I find my 85cm mast ventilates when going hard upwind or doing a fast heelside tack. The 75cm didn't, but I have to be on the ball to stop it. Never happened on my f one UHM mast🤔
Just weighed my axis HM 82cm mast with code adaptor. 2.35kg. Weighing... ahem, weighing up the benefit of upgrading to the code mast. So many factors I know...
The different tolerances with having an adapter are good for cost purposes, but not amazing for performance, no matter how you look at it. Is that the Ultra Axis or just HM? I would assume that the Ultra code + mast, would be stiffer over the HM Axis. You need that MPPP!!!! Feel free to reach out to me.
There is a lot slop in the adapters, even if they fit well. Reason is, even when not using adapters there's still flex in this type of joint. It's one of the stiffer joints, but given the large opening, on Axis, Code and Lift mast to foil joints, the actual walls of the joint do flex. I mean, try it... without using an adapter, build any of these rigs in your living room and have someone move the mast side to side. On an Axis fuse, you'll notice the fuse itself twist a bit due to the reduction in material there. On a Code setup, you'll notice the carbon flex a bit at the walls of the joint. Now, when you add an adapter, even when snug, you can do the same test and you'll see the gaps open and close more as the flex happens... but now you have TWO gaps on either side, not just one. Yeah, you can pack the gaps with a lot of different stuff and get it to be almost as stiff as without an adapter... like using aluminum tape or copper tape, (and other kinds of tapes), or candlewax, hot glue, etc.. but it's always a compromise. Specially when it comes time to swap fuses or foils. Then it's a real pain.
@@FoilWaysyeah that is what I meant! Adapters are cool for cost. And having different brands if you want to flirt around. But if you are code and you are riding code. Go code
@@EkapolTharasiriroj I suppose you're talking about older North masts though... cause their new High Mod mast looks to be pretty awesome and specs say it's actually thinner at the bottom than Code.

@@honeycarolwilliams-hu2xu I’ve never had that issue.
Maybe you have inconsistency in your mast?

Code mast is pretty good to begin with. Coming from North, Code is a big upgrade. I think the thin mast help a lot on efficiency.
