@@coolgabe64Cerezo was very good in a different way, he made excellent runs off the ball to drag defenders away and create gaps for his team mates to run into. Zico didn't like playing right up and being tightly marked in this game but the other three were superb.

from this highlights I surmise three things 1 the MVP's of this game was Rossi in second place but the Italian goal keeper was the true MVP (he kept Brazil from winning). 2 it seems that Brazil no defense at all, so many holes in their defense I wonder how come they didn't get any more goals, I guess because their attack power was so high. 3. Italy had a really strong team i was a two year old child when this was played so i don't remember it, my first WC that I remember watching form start to finish was Italy 90 WC. However i had always heard that Brazil 82 was one of Brazil best team ever probably behind Brazil 70. But this Brail looked very incomplete their defense was none exitance while their game was beautiful and really Italy was saved because of the Goal Keeper but Italy had a more complete team than Brazil. they weren't a creative and attacking power house as that Brazil team however they were balanced, they defended well, and capitalized in Brazils weakness their non existence defense.

Thank you for posting. It looks great. This is one of those woeld cup games that will always be remembered. The Brazilian team was amazing but it sure had some flaws. Their number 9 couldnt score if his life depended on it and one or two of the defenders were very passive. Then, the Italian team was all ready to beat anyone. Around that time the best league was the Italian and the games were really close so you had to score every time you had a chance, well... this team did just that. I really like this Italian team because they beat Argentina which was the World Champion, Brazil with Zico and then Germany on the final. I think people dont realise how good this Italian team was, my guess is that they could beat any other world champion in history.

Loved the Brazil team of '82 as did many millions. In this match however, Italy came out and played like champions-to-be after a sluggish start in the initial group stage and showed up some of Brazil's defensive weaknesses. Brazil missed some good chances to score more, but Rossi was on fire in this match and Italy went on to win the tournament handsomely.
Possibly the best football game I ever saw. For once, Italy put the immense talent of its footballers at play, instead of following moronic tactics. What an impressive match, at any moment you could feel things were going to happen. Brazil equalized twice and both times it seemed that they'd finally bag it... until Italy scored again.

What was moronic is the play style that Italy had been using through the 1970s (and in the previous matches of the 1982 World Cup). Loved the Brazil team of '82 as did many millions. In this match however, Italy came out and played like champions-to-be after a sluggish start in the initial group stage and showed up some of Brazil's defensive weaknesses. Brazil missed some good chances to score more, but Rossi was on fire in this match and Italy went on to win the tournament handsomely.

Possibly the best football game I ever saw. For once, Italy put the immense talent of its footballers at play, instead of following moronic tactics. What an impressive match, at any moment you could feel things were going to happen. Brazil equalized twice and both times it seemed that they'd finally bag it... until Italy scored again.

What was moronic is the play style that Italy had been using through the 1970s (and in the previous matches of the 1982 World Cup). A style which stated that 0-0 was a perfect result because it meant that neither of the teams had made any mistake.

They meet again in 1989( Iraly's defeat 1-0), 1994( Penalty win Brazil) 1997 (Tie) abd it was 6-5 for Brazil. Then again in 2009( TWELVE years after, 3-0 for Brazil) and twice 2013 (2-2 and a 4-2 for Brazil). As you can see, they don't meet often
