому +1

      I actually leave the tail and never had an issue, I did a 505 mile bike packing trip and dynapluged it on day two and it lasted the rest of the way leaving the end.

    Good tip to test at home, any type of tire plug system. I do think that Dynaplug is a step above the bacon 🥓 strips and it’s a great American made product. I wouldn’t be concerned with the tip in wheel either, it’s ok to rattle around and won’t effect anything. My question is what do you do with the excess plug, protruding from the tire after you plug it? I’ve seen one of the Dynaplug kit that comes with a tiny blade, is that necessary?

    I have had good experiences with bacon strips. I have not had good experiences with Stan's Darts. I now have Dynaplugs and they are the best, if most expensive system in my experience.

    • @LockedinCycling

      Kim Krimson honestly never thought about that! I doubt the fatter plug would, but if I did that I would probably pull the road plug out before using a tube to be dafe

    Dynaplug AIR means you don’t have to carry the flexible hose for inflation through the valve. If you want the mega attachment it can be used with the AIR system too (purchased separately). For triathlon disc wheels this is best option (inflating through the puncture) bc you can’t use the flexible hose on the disc wheel valve access…. So just buy the AIR kit and simply have a mega attachment in your pouch. Problem solved… much better than the race kit imo which actually forces you to carry more

    • @LockedinCycling
      @LockedinCycling  5 місяців тому

      I’ve done a review on the air , I see the advantage you mentioned for sure with your tt setup. I carry the hose incase I have a slow leak and just need to add air , if the gash is large and takes longer to seal down the road, so I don’t need to bring a co2 head

  • @timmckinstry

    Love the idea just wish the road tip was a little less pointy. My thought is it might puncture the rim tape if ridding low pressure and you go over some rough stuff. I'm probably just paranoid.
