I just did that yesterday. Trust me, it is much more scarier when you DO it. This video does give the feeling that it's going slow, but really...the speed is amazingly fast and the feeling is VERY intense! I adore this ride! I am terrified by it, but I will always do it every time I'll go to La Ronde!
The supports you see in this video are for the "Super Manège" (translates to "Super Ride"), It's a tiny coaster, but it's definitely not a kiddie ride, with a couple corkscrews. I actually really enjoy it (It's often dismissed, so lines are usually short). I use it as a stepping stone for those who are not entirely comfortable with coasters.
I was 7 when I went there to Montréal back in 2008. Time flies. I still remember that ride but I never tried it (of course because I was small obviously). I do remember that one and the bridge that is just near la ronde. I tried the water one, I still have the photo. It was originally a trip to Stafford, VA, to visit my cousins, then we left and stopped in Washington, then we left Washington, and stopped for a while in Manhattan, NYC. We took the train to Montreal but the train had some difficulties and we had to go in bus. I do remember all that but the thing that I remember the most is Montréal. I wanna go there again so bad. but it's kinda expensive because I live in Central America and a nonstop flight there is really expensive.
i went on that coaster...it might not look very scary on vid...but seriously it is very strong and the curves are scary...and since its wooden thats the thrill of it! I never went on such exciting coaster!
Here's a question for Rob and the rest of the Alvey coaster loving crew... I'm curious to know despite the stupidly slow lift hill " in earlier years they did run both tracks at the same time and the lift hill was a much more normal speed, what are your thoughts on the monster and where would you rank it among traditional woodies?
This ride doesn't look that bad. I will probably not do it though. I've been at this park also. My grade at my school did a trip to ottawa and montreal and we came here when we were in montreal. It was a really awesome trip and it was a really awesome day at this theme park!
My favorite thing about this coaster is that there's so much framing that it just looks like a giant, jumbled, wood pile, and you're just zooming through claustrophobic tunnels through it,
Rob...neeed to know what were your thoughts of Le Monstre... Me its my favorite rollercoaster because its always scares the bejebus out of me because it feels sooo sketch!
Montreal, Canada?! Oh my god!! You guys were in Montreal!? come to Toronto!!! That's where I'm from, we have this even called The Ex that only takes place for 2 weeks in August. It's in the heart of downtown Toronto. OR if you want non-carnival type roller coasters there's always Wonderland, but it's way up in Vaughan.
what you dont understand is that the noise behind isnt the sound of the chain lift. its simply the thing who ''crank'' the train if there was an accident like ; the train goes up.... and... poof ! the chain broke ! but the cranking thing make that the train stay on the rail. if the cranking thing wasnt there, the train will go down and crash. understand ?
@themeparkreviewTPR Couple of questions: 1. This was the tallest wooden coaster in the world when it opened, correct? 2. Do they still run the right-side trains?
El toros not at cedar point... it's at six flags texas and from wat i know, this looks like a kick butt ride so please leave and hate on something worth hating.
They've actually completely redesigned the coaster, it's all cushioned now and much more comfortable and no bruises. I went there a couple days ago and it was better then without the cushions A LOT. And btw quick fact this is the biggest and longest wooden rollercoaster in all of North America :D
I knew that years ago cause I'm member of a forum about La Ronde so I know a lot of facts and roumors about the park. And fun fact I went there today :P
I've been on this ride countless times, and i gotta say that the new trains don't make justice to what the ride used to be, the old Morgan trains were not as confortable as the new ones, but they practically didn't shake so they made the ride more fluid. The new PTC are way more heavy than the old ones, the trains shakes a lot, they also make a loud noise because they shake a lot. Although, the old trains were worn, they weren't as secured has they used to be. The experience on this ride as completely changed. Now when i'm going to La Ronde i only do this track once and i'm good for the day. Also the installation of the new trains brought a lot of problems, due to their overweight, the ride was closed for the whole 2013 season. Now they seem to have fixed the problem by reducing the length of the trains (they removed 8 sitting places), but they cannot make four trains run at the same time, therefore the waiting is way longer now... Like i said the experience on this ride changed a lot...
I think you may have misunderstood me because I mentioned nothing about the sound of it. The "Made in China" comment was to joke about how slow the chain lift is. And it's called an Anti-Rollback Device, "dogs" found under the cars fall and place into the teeths on the ratchet.
Yeah I know it is Dom of la Ronde to take it apart it is old I can agree but my mom loves this ride and so is my dad he said that if the take it apart la tons won't see us anymore
It is also my home park, but I hope you realize there are so many great wooden roller coasters in the world compared to Le Monstre (El Toro, Texas Giant, etc). I've done it so many times and I can say the only good thing about it is the large helixes.... And it's pretty much it, it's not what you expect from the highest dual track wooden coaster in the world. You would expect constant high speed, lot of airtime like Collosos at Six Flags Magic Mountain but there's nothing like that on Le Monstre
I hope SOMEONE noticed the overstock of gum on the railing on your right from 0:33 to 0:49. And also, I filmed the POV of the other side of the track many weeks ago, it's on my channel.
It's just really annoying that since recently (I think 2018-2019 season), they started to only run 1 train ops on every track and they took off the last car of every train too. Because of this, you have to wait at least 1 hour except if you arrive in the morning.
Yey but not all of them, some are normal speed. I've seen one in China that, I kid you not, went slower than a Three Toed Sloth and that's really slow.
No It's not true. The next ones are Roar at six flags discovery kingdom, Twisted twins at Kentucky Kingdom, the new coaster for Dollywood in 2016 and Wildfire at Kōlmarden in 2016 and there's already rumours going on between the employees for years now that le Cobra will get demolished for something big for the park's 50th anniversary in 2017 kinda how in 2006 we got Goliath for the park's 40th anniversary in 2007.
Then how come there's like 30% of the track missing and not the supports? Go to screamscape and you will find pictures proving that the retracking has already started like a month ago. Also All american thrills posted pictures of it yesterday. And also RMC published a document where it said that they where hiring employees for its projects in America for 2016 and in the document it said that there was one project in California, one in Tennessee and one in Kentucky. Here's All American thrill's post allamericanthrills.com/kunena/independent-parks/906-kentucky-kingdom#12168
+Goldenfreddy28 canada I'm looking at your post on November 2 and seeing your comment is from three months ago. If I remember correctly Stormchaser (Twisted Sister conversion) was announced in late July so did you not see the news at that point?
I wonder when they'll have the guts to destroy le Monstre and replace it by a smoother wooden roller coaster like el Toro at Cedar Point. The curves on this roller coaster have so many discontinuities and there's about to no airtime. It sure is an inconice roller coaster of La Ronde however. :S
I just did that yesterday. Trust me, it is much more scarier when you DO it. This video does give the feeling that it's going slow, but really...the speed is amazingly fast and the feeling is VERY intense! I adore this ride! I went on it but I found it very boring
@@Kay_Plays09 aw sorry about that.
Roller coasters aren’t scary the more you ride them
This coaster certainly gety my vote for aesthetics!!! I love the look of a coaster that weaves in and out of itself.
One of the best wooden coasters in the past
OMG!! The only wooden coaster that I ever truly LOVED. Thanks for the memories folks!
*When the lift hill is steeper then the drop…*
The supports you see in this video are for the "Super Manège" (translates to "Super Ride"), It's a tiny coaster, but it's definitely not a kiddie ride, with a couple corkscrews. Some super ride!
I've been on that ride, it's pretty awesome :)
but I'd have to say that at la ronde the Goliathe is the best
the gum on the lift hill was my favorite part.
La Monstre: closes
R.C.D.B: It's still opened
amazing racing coaster

@loreizzle395 No, sorry, we only had time to mount the camera to one side. The other track is very similar, though.
I think this coaster is rough, but in a good way tbh
this roller coaster is brutal
This ride doesn't look that bad. I will probably not do it though. I've been at this park also. My grade at my school did a trip to ottawa and montreal and we came here when we were in montreal. It was a really awesome trip and it was a really awesome day at this theme park!
I have a question I’m going to la ronde this summer should I go on it and give good reasons why
My favorite thing about this coaster is that there's so much framing that it just looks like a giant, jumbled, wood pile, and you're just zooming through claustrophobic tunnels through it,
Rob...neeed to know what were your thoughts of Le Monstre... Me its my favorite rollercoaster because its always scares the bejebus out of me because it feels sooo sketch!

the most annoying thing about this ride 0:52 xD
El toros not at cedar point... it's at six flags texas and from wat i know, this looks like a kick butt ride so please leave and hate on something worth hating.
if this coaster does get RMC'D, I can't wait to see what it would look like with the 2 dueling coasters
Dalton Wike la ronde would never get an rmc considering they haven’t gotten anything in years
Colossos is in Heide Park in Germany, the one at SFMM is called Colossus.
This ride...I've done it in back, in front and middle, it is horrible, I'll never forget the bruises I got after riding it once
Cause their not designed to have PTC trains and they got those last years cause before thos they had Morgan trains and those almost didn't shake.
They've actually completely redesigned the coaster, it's all cushioned now and much more comfortable and no bruises. I went there a couple days ago and it was better then without the cushions A LOT. And btw quick fact this is the biggest and longest wooden rollercoaster in all of North America :D

I think you meant biggest and fastest double track wooden coaster in north america and in the world
I've been on this ride countless times, and i gotta say that the new trains don't make justice to what the ride used to be, the old Morgan trains were not as confortable as the new ones, but they practically didn't shake so they made the ride more fluid. Best 1985 roller coaster
This Roller Coaster batters you so much, it's great fun to ride but it hurts so damn much!!!
I better see some Canada's Wonderland videos coming up after!
I think you may have misunderstood me because I mentioned nothing about the sound of it. The "Made in China" comment was to joke about how slow the chain lift is. And it's called an Anti-Rollback Device, "dogs" found under the cars fall and place into the teeths on the ratchet.
With the new carts this ride hops
Really enjoyed your video but, don't think I'd ride it!
Yeah I know it is Dom of la Ronde to take it apart it is old I can agree but my mom loves this ride and so is my dad he said that if the take it apart la tons won't see us anymore
is track 1 or track 2 less scary???

1:24 is when the chain lifts you faster if you noticed
Have you guys been to six flags fiesta texas?
You should come back to Montreal we have added more rides
And also we will be renewing the monster from wood to iron or metal soon so it's more safer since this is old
Does that mean it's becoming a hybrid or it's being re-tracked?
@Coasterdude1432 It is the 2nd track.
Thanks for that wee bit of information, probably never going to use it (I'll probably slip it in somewhere) but still thank you.
I hope SOMEONE noticed the overstock of gum on the railing on your right from 0:33 to 0:49. And also, I filmed the POV of the other side of the track many weeks ago, it's on my channel.
@MrWhateveranything it looks like if you remove one beam, itll just crumble
Did you get permission to do so?
I really want to go here!!... maybe in the future..=p its awesome!!
this was the first roller coaster i ever went on
and me it was the goliath
It's actually Longeuil which is across the river from Montreal.
ZakAttack167 no it's montreal...
It looks like a racing coaster but .... where is the racing? Why don't both tracks go at the same time?
3:00 how the fuck did you went there?!?!?!?
You think El Toro is at SF Texas?! It's at Great Adventure.
are those the same aweful morgan trains that Collossus has?
Morgan train was the best train for this coaster
is this a GCI?
Did he just duct tape it to the ride?
Of course he did
nice video! :D
is that gum on the side? 00:37
Why does it go so slow in the beginning but it starts to speed up when going up the lift?
I assume that's because the entirety of the train is now "in" the chain while at the start the chain is only pulling the first cars.
they change the cars (train) this years. look on the web site of Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc
It's just really annoying that since recently (I think 2018-2019 season), they started to only run 1 train ops on every track and they took off the last car of every train too. Because of this, you have to wait at least 1 hour except if you arrive in the morning.
Laronde sucks. Always 1 train ops!
do you have one from the other track?
@MrWhateveranything it doesn't look very well kept i'll give you that
1:34 to skip lift chain :)
do u like quebec
dude, i went on this a few years ago, i nearly s*** my pants.
The climb of death
@pandog101 yep! :)
OMFGG C LE PREMIER ROLLERCOASTER K'JÉ FAIIT XD
@MrCobyChan I have tryed And its confortable .
the lift is the canadian museum of gum!
The other track was the only roller coaster to ever get me to throw up. It is SERIOUSLY scary.
Yey but not all of them, some are normal speed. I've seen one in China that, I kid you not, went slower than a Three Toed Sloth and that's really slow.
this looks insanely rough
this is my most favrite at la rounde exuse my spelling i just woke up p.s in live in montreal
Wow slooooooow lift
@callmemarc That's what she said.
this coaster scares me
the support structure looks flimsy at some points o.o'
This is the tallest wooden roller coaster in Canada guys
FaZe MLG this is the second oldest ride in the park the first being the monorail
FaZe MLG and the worst
RMC will hit this one next!
I'd totally shit my pants if they do, but highly doubt it

Okay. Is Le Monstre even THAT rough and unenjoyable?
Me too
Somtimes i wonder if this is better than the American eagle at SFGA.?
and that lift is so awkward. lmao
asia called they want their lifthill back
nice
1:47 What city's skyline is that?
Crimson9724 montreal
@@generalgrievous3066 It's actually Longueuil (Montréal south shore).
@sualabama neither of those
9th!

1080p :)
Seems as secure as the bridges of Quebec. :S
This ride needs to be GCI'd or RMC'd so hard
@pandog101 AHHH! no way!!
@UnlimitedCoaster i saw that and i was laughing my head off
That looks soooo rough...
haha yes!
I'm not so appreciative of the gum on the railings of the lift.
changing the car that will change the feel . :(
how slow could that lift have been? xD
Anyone else hearing Firework by Katy Perry??
YAY NO TOP COMMENTS
NOWS MY CHANCE ummm TPR IS AWESOME
Me and my dad have go on Le Monstre and my dad have lost his cap :'))
