Tokyo saying that the Professor doesn't feel anything was so wrong. i hated her for it. he feels everything. the actor playing the Professor is so good and in some episodes, even in the first two seasons, i saw that sometimes he wanted to do more than just sit behind the scenes because he genuinely cares about all of them, even if he doesn't show it to them. just look at the way he's looking at all of them sometimes in the scenes where they're eating together and all that. i mean, he's putting all of them in danger and he knows it. i think it's what keeps him awake at night the most.
And I have to say: I agree with everything in your description of this vid. It was definitely better than S3. The creators were more courageous about the ways in which they exposed toxic masculinity, misogyny, and racism. Trans inclusion, nuanced and varied gay characters, men learning to share grief and trauma with other men, and retribution against rapists weren't themes I was expecting from LCDP. (Thanks for including Arturo getting shot in this vid by the way. That's a freakin' triumphant moment.) Oh wait, there's only one thing I don't agree with in your description: I still find Tokyo to be a regressive character, and, although I know TPTB would never dream of killing her off since she attracts a certain demographic, I deeply wish it was Nairobi still around instead of Tokyo.
Yes for me S3 was for me a pale copy of S1 and 2. Except the finale which was mind blowing. But yeah in S4 they took more risks and I agree with everything you say here. I hope they'll make Arturo pay in S5, he's such a disgusting character. Ahah I don't why i grew more found of tokyo's character. I couldn't stand her before, but she was more enjoyable in this part? maybe calmer? I actually disliked Palerme much more.
@@maitikaHan I agree that Tokyo was less overtly repulsive in S4. :) I think I know why I softened towards her a bit: because she was focused on her friend's wellbeing and safety for so much of S4! In S3 she was yanking Rio around, immaturely pushing him away (which got everyone into this mess!), and then lusting and pining after him once they reunited in the Bank. However, in S4, her focus wasn't on men as much as usual. She was more focused on Nairobi! Between the flashbacks they chose to show and then the actual time they spent in the Bank with Nairobi on the operating table or recovery bed, Tokyo's focus was finally placed in a direction I could respect. When Tokyo is sexually pursuing someone, like Rio, it always feels so possessive and selfish, entirely about feeding her ego and desires, not about respecting or caring for the other person. So, I feel like this season finally gave us a break from that incessant theme. So, I guess you've prompted me to unpack it a bit. Now that I think about it more, you're right: I liked Tokyo's devotion to her friend this season, and when she grieved for Nairobi and raged against Nairobi's killer, we did too. Tokyo became a bit of the audience surrogate for a moment. Showing her experiencing some non-selfish grief and rage added some dimension and depth to an otherwise one-note character. Thanks for making me think about it more. :)
Raw, brilliant transitions. Somehow you managed to link together all of the most impactant, significant moments of all 4 parts, giving everyone the spotlight they deserve and calling out to every individual character development that adds up so impressively to the whole core of this show. Amazing... Particularly the end, with that simple “That's life” in Berlim's words.
Oh my god I am so late to this but this video holy... The song fits so perfectly to this show The moment at 0:59 - 1:03 gave me chills with how well it fit The whole edit is just so perfectly made I love it so much! All of the scenes, sound effects just *chefs kiss* I'm going to come back to this video for sure because it's just such a pleasure to watch
This is one of my favorite edits. Such an emotional, powerful and painful video. It’s not just a serie for me, I love it from the bottom of my heart. And this video made me so emotional🤍
This is something I'd like to show to everyone asking why I re-watch this show, as it sums up its emotional side perfectly. Excellent editing ("...like your father or your dog just died...") and great choice of a song; I like Leonard Cohen's version more, but I guess you had your reasons, and the result is as heartbraking.
Your incredible edits continue to impress and delight me all over again. The way you intersperse powerful imagery, audio cuts, and overlapping character arcs is exquisite. In this vid, I love how you interpret song lyrics in multiple ways by showing a variety of corresponding clips that speak to a range of relationship types. Kudos, again.
Have you ever considered using the song White Flag by Bishop Briggs for a Raquel-focused vid? Ever since I first started following your work, especially Strange Addition and Play with Fire, I've imagined what you could do with that song for Raquel. From surviving domestic abuse and the destruction of her career, to the dismantling of her world views and her active transformation to an anti-establishment revolutionary, the song sounds ripe for her character. I think with the right visuals, it could amplify the inherent grit, resilience, and will to survive that Raquel embodies.
Coincidence, I'm currently making a Raquel video! Thanks for the recommandation, I really liked the music! i don't vid this kind of songs very often because there are so many beats and i'm no really not confortable with special effects and text (play with fire and strange addiction gave me so much pain to finish them...). The one I'm working on will be instrumental because I need to use a lot of quotes but I will definitely consider White Flag for a next one, it fits Raquel perfectly! so thank yoooou! ;)
@@maitikaHan Yay! I'm so glad you like that song! I'm excited that you feel like it fits Raquel. I know this will sound silly, but I've been imagining what a video of yours would be like with that song since July of last year. Whenever the song came up on Spotify while I was working or driving, I'd start picturing what *you* specifically might do with it. :) You have a distinctive style, even though each of your videos is unique. There's a level of artistry and level of technique that is so apart. Your artistic flair comes through in the imaginative compositions of sound effects and music; it's evident in the big ideas and individual moments; and it's clear in your daringness to attempt challenging songs and emotional themes. But without extreme technique and skill, you wouldn't be able to pull off your ambitious creations. We're all so lucky that we get to enjoy your capabilities. I honestly have no idea how you get such clean audio tracks out of the show without having access to raw footage and audio files! It's impressive. I remember the first time I watched one of your videos, I said to myself, "How is maitikaHan is doing so much with so little!" I think you're a master of finding moments of emotion to overlay and juxtapose in ways that add *more* meaning to it, or perhaps just underscore and elevate the rich emotion that we know Itziar and Alvaro are able to bring to their characters. So, I have to ask: do you do this professionally? If not, why not (if you don't mind me asking)?

It takes a lot of work to combine visual and sound effects in this incredible way (I still haven't figured out how to do that btw:P )and also take into account the lyrics of the song but not losing them while you listen to the quotes. Fantastic pacing, fantastic editing, my heart is in pieces and goddamn, Berlin's words at the end are just too cruel. Standing ovation for you. I've nothing more to say just... wow! As always!

Wow. Incredible. Thank you so much for cranking this out so quickly. How many hours did you spend on this? I can't imagine you've slept since Season 4 dropped. As always, your videos are so well thought through, perfectly paced, and artfully constructed to create emotional swells that are even more powerful than watching the show. You condense and distill the emotion into the most impactful moments, and you pair the sound effects, dialogue, music, and visuals so skillfully that it leaves me breathless and tearful, which is stronger than the feelings I experienced when watching the show itself.
