    Beautiful scenery. The editing-out of the stops was seamlessly done (with two notable exceptions). And I loved the stop at Leuggelbach when the car suddenly materialized on the road! Keep up the good work.

    I like your video. The classic Alpine scenery - railway, road and river run side by side in the valley between hills and mountains - is one of my favourite. I have seen this from car so far, and now It was interesting to watch it from cabview. Thanks for the sharing, keep it up!!!

    The original journey from Linthal to Ziegelbrücke (and Zurich) was very good, but this one was spectacular travelling INTO the mountains. The windscreen of that unit you were driving acts as a powerful mirror in bright sunlight - see scenes just after departing Schwanden. [edited for typo]

    At this video you have passed in total 35 railroad level crossings and under 6 (bridges and tunnels).

  • @briancooper562
    @briancooper562 5 років тому +1

    Wow!
    I notice the orange reflective panels on slender posts where track magnets, guard rails on bridges and road crossings are. Warning for snow plough drivers to raise centre ploughs above rail level?
    Only one length of train as only no.1 stopping point.

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions 5 років тому +2

      Correct, this is the signalisation for snow plows. Maximum train length there is 150m.

    Once again I must say how privileged you are to live and work in such a beautiful country. Can I ask about the purpose of the ground signals that display two white lights either horizontally, diagonally or vertically. Are they similar to the permissive signals we have in the UK that are used for shunting or slow moves onto sections already occupied?

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions 6 років тому +1

      If's beautiful there, isn't it? Of course you may ask anything you want. These signals are so called "dwarf signals". They are valid both for shunting and for normal train travel on the open route. While on the route, they simply show that all the elements are safe and clear to pass (switches locked, level crossings closed etc.). If another train would cut a switch open, a car crash through the level crossing or anything similar, they would fall back to two horizontal lights. Of course the main signals would also fall back to red. We mainly focus on the main signals (the green, orange and red ones), but if you see a dwarf signal fall back after you have passed a main signal, you have to apply the emergency brake, because something somewhere in the system failed or a potentially dangerous situation has occured. These dwarf signals are also used for shunting, we then just drive over red main signals. Vertical shows a free track ahead, diagonal means the next dwarf signal is horizontal (stop) or the track after the diagonal dwarf signal is occupied by other trains or single wagons. Horizontal of course means stop.
      In short, dwarf signals always have to show at least a diagonal line for a train to pass, they can't be ignored. Main signals aren't needed in shunting operation, while the dwarf signals are still relevant.

      @iantaf5559 6 років тому +2

      Many thanks for your comprehensive reply, I guessed the dwarf signals would have those functions, you sort of figure them out when you watch cab rides!!! After I watched your cab ride I went onto a channel called Duveloz - it shows high quality cab rides in Serbia, particularly Beograd. Well worth a visit and their railways make an interesting comparison with those in Switzerland. My very best wishes to you. 👍🏼

    • @RailwayEmotions

      It's interesting how many comments I receive about stuff disappearing or suddenly appearing at the stops. I cut the stops down to one second so you guys can enjoy an actual cabride and not a train in standstill. I also don't try to make it any less obvious by faking stuff. What you get here is brutally honest cabrides ;-)
