What he got right from his theory
- The movie is heavily inspired by seven and zodiac
- riddler actually won cause he achieved most of his goals
- batman and riddler are both representing gotham's vengeance but they took different path

I actually think the court of owls was referenced in regards to the club, but Im not entirely sure if my memory was correct. There was no direct appearance though.
He partly got the killing rule right, the stadium fight he nearly kills one of the riddler goons until he's pried off by Gordon, not until he hears him say "I'm vengeance" does he realise his wrong path

Two face wasn’t in it, court of owls weren’t in it, his moral code was not broken. In fact it was actually enhanced, realizing vengeance isn’t the answer, he ends the movie saving civilians. & People are saying “how close Matpat was to getting it right…” that’s just a nice way of saying he was wrong.
I did like how his moral code was further affirmed. He definitely missed a lot on this one. That’s fine, but no point pretending he was close.
To be fair 2 Face was a technically in it, sure it was for like 2 minutes at the end of the movie but he was in it.

After the second trailer dropped, The Court of Owls is even more likely to appear, since Bruce Wayne's dad was a part of it in some comics and there's that one scene where batman stands in the middle of a circle and in one of the sides it's written 'My father's sins'. Good one, Matpat!

Well, at the end of the movie, Roger suggests that they should become breeders. Im not saying that that makes alot of money, but some shelters and breeders get donations, so that could be of some help.

Justice is often depicted blindfolded and not able to see, as justice should be blind. However, turning a blind eye means ignoring undesirable information. If justice is to be blind and only care about the truth, is truth only that of what is most convenient or desirable? And at what cost to Gotham/society?
He's asking what's Batman's price for turning a blind eye to daytime crimes such as corruption and only focusing on night time crimes.

Well... It's not an answer as it's literally a *theory*. An educated guess on this topic. Never treat a theory as an answer unless it's officially proven by the main source
The thing with having 6 or more villains, they don't need to feature extensively and have an indepth storyline. They can use it as a way to introduce a villain to the universe, they don't even have to have an interaction with Batman during the movie because if they do it skilfully enough then they can simply tee up the sequels and have a trilogy or more of movies which interweave between themselves.

I hope the Joker shows up at some point. Yes, I've heard people say that they're sick of the Joker, but I think we need him more than ever in this day and age. Almost all the comic book films are ultra-serious now, so the Joker is your only option if you want to get away with having a funny villain.
Rumor mill has it that Marvel had done the same for the Punisher's entrance into the MCU. In two separate scenes in phase 1 an independent yellow Penske moving truck assists the heroes in pivotal moments. The driver was to be ultimately revealed as Frank Castle. It's likely BS, but cool idea all the same.

The Dark Knight Rises featured five, Ra’s Al Ghul, Scarecrow, Bane, Talia Al Ghul and Catwoman, not all had prominent roles.
I honestly want this movie to be the best batman film, or at least so good it's tied with The Dark Knight.

I like how he had some interesting angles with this, although it didn’t end up being right. In a sense Batman was challenged. His code and perspective were brought into it.
But it’s not all wrong. Batman saw himself at one point as the last target. And in some ways I can see how this theory came about.
Thankfully it wasn’t this. This movie ironically had a more positive message.

I meant that Riddler wouldn't just go out of his way to do something to break Batman. He wants to essentially create a riddle that the world's greatest detective can't solve and his obsession with Batman is that Batman's always solved his riddle and the Riddler being a narcissist can't stand.

After seeing this movie and coming back to this video, I am actually surprised to see how accurate this interpretation ended up being.
When you said Riddler could be an ally, I went back to his quote in the trailer. "You're a part of this too." He's saying that they are both fighting corruption in Gotham, they're just doing it in different ways.

The Riddlers wrapped up face reminds me of Batman: Hush, the animated movie that came out not too long ago, where the riddler was the main villain and there were like 6 villains, poison Ivy, joker, catwoman, bane, riddler, clayface and superman at one point.🤷🏻♂️

That was incredibly disappointing to most people who already know the identity of Hush being a childhood friend of Bruce and not the Riddler. It felt like they just threw Riddler into the movie so that there’d be a twist. The reason why Hush wears bandages in the comics is because he’s a plastic surgeon who’s cut off people’s faces in order to give himself surgery to look exactly like Bruce Wayne so he could steal his fortune and destroy his empire as a form of revenge.

I do hate to break it to you, but the Hush movie gets quite a few things wrong compared to the original Hush outings. Especially the fact that Hush is actually Thomas Elliot and he used the Riddler and Clayface as dopplegangers to confuse Batman. Also to people reading this comment who haven't watched the animated Hush movie, I strongly advise that you don't because it is a very bad re-imagining of the original Hush comic arc

You'd be surprised actually. Especially since this looks more at the Detective comics, where bats...really really didn't have problem offing people. The most known one is probably Detective comics #30 where he snapped a guys neck while he really didn't have to. Another has him quipping 'a fitting end for one of his kind' as a villain dies in a vat of acid, Detective Comics #27. The villains that he has right now are also predictable (apart from Joker) and who knows what will fill the void if they are removed. In one story arc, this is how the Joker came in to power. Bats got rid of one of the villains and Joker took his chance to rise. He mentions at one point how whenever he took one out, something worse filled it's place...and he really doesn't want to find out what would be worse than the Joker.
sunago you mean golden age detective comics right? That has a pass. All of his rules were set after those years. Unless you mean rebirth. I haven’t really seen rebirth so I wouldn’t know.
@@alexpina639 The Golden age comics are where he did the most of his killings yes. And it's true that the 'no killing' rule didn't come in to play until a lot later. There are however a few series where he let go of it as well. Final Crisis where he causes Dark Seids death with a gun of all things for instance. Or both instances of the Kiling Joke which is still a heavily debated thing on wether he actually killed Joker or not among fans. In New 52 he also kills a crap ton of Talons though a lot of people claim that it's okay because those people technically were already dead.
I think the 6th villain is Sal Maroni. Matt Reeves stated that the movie will be based on The Long Halloween, and both Carmine Falcone and Sal Maroni played a central role in the story.

I don’t mind homages but literally just copying and pasting the plots and changing the victims with Batman villains just feels lame. Its weird but I hope this video is wrong, I’m kind of tired with the whole ‘super hero movie’ just painted over an existing property from the past. (Joker)
This film is based on genre comic books that are heavily inspired by pulp, film noir, and crime drama, and it makes sense to draw inspiration from crime drama movies. Even Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight was famously inspired by Heat, a 1995 crime drama. It's weird that being inspired by a 90s crime drama would bother you. Batman isn't even an original character, it was basically ripped off from Zorro.
@@AbjectPermanence Technically it was Jumping Jack, a British urban legend prominent around same time of the Jack the Ripper (unrelated Jack's). Just Zorro analogy is more recognizable, so he was used as more direct parallel.

So close, Mat, the movie did have Riddler (partially) win, Batman didn't lose his morals, he just learned how his crusade to rid of Gotham's corruption will be a long time battle, a war against crime, and that he will need to do more than being an Agent of Vengeance to do it.
I would love to see the Riddler as a morally grey character who fights against the court of owls.
And please make him an actual genius. Not some flimsy joke, like they used to do in the animations. And don't give him the Batman: Hush role, that was bad enough in the animated movie.

DC bought the rights to Captain Marvel but didn't do much with him. Seeing Cillian reprise his role as Scarecrow all these years later and still look relatively the same would be pretty funny. Not sure how much sense it would make, though. And although I love Cillian Murphy, his face just doesn’t scream ‘Scarecrow’ to me. Though I guess that’s what the mask is for.

Okay. It’s been long enough. He got a handful of things correct, riddler, Catwoman, Penguin we’re key players, and so was Falcony. However in a ironic twist, the biggest thing he got wrong was Batman’s character arc. He started as this bitter, angsty young billionaire who sees no hope in the city. This affects him as Batman, who is seen as a vengeance hero by the riddler and others. Riddler takes it too far by killing all the corrupt Instead of taking them to jail. Batman sees how this, and takes blame for Riddler and the others. His moral code isn’t shattered. It’s put back together. He learns to be a most positive symbol, a real superhero. He safes the people of Gotham and is read to help in any other way he can, as Batman besides punching and kicking.

This video makes me think of Batman: The Long Halloween. In that storyline Batman is constantly one step behind a killer named Holiday who commits a series of murders on 13 holidays in the course of just over a year. The focus of the story is the conflicts between the old families of Gotham. There is even a point where Bruce Wayne is tied in as possible accomplice to one of the suspects. The more recent trailers have seen Bruce being called out for not doing enough to help the poor, so maybe he is targeted by someone stomping out greed in the city.
