Regularly descaling your espresso machine is a fundamental maintenance tool that will allow you to continue recreating high-quality café favorites at home. When the ‘1-cup’, ‘2-cup’ and ‘Steam’ buttons start to flash alternatively on your espresso machine, it is a sign telling you that it is time to perform the descale cycle.
Directions:
1. Empty the drip tray and place it firmly back into the machine.
2. Remove and fill the water tank to the descale line indicated and add one packet of the provided descaling powder to the water.
3. Place a 2L container under the group head and steam wand.
4. Turn the machine off by simultaneously pressing the ‘1-cup’ and ‘2-cup’ buttons. It is important you let the machine cool before you begin the descale process.
5. Now the machine is turned off, press the ‘1-cup and ‘Steam’ button to enter the descale mode.
6. The ‘1-cup’ and ‘Steam’ buttons will illuminate which will indicate that the machine is ready to begin descaling.
7. Press the ‘1-cup’ or ‘Steam’ button to begin the descale cycle, these buttons will alternately flash during the cycle.
8. Once the descale solution has been used up, the descale cycle will pause.
9. When the machine has paused, you need to refill the water tank to the max line and empty the wastewater container, replacing both parts in the machine.
10. The ‘1-cup’ and ‘Steam’ buttons will illuminate when the machine is ready, press the ‘1-cup’ or ‘Steam’ button to allow the machine to continue the cycle.
11. When the descale is complete the ‘1-cup’ and ‘Steam” button will flash alternately.
12. Finally, the machine will go into standby mode.
