I'm not a fan of using the plastic liners. Why would you want to cook in petroleum based plastic when you have that wonderful clay liner in the crock pot? If clean up is the problem, after you remove your food, just put some hot water in the slow cooker and put it back in base, put it on high and put the lid on. By the time you finish your dinner, the pot is easy to clean. Saves time, money, and the environment, not to mention your families gut health.

I get it from Matthew 5:13-16. Jesus wants us to be a light in this dark world. Salt was used as a preservative and we, as Christians, should do our part in keeping those who aren't saved from going to hell.
