Honestly I’m so glad I came across your channel. It’s so hard to find credible information on chameleons. Definitely earned a sub
Welcome aboard! Hope you find the videos helpful :)
Grest video, best Cham channel from Czech Republic to US!
Just broke 1k likes😁 thank you!!
Could you use a led uvb light instead of getting two different lights? I have a grow light could I use this for my chameleons sun and the plants?
My chameleon is 4 months old now I’m switching it’s cage to a bigger one. So happy I found this 🌟
Woohoo! Good timing :)
Thank you so much I recently got a chameleon and he is around 8 months old you earned a sub bc of this incredible content
I am building Divine ( my chameleon) a vivarium. I am so grateful for all the information on your videos! I still have more plants to add/ let grow in. But I think it’s pretty nice. My girl loves it.
Sounds great!
I’m truly admire you properly educating the public about these guys. So many people accidentally dehydrate them or other common mistakes.
Question: what’s the longest you’ve heard a chameleon to live? I hear females have shorter lifespans due to laying
I think the longest I’ve heard is 12 years for a panther chameleon. Females have the reputation of not living as long because people don’t care take care of them properly and then they end up laying more eggs than they should. I think if you take care of them correctly and help decrease the number of eggs they lay, they should be able to live just as long as males.
This was a banger of a video plus information and appreciate the amount of hard work to make this video
It’s one of my favorite videos I’ve made 🤗
awesome guide, but dang i went to that website you put almost $150 in just the backdrops lol.
What a fantastic video. Brilliant advice
Glad you liked it!
thank you so much for this video
You are so welcome!
Love your channel!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!!
Could you do a video about a female chameleon, like the enclosure set up and the egg lay box?
I'm filming that video this week -- stay tuned!
Um... so now I'm a bit concerned. I've got a terrarium for our guy that like... 1.5x1.5x2, but he's also like 2 months old. Is is going to be ok?
The bulb for heat. Does it matter what brand it is? Regular bulb not led right?
Brand doesn't matter as long as it is a white light and putting off the correct temps.
Thank you for the videos, reallh helping me out with the layout and things i need before i even buy the Chameleon
Glad I could help! And thank you for researching before getting your chameleon :)
I bought mine and it is only 18 x 18 x 36. It is all glass. This is what they recommended and said glass due to low humidity. Do I need a larger cage?
Yes I would get a larger cage. And using glass depends on your environment and what your species requires for humidity.
what kind of table would that be called? the table that you put your terrarium on so it can drain?
A drainage table.
@@NeptunetheChameleon thank you!
I have one of those double-bulb domes, one uvb one heat. Is that functional to start? Jeez, I don't wanna kill the little guy
No you'll need to switch to a T5 HO 5.0 linear UVB bulb ASAP. ua-cam.com/video/5RVjgaLsWn8/v-deo.html
Does the Arcadia ShadeDweller Pro 7% UV-B Kit work
Unfortunately that UVB does not provide sufficient UVB for a chameleon :( You can find links to the proper UVB on my website: www.neptunethechameleon.com/shopping-lists
Whats in the food cup
Here is my video playlist on how to feed a chameleon: ua-cam.com/play/PLBkCuo7YecLYTv4rMy5BtxWFQVQw3SNQk.html
Do you use a certain soil or put a screen on the tops of the pots so they don’t accidentally eat the soil? Wondering for compaction issues. Awesome channel! Thanks for all the help!
Thank you! Here’s my video on that: ua-cam.com/video/1eJ9jKXCGoE/v-deo.html
How do you instal the back drops? On their website it says that the backdrops can be installed onto screen cages with house hold items such as scotch tape but that can’t be the best method.
I show how I did it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/s3XBOB7bDEU/v-deo.html
So I have the 22" Arcadia 6% bulb with the 24" fixture. My Dragonstrand gets here today and I noticed you use the 36" bulb and run it diagonal. Does the bigger bulb put out more uvb? I've tried to mimic your cage build/Bill Strand's because they seem to work so well!! Really need a solar meter but they're so expensive :( lol
The 24" fixture will work great!
Im copying this exact set up
Awesome. Good luck! Check out the links in the description box.
What happens if they are on the floor ?
Are they unable to climb? Or are they just exploring? Might be a good idea to watch my video on the signs of a sick chameleon: ua-cam.com/video/Rqpy9yOCyc8/v-deo.html
@@NeptunetheChameleon I don’t think he’s sick . It’s just we have his cage in the floor for now . We’re building his new enclosure and are looking for a table to make a. Drainage system
That'll be great to get it up off of the floor!
Hi. I have a question. What soils are good for a chameleon and the plants in the cage
Here is my video about that: ua-cam.com/video/1eJ9jKXCGoE/v-deo.html
i hope you still reply to comments years later😭 i’ve had a pet snake and he needed heating mats, and i watched a video and a lady said she also put heating mats on her chameleon cage.. do you need the heating mats? i feel like since they’re typically higher in the air that the heating mats wouldn’t do any good since they’re for the ground lol. also would it be completely okay if all the plants in the enclosure were fake? i’m really bad at plant care and i also wouldn’t want to attract any bugs since my house can get very buggy in the summer lol
As you can see in this video, chameleons do not need heat mats. Using all fake plants comes with a significant risk since lots of chameleons will eat plants. Veileds in particular are known for eating plants but if you got a panther chameleon, then you might be okay.
@@NeptunetheChameleon thank you for the reply! i’ll definitely try to get some real plants in there and just do a mix. how did you get your branches? i was going to go for fake ones but i couldn’t find any online, is there a way to clean outside branches and prevent them from rotting?
Why do you need a dripper if you have a king mister ? Just wondering
It's not needed by any means -- it's just an additional hydration option.
Should you never use artificial plants or vines with real ones?
Ideally you will use all live plants and natural branches. But some keepers will use fake silk plants to help fill in empty space while they wait for their live plants to get bigger. Veileds are known to be plant eaters so that can come with risks.
Hello and thank you for your videos! If it weren't for you my female wouldn't be able to make it. I just adopted her from a previous owner that didn't care at all. I have a big problem tho and I don't have anyone to help me. The previous owner didn't even know that she will have to lay eggs. I live on a small island and the bigger terrarium that I found was 45cmx45cmx45cm. I made her an egg laying bin with reptile sand and organic pottery soil, and I added a ficus plant and a pathos plant along with some branches and some fake vines. I will surely get her a taller terrarium, but would this do for a few months? I have to wait for the shipment. If it's unhealthy for her, I will make one myself if I have to. I made a shelf that is 1.20m above the ground and I placed the terrarium on top of it so that se can see that she is somewhere high. I'm worried that I'm not caring for her properly. It's the first time that I have to take care for a chameleon and I'm so worried.
Hi :) I would make her a larger enclosure ASAP. The 45cm one is wayyyy too small. Sounds like you're making lots of great changes!
@@NeptunetheChameleon Consider it done! Thank you.
Hi I wondering if you can help me out ? I have a question for you . My daughters veiled chameleon fell off his branch last night while he was sleeping? Is there any reason why you think that happened? My daughter is really upset she thinks there is something wrong with him
Hmmm are they falling during the day as well?
Does the terrarium really needs to be 48 inches ?
Yes. Otherwise it’s a poor quality of life. Chameleons are tree climbers. They need the height and the space. 36” wide and 36” tall could also work.
@@NeptunetheChameleon ok ty!
I love your videos, where can I find a large enclosure like yours?? I need to be able to put branches in there for my Female to hide. I have the type you get from the pet store that didn't really come with anything ( starter kit).
Mine is from dragonstrand.com. They also sell the ledges separately. If you're looking for a cage at a lower price point, check out the ZooMed XL Reptibreeze.
Is an reptifogger also good?
It's good for helping with night time humidity
What plant doe she say?
Which plant are you interested in? I say a lot haha

@@ezcash920 i see what you did there...
I was just wondering if you need a 48 inch tall cage because I have seen a lot of information saying that 24 or 30 inches is fine and I just really don’t have space for a 48 inch cage, so what do you recommend
Yes you really need a 48" tall cage. The other size option would be a 36"x18"x36". Any smaller would be considered inhumane and would not provide the correct gradients in temperature and UVB.

Aww I’m sorry I won’t be able to make it! I’ll most likely be cleaning my hamsters cage😂🐹 I’ll definitely watch it afterwards though!
Tell your hamster Neptune says hi!
Your videos are amazing. I absolutely love that you did a visual example for every thing. But I do have a question, if you don’t have a screened wall at the moment and only have a glass walled enclosure how would you suggest to place multiple branches to give the most climbing spaces?
How do u control temperature
Temperatures are controlled by heat bulbs, enclosure materials, and the temp of the room.
@@NeptunetheChameleon thx
hey!! I've had my chameleon for over a year and I've had to cycle through many different branches to the point where I now rely on the bendy fake branches for his enclosure (to my understanding this isn't ideal) I am aware of the amount of toxic trees there are for chameleons so I've been sure to avoid those however I struggle a lot with branches rotting almost instantly. what types of branches do you use? (also your voice is super cute)
It might be an issue with moisture and humidity levels. Make sure the enclosure has time to dry out during the day.
I just got a veiled 2 days ago and his name is Rango. His body is only about 6 inches. I got the largest cage I could find so i wouldn't have to worry about rango getting to big for it. I made a wax worm farm. Iv watched all your vids before getting him so he would be well taken care of. Thank you!
Thanks for tuning into the premiere! Good luck with little Rango :)
CONGRATULATIONS ON 20k SUBSCRIBERS!!!! Thank you for all your hard work on teaching all of us about how to properly care for our chameleons! 💚💚💚

How do you keep the humidity in the enclosure with the repti breeze
Congrats on 20k subs!!! Your channel has helped me so so so much and my chameleon is super happy I’m so glad I am able to give her the best life I can give her!
Thank you!! 🥰
So do I need to get an LED to run with the uvb I already have to help my real plants grow at all?
UVB is more for the benefit of your chameleon than the plants. LED bulbs are for your plants to hep them grow but are considered optional and not required since they don't benefit your chameleon.
@@NeptunetheChameleon ok great thanks may be the reason why my hibiscus buds fall n not bloom lol. Since I want my plants to grow I'll get an LED lineal light n how does the basking heat bulb effect plants?
Thanks for these information
You’re welcome!
I dont have enough for the 24x24x40 cage
When i mist she hates getting wet so i hand mist
This is SUPER helpful. I do have one question though, do i need a feeding bowl or can I just put the crickets in the enclosure and let the chameleon hunt?
im pretty sure you could leave them to hang out but its a little dangerous if their alive after your cham is full because they may idk munch on them? just like super worms etc
There is no harm free ranging your bugs. I suggest cup feeding so that you can track how much food they are eating/not eating, keep the bugs gutloaded and supplemented, and prevent bugs from escaping.
Why not 10.0?
Question - new panther mom. Ordering a background. I have a RepriBreeze. How do you attached the background?
You could attach it to a PVC board and then have that be attached to the enclosure. I get my backgrounds from petbackdrops.com and code Neptune1 will save you 10% on your order!
i got my first chameleon to day and i'm so excited.
Congrats!! Be sure to check out my what to expect when you bring a new chameleon home video: ua-cam.com/video/2IESxfzFnmc/v-deo.html

Woohoo!
I’m trying to figure out which vines to use. I notice you saying don’t use the fake textured vines. But I also noticed fake vines in your cages. Which vines do you prefer and recommend?
I have natural branches and live plants inside all of my enclosures. I don’t use any fake vines since my pothos plants provide lots of natural vines.
Hello 🙋♂️, is there anyway i can get you to review my panther chameleons enclosure? I am new to the hobby and have followed every step i can. But i have a pretty small chameleon and im a little worried about his health. How do i submit the info to u?

Is it acceptable to have the enclosure on the ground?
Not really. Chameleons are arboreal animals and feel safest when off of the ground and above our eye level.
can all three lights be on the same timer or should i have a timer plug for each light individually?

The plant thing is so smart!!!
Right?! Brilliant ✨
Congrats on the 20k Neptune
Thank you!
Im confused i watch a care sheet and they said i must use a red light 😩
That's incorrect information. Chameleons should only have a white heat lamp during the day, a linear T5 5.0 UVB bul during the day, and all lights should be off at night.
I recently bought your Neptune the Chameleon Kit from Pangea. Today I was setting up the lighting. The bulb that came with my kit is a 50W. I do have a temp gun like you have in this video. My basking temps range in the 84-89 range. I have raised the heat lamp up 3” off of the top of the enclosure and the basking branch is 8” below the top. I keep adjusting the lamp trying to get the temps between 80-85F. With it being a 50W instead of 75W I didn’t think it would be as strong. Besides hanging the heat lamp from my ceiling (my enclosure is super elevated off the ground) I don’t know what to do. Is this a typical problem?
Hello! Could you share what the average temperature in your home is?
@@NeptunetheChameleon The A/C is set at 75F. I test the temperatures lower in the enclosure and they average around 74-76 in the middle.
Can I put moss in there for decorations?
I wouldn’t recommend doing that since your cham could potentially try to eat it.
Do chameleons need a uva light ?
Chameleons need a heat bulb and a T5 linear UVB bulb
So where would you place a fogger if you had one ?
At the top of the enclosure pointing down to let the fog fall into the enclosure.
If the cage is little to hold the uvb bulb what should I get
Sounds like you also need to buy a bigger cage.
Any cheaper LED bar?
Definitely! Check out chameleonforums.com for some other suggestions.
Congrats on 20k subs
Thank you so much 😀
