In today's video I'm going to take you through a simple DIY setup for knot tying and get you masterful with tying knots.
If there is one thing you should be doing every day as a medical student interested in surgery or a surgical resident it's tying knots.
If there is a second thing it's sewing on bananas.
Every day!
Here are the things you can use to build a perfect knot tying kit:
1 12inch 2x4
4 3/4 inch screw in hooks
Rubber bands
String or suture
For a deep tying kit I like:
Metal paint can
Magnetic hook
With this simple setup you can be a knot tying machine! I can almost guarantee it! You just have to practice, make it a part of your daily routine.
I remember before laparoscopic cases as a resident I would go and tie laparoscopic knots on the trainer before the case. This would warm up both my hands and my mind for what was to come. I recommend you warm up every morning so that it's fluid.

Ibrahim Thank you so much for your beautiful comment, I’m so happy you found it helpful. More on the way.
I never thought of doing both a index finger and middle finger throw at the same time to get an instant surgeons knot. That's so helpful ! Thanks so much for sharing.

Good video just that the demonstration was a little fast for beginners and sometimes hardly visible maybe something more visible and wider for easy demo
Will do something a bit longer, this was just a taste! Thanks for the suggestion!
Hi Dr. Pearson! Thank you for this helpful video. For the one handed knot, how do you get the knots to lie in a square knot pattern without criss crossing in some way? I noticed it seems like you don't cross your hands when laying the knot down.
Awesome, I’ll put out a short tomorrow and show you how :)
May Allah continue to bless you with good health, thank you.
Thank you, many blessings to you as well.
May I ask why do you always cross your sutures at the start?
If I cross at the start I’ll always tie a square knot
Finally i got it aftrr watching 100+ useless videos
