We lost a pop culture icon, and one my boys from the West clan, who was the best of us. Adam West passed away from a brief battle with leukemia at the age of 88. Adam in many eyes is the definitive Batman, able to play a role so deadpan, and yet so hilarious. Even though many people in the industry didn't cast him because of Batman, he succeeded at being a good sport and parodying himself and having a ball while doing it, especially as Mayor Adam West in Family Guy.
RIP Mr.West, and never forget old chum, remember to do "The Batusi" every chance you can get, and never mess with Adam We!

It's tough being typecast. At least Adam was one of the kinds how eventually embraced it.
His voice is really distinct, it's kind of hard for him to do anything else.

ikr I missed hearing his voice in some of the shows he played in even in a video called LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham always in peral
I couldn't believe it when I first heard the news. Adam West may not have been the most serious or action oriented Batman, but there's no denying he had his own charm that lent itself well to the Caped Crusader. And that's probably why so many of his roles involved parodies of Batman, or were from superhero shows. May he rest in peace.

People knew him as both Batman and a voice actor, but he will always be an icon that died too soon😢😭
I mainly remember him for being Catman, but I didn't realise how much he was actually involved in my childhood.

Family Guy is never going to be the same again without Mayor West and so is the DC Universe without its first Caped Crusader. As a lifelong fan of Family Guy and DC Comics, I cannot express enough how devastated I am that Mr West is gone. They're probably gonna retire Mayor West out of respect for Mr West after the final 5 episodes he recorded have aired. RIP Adam, old chum. I hope you get those future old people wizard powers up in the skies.

It's just terrible that so many amazing actors have passed away in only 1 1/4 years. He was one of the best people I ever knew about, he was wonderful and could fit any role given to him. Adam West will surely be missed.

A piece of my childhood is gone now. I respected Adam West not only for his portrayal of Batman on TV, but the loyalty he had for the character in other media versions of Batman..the most important I felt was in a Superfriends' /Super Powers Team episode entitled "The Fear" ( 0:16- 0:45 ) in which Bruce Wayne (voiced by West) briefly re-tells the origin of how he became Batman. This was the first time (and I believe only time) in cinema history that Batman's origin was ever told outside the comic book medium. I am blessed that I got to grow up with his version of the character. You shall be missed many fans around the world. Say hello to George Reeves and others that have portrayed iconic heroes of our past. RIP

Blast Wave Good Point. Adam West was only in 2 or 3 Simpsons episodes, but James Woods was only in one, and the crossover episode featured Simpsons' James Wood talking to Family Guy's James Woods.

Adam West was a big part of my childhood. Hearing of his passing makes me very sad. And makes me want to play the track that plays in the memorial scene at the end of Halo 3. I won't forget all he did for me in my childhood.
So I heard they were making Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders a while back but never actually saw who was making it. Where can I watch that show? And has it been cancelled due to Adam West's death or are they going to try to continue without him? Can Dick Grayson be the new Batman?

It's a movie? I thought it was going to be a new series. Is Two-Face in it? I've always wondered what a 60's Adam West Batman style Two-Face would look like.
The movie released back in October 2016, the sequel is still happening, since West finished his lines last October, but it will be the last thing he's ever done.
