We don’t usually cook all that for breakfast, but for lunch along with greek salad. A more common breakfast is tyropita (or spanakopita, kotopita, flogera etc. - phyllo-made pastries with any kind of filling) as well as bougatsa and koulouri (simit). If they haven’t tried any of these, consider it for another episode
Have they tried Gyros yet? (Pronounced year-o's) That would be a good one. Or Greek.... Saganaki-Seared kasseri cheese, served with a lemon wedge and pita bread. is a good Greek dish. Also Mousaka-Eggplant, zucchini, potato and homemade ground beef sauce layered and topped with bechamel cream sauce and sprinkled with parmesan cheese and baked in the oven. Served with pita bread and choice of soup or tossed salad. Hummus - preferably the garlic Hummus served w/ Pita Bread. Grecian Chicken or Chicken Lemonato, also Greek Lemon Chicken Soup.
I'd also suggest Greek salad -- lettuce, cucumber, tomato, dill, feta, often with pickled pepperoncini pepper and occasionally black olives as garnish, Greek salad dressing -- and avogolemono soup -- Greek egg and lemon (and rice) soup, often also with small bits of chicken/carrot/onion from the making of ghe chicken broth used ad a base for this soup. One of the world's great soups, in my opinion.😋

I agree with Rana, needs toast and tea or coffee. It's similar to an American breakfast, eggs and hash browns, though I would be using cheddar and season with Tabasco sauce and ketchup for the potatoes.Oregano is one of my favorite herbs.
Don't you find your energy diminishing and be starving by lunchtime if you eat no breakfast? What is the normal dinnertime in Greece? I would say most Americans (usually with families and young kids) are generally eating dinner between 5 and 6 pm. I had a boss in Italy once, who's normal dinnertime was 10 pm. But then they take siestas there too. What time do most people in Greece go to bed then? 10 pm was generally bedtime for my folks when I was growing up, and about that same time too, when my late husband needed to crash. I know it varies greatly. After being alone for, over 5 years, I'm with someone new now, and he's so tired when he gets home from work, dinner is between 4:30-5:30 and he usually goes to bed between 6-7 pm (even earlier in winter when it gets dark so early), but he's up for work at 3:20 am. I'm having a very difficult time getting used to his schedule.
Modern Greeks do not eat breakfast because they eat dinner late at night... However, if we go back 1-2 generations when Greeks actually got up early in the morning and worked hard physical labor jobs, this is the kind of breakfast they ate. I still do eat this kind of breakfast, and it is the biggest meal of my day, my lunch is smaller, and my dinner is the smallest meal of the day that I eat around 6 in the evening. Of course, I live in rural Greece and work very hard with my hands, all day. City folks are different...
@@tomlee7956 Precisely, my grandfather who worked in the fields to care for our olive trees from 6 a.m would eat a huge breakfast every day. My granny would pack lunch for him too AND he would eat again at around 2 p.m and then at 8 p.m. I don't personally see the point in eating a big breakfast unless one is doing manual labour, or is going to travel. Something light is fine, like a cheese/spinach pie or something like that. Coffee is a must, though! 😂

lol most Greeks skip breakfast and replace it with a cup of coffee. Later on, during a break from work, they might have a sandwich or something like that, from a nearby fast food place. And except for the feta cheese, this supposed to be "Greek breakfast", is the kind you would find in hotels anywhere in Europe. Anyway breakfast in Greece, even when is not skipped altogether, is by no means standardized. For instance, my "Greek breakfast" is usually two poached eggs, a few olives, a tomato and a good slice of whole wheat bread but others might eat toast with butter and marmelade or honey etc. French fries for breakfast however, are very unlikely.
Gulsher Khan has a glorious mustache!! I love all of these folks. They're so appreciative and conscientious at reviewing foods foreign to them. These videos are tremendous.
Oregano emerged in southern Europe's temperate regions and is a traditional Mediterranean herb. It boasts its Greek origins in its name; oros means “mountain” and ganos means “brightness” or “joy”.
.....also - as a long time breakfast cook - I can safely tell you that "sunny side up" is prepared as RAW egg yolk. Over easy egg is one that has been flipped over once - just long enough to set the membrane covering the yolk ( basically, the yolk is still RAW after the flip - only slightly warmed ) Something known as "half-fried" would be cooked more like over medium.....and over hard would be fully cooked with a broken yolk.
I always enjoy this reaction channel! I agree with them. Please give them some tea to drink with what the are dining on. I always worry they're going to accidently choke. Please always give them something to drink from now on? Thanks and all my best to everyone there. :D Peace.
Disappointed that you didn't give them a side of buttered toast with the dish. You served runny eggs - even they said that their breakfast is served with roti/naan...they would have found the breakfast more filling as well. As cup of tea is also a major part of breakfast - even in Greek culture. Should have given them some to wash down the starchiness of the potatoes. But overall, glad that they ALL enjoyed the breakfast.
Greeks hardly ever use butter, and 'toast' is normally in the form of rusks. Tea is not commonly used with milk, as we Westerners expect. It can often be herbal.
@@2eleven48 A slice of bread slightly drizzled in olive oil and a little oregano is the most Greek thing ever. (although this is not "traditional Greek breakfast", but if you wanted to eat a meal in the morning, that could fit this description.)

Whenever you give eggs that can be runny you should always give some bread with it to pickvit up and eat it with. Roti, or pita, or naan, or toasted sandwich bread. It's not nice to give runny or soft eggs without bread.❤
Greeks don’t actually eat breakfast, we drink coffee and we might add some toast bread with some kind of jam or honey. Very rarely I have seen stuff like this or omelettes being served for breakfast
Maybe at Greek hotels serve breakfast like this. We usually drink coffee and eat kouluri or some tyropita later. This is when wife didn't know what to cook
That's not a Greek breakfast. I am Greek and I never in my life have seen anyone having this as a breakfast. This is a quick lunch for us or sometimes dinner if we in a hurry. Greek breakfast is usually , bougatza, spanakopita, koulouri, coffee, tea bread slices with Butter, jam , boiled eggs, greek cheese, ham and maybe olives.
Actually...they are right. A cup of tea and some type of bread or biscuit would be perfect breakfast...but I don't know how the Greeks eat it. But you don't always serve the food in its original style either. 😊
actualy isnt greek breakfast..we use to eat that the noon as lunch...greekbreakfast is 2 slices of bread butter and honey on top...1 cup of milk...1 fruit (banana or orange)...and 1 or 2 eggs...others make toasts with yellow cheese and ham.. others nutela on bread...and others all brand in bawl of milk....first time i heard for fried potatoes eggs and cheese as breakfast.
Very simple breakfast from my childhood was toast with butter and cinnamon sugar on it. I’m suggesting we try this with them only because I saw a video once where they used cinnamon in a dessert and the people in the video were shocked because they never thought to use cinnamon in a dessert before. Not that toast is a dessert, but it’s makes the toast, sweet. Kids love it and even adults.
I am Greek and I must say that noone here eats this as breakfast. You are very wrong to present this as "Greek breakfast". Maybe as a light dinner sometimes. For breakfast we eat other things such as sweet or sour pies and various dough products and always coffee or tea perhaps. Also bread, butter, milk and honey are popular choices or Greek yogurt and seasonal fruit.
Yes, toast (or bread of your choice) is necessary to dip into the egg yolk. In America we call that a breakfast burrito. You should try them. Hashbrowns, scrambled egg, cheese, green onions, with a small amount of salsa and sour cream. 🏆🌯
Ok take metallic or glay plate called "shaganaki", 2 slices of tomato put on them few rings of banana pepper (and hot green pepper if u like ) a fat slice of feta on top close it with aluminium foil (airly not to touch the food) couple of minutes in the microwave, open it, pure some xtra virgin olive oil, rigano, maybe pepper if want, eat it with baked bread or pita (the gyros one). This is the way to be introduced to feta, AND it melts, not like yellow cheese but in the mouth. And life is good again.
When one of the men said they cook tomatoes and egg, that sounded more like Greek breakfast than this😅 still a wholesome video, i hope you’re all doing well❤
In america well at least have eggs with toast and bacon or sausage. Try egg and cheesy scrambled eggs with sausage toast that is very good I always load it with black peppers & hot sauce
Breakfast for Hellenes(Greeks) includs some exables like: greek coffee, spanakopita, hot or cold milk, marmelade, honey, crispy toast and rusk, mountain tea, trahana, koulouri, boiled eggs, tyropita, pizza, pligouri, fresh orange juice, kaseri, tahini, omelete, halva, small hot bread, bougatsa, etc... it depends of the preferences
Actually, the original Greek breakfast, is a big cup of Greek coffee and three cigarettes. Apart from that, scrambled eggs with feta cheese and tomatoes, is also an original late breakfast, not with potatoes. Of course, one can add anything he likes.
As a Greek, that's not breakfast for us. Lunch, yes, but not breakfast. Breakfast is usually things like toast, tea/coffee, marmalade, honey, etc.

Yes they need flat bread or tortilla to put the egg, potatoes and feta in. Make it like a burrito 🌯
In America we call that a breakfast burrito. You should try them. Hashbrowns, scrambled egg, cheese, green onions, with a small amount of salsa and sour cream. 🏆🌯
Ok. Now we have a Tribal cookbook. Now, can we buy Tribal spices ? I’m too excited! Thumbs up!
Never got the taste for feta, cant trust a cheese that doesn't really melt!
ABSOLUTELY----> OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!. 🙂
Love this channel. You all are amazing
Someone give that man some type of bread!!!
greek breakfast is cofee an cigarettes, nothing else
Things like this are served with toast or bread. Especially with soft or runny egg yoke. But eggs always usually go with toast
All is looking so healthy and bright! Shiny, happy people ✨️
Love the way knife and fork was presentedm but they just turned them around lol
They all loved it. ❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
When one of the men said they cook tomatoes and egg, that sounded more like Greek breakfast than this😅 still a wholesome video, i hope you’re all doing well❤
i live in a concrete jungle in bristol england but i love these ppl so ty x
I love this channel! How many of the dishes that they have tried will be incorporated into their diet?
In america well at least have eggs with toast and bacon or sausage. Try egg and cheesy scrambled eggs with sausage toast that is very good I always load it with black peppers & hot sauce
Glad they liked it! Feta is really strong, and is an acquired taste.
