I want for now that Sui and Han get some much needed rest before training this summer. I want to see them in the Grand Prix series this fall. It was worth it to watch their free program on NBC gold AND on regular TV programming (even if I had to listen to Johnny and Tara). Thank you guys for the great interview. It's very fun to hear Meagan talking about competition from a top skater perspectives, very informative and insightful. Great commentary on pairs! Sui & Han and Tarasova & Morozov were so much better than they were a couple months ago. When they're on, they have some of the best throws you'll ever see. I loved the graphics showing the height and distance of throws; the ISU should utilize that more. Unfortunately James & Cipres had an off event, but it happens. I'm sure they were feeling the pressure as favorites and had to follow T/M's superb short program. Thanks for mentioning the technical specialist. I couldn't figure out how Cain & LeDuc didn't get called for the salchow that was barely more than 2.5 times around. It was the most glaring UR of the event. We need a happy medium between Shin Amano and flat out ignoring errors. C/L did fine enough, but they don't have the element quality compared to the higher teams. Her height affects her center of gravity, and that could impact their throw quality. It wasn't the deepest field, but it ended up being a really strong event for the top placements.

Awesome recap with Meagan! It's great to get detailed insight from someone so knowledgeable about pairs. I too wondered about Ashley Cain's rotations. Her 3S in the free skate was so obviously underrotated in real time, it was shocking to not see it called. They also got level 4 on their twist, when it's clearly not. I didn't realize the tech specialist was American-- not that it should matter. Those calls were very suspect. And then in the Ladies event, it's as if they forgot about underrotations entirely. It would be nice if the judging was as accurate as possible at the biggest event of the year. I too would have preferred Peng & Jin for bronze, as I think their element quality is superior, but the underrotation did hurt. It was a rocky pair event to start, but the final handful of teams were pretty amazing. Sui & Han looked so much better than they did at 4 Continents and I always appreciate Tarasova & Morozov's pair skating quality.
I noticed that Sui and Han do change their entrance of the sbs 3S from 3turn to mohawk turn, maybe this is the reason why they put that sbs 3s late of the program coz they might feel more secure with the new entrance
yeah they actually tried mohawk turn into 3S before 2018 but Han was struggling with the new entry so they kept the 3 turn. Sui's 3S is more stable with a mohawk turn.
Well, Sui got injured a second time this past season so that's probably why we didn't see the quad twist. I think they'll add it back for next season given she's healthy (fingers crossed). They've also been working on solo 3lo, but who knows if it'll go well enough to ever add it in competition.
sparkl121 I heard she got two injuries after 4CC, one that Cong failed to catch her on a twist and she fell straight on ice with barehands used to support the body... horrendous to just know of... Another injure was on her back, the core strength part. But anyway the reason why they didn’t shoot quad was bc it’s not worth to risk the GOE in this new judging system.
First of all Sui and Han was amazing. Congrats to them. I can watch that program all day long. Second, so glad you guys talked about Eunsoo and Mariah incident. When music is on and it's not yours, it's time to pay attention to the person who's music is on. Get out of the way period. Don't turn your back to the skater who's music is on. Had Eunsoo been paying attention, she wouldn't have gotten hurt. It's really that simple. I highly doubt Mariah intentionally slice up Eunsoo. At the end of the day, neither of them have a chance to land on the podium with the deep field. What's there to argue about? Plus who goes after their "enemy" in daylight under spotlight? Both of them have better things to do under the circumstance than to bitch slap each other out in the open if they truly don't get along. Tonya Harding's husband was stupid enough to do it at the backstage. I can't imagine Mariah is even dumber than Tonya's husband to do it right in the ring. It's an accident. Clear and simple. Move on.
I'm so bummed Peng/Jin didnt nab the bronze. I've really been rooting for them all season, their short is such a breath of fresh air. Sui and Han though-what a masterful long program and such a deserved win. Though technically perfect, Tarasova and Morozov-do they like to figure skate? When I watch them it's like watching robots, no emotion, no interpretation, it's as if they're forced to do this. Give me joy, give me anger, give me passion, give me something! Such a shame about Vanessa and Morgan, they did look really nervous and not as present as usual. And although I'm not the biggest Cain/Leduc fan, I was pleased to see them finish top 10. A really great pairs event.
Ridiculous those Russians were scored ahead of them. The Russians made lots of mistakes and were slow and boring. Honestly, I preferred the other Russians skating ti Nutcracker.
Meaghan pointing out that T/M don’t look at each other made me chuckle. I’ve rewatched her and Eric’s Muse program so many times (I LOVE it, especially her joy while skating it), and she is literally almost always looking at Eric while he almost never looks at her. His gaze is almost blank, mouth a little open, looking at the rafters, while she’s either smiling at him or watching him as they prepare for an element. I’ve always wondered whether she felt any way about it - it must be strange to always see your partner’s profile (or his back) and rarely make eye contact.
Thank you Meagan for your commentary on Mariah Bell. You have a voice of reason. That entire incident was so blown out of proportion. Clearly, it was an accident. People need to leave her alone move on!!
They are coached by Cain's parents. Aside from some long distance consulting and an occasional week together, I don't believe they actually train in Russia with Elton John. But in any event, maybe it did help them get a bit more attention than unusual just to even claim she is coach. Their scores were pretty kind for what they did.
I agree with Megan's comment regarding the situation of James/Cipres's short program situation. Actually they collided with Boikova/Kozlovski in GP France free program but they managed to accomplish their performance. I think Tarasova/Morozov's big score, who skated just before them, could affect.
Vanessa said she suffered a headache and started to feel tired halfway through program. She said Morgan was worried about her, that is why he was distracted.
Thank you for this! Meagan brings such a great perspective. Sui and Han were breathtaking and the win was so well deserved. I’m so sad for Vanessa and Morgan but I hope this means they won’t retire. Do you think they could have won had they skated cleanly? Yey for USA getting two spots back!
Love when Meagan is on TSL. :) Based on her injury, I didn't think Sui and Han would be able to capture the gold, however their two programs, especially the long made me so happy for them.
Apologies for posting about Lim/Bell in the pairs video, but an elite skater’s perspective on the Lim/Bell incident was highly called for, so thank you Meagan for providing that. The whole incident was so blown out of proportion by the agency. Mariah’s doing the same exact choreography she’s been doing all season, how could it have been intentional? The timing of the article just underlines the agency’s ulterior motive, to draw attention (and maybe as Dave pointed out, to sell more tickets for their upcoming ice show). The way I see it, it’s highly probable that Eunsoo will be the one who suffers most from long term adversary effects of this incident; I wouldn’t be surprised if next season, she ends up having to leave Raf’s rink, and the Korea figure skating association feel like they owe her no favors because she wasn’t able to win that 2nd spot for the worlds, and she ends up having no allies left in figure skating, basically boding the end of her career. I agree with Adam that this entire thing was a click bait, but it seems possible that the bait wasn’t just Mariah - the bigger bait the agarncy “sacrificed” for short term gain may just have been Eunsoo.
Don't you think it's kind of rude to say that this issue will lead Eunsoo to end of her career? She's only 16 and this was her Worlds debut, dear. She's got the future. I'm sure she'll definitely get stronger and compete at 2020 Worlds. She was never out of the podium at Korean nationals for the past few years. I wonder who will be in the US World Team at 2020 Worlds.
Her agency features YuNa Kim in the show. Their show gets sold out in minutes. Also, Eunsoo did secure two spots for the Worlds. Please check your facts before you comment.
This was fantastic, thank you! Had to wait until the end of competition to watch because there isn’t enough time in a day :) So happy Meagan could join you, I think I agreed with her on everything, down to the Bojkova/Kozlovsky potential and the fact that I might like them so much because of Moskvina. The event was wonderful, so many clean skates it was quite unbelievable. After each of them I felt less and less upset for Vanessa and Morgan since that was just such a great sporting event that I felt people deserved what they got. Sui and Han have my heart, I think I might have bit myself when she jumped the salchow, and the hand movement - my god! Feeling happy :)
I actually don't think Sui and Han skate to their maximum level. Sui had a bad waist injury a couple of weeks ago, and before that she had a foot fracture. She can't even finish the whole long program in practice a week before the competition. I hope this pair would have no injury in the following years and keep giving us more beautiful programs
Moment of the week: An American team actually getting the benefit of the doubt on a possible underrotation. Nice to see someone other than the Russian teams getting some love. lol. Also Tim LeDuc's gray pants in the LP are also my moment of the week. Whew!!
I think y’all were questioning who that extra guy was in the kiss n cry for Sui/Han. He’s a retired skater and is the jumping coach for the Chinese pairs. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guan_Jinlin
Eunsoo is my ride or die for 2022 but as Mariah’s rinkmate she should have had better awareness. Same drill in practice for this song, choreo and ice for past ten months. Part of the problem may be that as rinkmates they get sloppy with ice etiquette. If it were Zag, Med or Rika out there with music and the right a way then Eunsoo would have her head on a swivel.
@@evanperilstein5308 actually she might have been close to the boards preciously because she knows Mariah's routines. Mariah does not get that close to the board in the SP opening.
Meagan deflected Dave's leading, critical questions about Ashley and Tim with such grace! Well done! Meagan has such heart and soul. She answers honestly, always looking at the best of each pair, while also analyzing how an element happens. I love that she compared C/L throw jumps with J/C. Contrary to prevailing opinion, I see similarity between the two teams. Dave should learn a little grace, and to give credit to USA skaters. Ever hear of support?
I actually wasn't trying to be rude. I was asking her how to judge the throws and she explained. I also said that they have height and distance, but not the best landing. That is simply how the throws are performed.
I believe you, and you do wonderful interviews. Plus, you and Jonathan keep me listening to wrap-ups and such. I'd like to hear more positive remarks, is all. In this case, some praise for C/L's admirable progress in pairs elements and international PCS would go a long way. But of course, it's up to you. This is just my feedback.
Universal rule for skating is that the person who has their music playing has the right away. It is the skater’s responsibility to be aware at all times where the skater is who has the right of way. Yes she was on the boards, but she still needed to know where Mariah was. It seemed like she was spaced out for a moment. If she was that involved with her coach or herself or with whatever she was doing, she should have gotten off the ice. At many top rinks, you don’t hang out boards.
Being by the boards doesn't guarantee you're out of anybody's way during their run-through, as this incident shows. You have to watch where the other skater is moving and move out of their way. We know programs are choreographed to utilize the entire ice surface and often times, it calls for skaters to move close to the boards, especially if they're prepping for jumps.
I haven't gotten very far in the video yet but I really have to disagree with this narrative that you guys are setting up about the Eunsoo and Mariah incident. Maybe, just maybe Mariah didn't mean it or she didn't know either but I don't like the way you guys are basically victim blaming Eunsoo. She was literally at the sidelines skating so close to the edge of the rink which means she was indeed trying to give way for Mariah to finish her program. Mariah knows the trajectory of her program and was skating forward at first before she turned backwards and extended her leg. She would have seen anyone in her path. Also I don't know why this incident blew up if Mariah had apologized after her program. This isn't a petty twitter war but KSU submitted a report to ISU which means that there were more things probably happening behind the scenes. Tbh I believe that if this wasn't an issue behind the scenes, it wouldn't have been blown up the way it was esp because Raf is both their coaches. Anyway, in the end neither you guys nor I know exactly what happened but you guys doing all this victim blaming is not cute.
Dude we now know it's an accident, Mariah has apologized and Eunsoo accepted it and they moved on. The USFSA confirmed that they met Friday morning before the FS and they talked it out and they're fine. TSL and Meagan clarified that it was just an unfortunate accident, and that no skater ever means to intentionally cause another harm. Let's drop the issue and move on.
@@evanperilstein5308 you havent seen the unedited video I believe. The video released by most US media has been edited, omitting the part when Mariah does the cross over and literally looks at Lim before taking a turn. There are unedited versions out there
Meagan, you are making a bad analogy. Obviously, your partner is no rival of yours, and you would not intentionally hit your partner with the blade, as that would jeopardize your career as well. The incident btw Mariah and Lim got blown out of proportion because it is alleged that Bell has been bullying Lim for months. Look, she is a foreigner and also a minor. I am going to defer my own judgement about bullying until there is more confirmation, but this is not something to be considered lightly. Also, Mariah clearly saw Eunsoo as she is doing the crossover. Sure, she did have the right of way, but that also does not give her the right to hit anything that comes in her way, when she clearly NOTICED Eunsoo. Also, Mariah clearly lost her balance as she had to raise her leg to keep herself from falling. Before you criticize Lim about etiquette, think about what effect your words can have on Lim as well. I hope that you stay fair.
And where is the alleged bullying coming from? I hate to not believe you here but most of the time Korean fans (knetz as they are called in the kpop world) are harsh (ofcourse not all) and can create rumors that damage the reputation of other people. I'm curious to see if there are really grounds for this assumption or if it just came out of nowhere. I say this because korean anti fans killed a popular kpop group's fame because of supposed "bullying" that only now has been proven false, but too late as the group's reputation never improved. I saw some of their comments on Mariah and it was horrible. I'm not that familiar with Lim and Mariah so idk them. I just look at this situation through a blank slate.
@@moonlightstripess by the spokesperson of Eunsoo's agency. The agency is managed by YuNa Kim's mother. They dont have a history of interfering between athletes like this.
Ive done some parse digging and it seems to me that this bullying agenda is hard to prove unless real evidence shows up. And if she did bully Lim why did lim's team speak only now? And apparently they have the same coach?
@@moonlightstripess they said they are only releasing now because it has escalated from verbal attack to a physical attack. They also said they would have dealt with this situation under the cover if Mariah Bell apologized to Eunsoo. But they wanted to protect Eunsoo from getting further physical harm.
You use the term allegedly, and then you go to spread more rumors. Unless Ensoo says specifically she has been bullied by Mariah these last few months you should edit your post again.
Talking about the right of ways again..hello Eunsoo was near the boards..would it be okay if Mariah accidentally killed her?cos it's her music and she has the rights.😂ii watched Yuna's run through..it was her Les miserables worlds2013 and she was very professional..a true athlete.
This angers me so much when people start with this bs "when your music been played you got the right of the way"... Ensou was literally at the edge of the rink! What she was supposed to do jump out of it?! I am not blaming Mariah since this indeed could be accident but why would you try and blame it on Korean girl? I mean whatever happened there Ensou's would be last person to blame.
@@gtestkey They're actually have been plenty of times when people have jumped on the boards to get out of the way. They trained together, Ensoo knew her pattern and should have known not to be in that area. It was an accident, people need to stop blowing it out of proportion.
@@mr.balloffur actually, no. Eunsoo was probably at the boards because she knows Mariah's routine. Mariah does not go that close to the boards in her SP opening. That was a highly unusual that she did get that close to the boards.

Move on.
at the 2015 WC, Sui & Han performed their side by side 3S as the 6th element...like this year :-)
I have bar exams but have been checking UA-cam every hour waiting for figure skating commentary. Been waiting for this!!
YY S good luck!!!
Oh and always love to hear the thoughts of Meagan!!!!!
Lol. I tell my kids, Happy Sad Grouchy Glad, pick one.
Ridiculous those Russians were scored ahead of them. The Russians made lots of mistakes and were slow and boring. Honestly, I preferred the other Russians skating ti Nutcracker.
YAY - I love Meaghan!
I felt so sad for Vanessa and Morgan in the SP warm-up. She surely had concussion.
She did not, she was checked after practice.
Friday night with our favorite ménage à trois - Merci merci, merci beaucoup
Working with Elton John really paid off for Cain & Leduc. They did a great job here.
They are coached by Cain's parents. Aside from some long distance consulting and an occasional week together, I don't believe they actually train in Russia with Elton John. But in any event, maybe it did help them get a bit more attention than unusual just to even claim she is coach. Their scores were pretty kind for what they did.
EK Apple lolllllllllol
Yes I love Cain & Leduc. I see great things for them.
thank god this is up, I really needed this!
Sonique Cat I think they were just rattled by the return of Sui/Han after a season with almost no real competition
@@a9029k did you not see the crash in the warm up? They didnt choke, she was hurt!!
She took a really hard hit.
Meagan is great!
She actually did secure two spots for Korea next year
Don't you think it's kind of rude to say that this issue will lead Eunsoo to end of her career? She's only 16 and this was her Worlds debut, dear. She's got the future. I'm sure she'll definitely get stronger and compete at 2020 Worlds. She was never out of the podium at Korean nationals for the past few years. I wonder who will be in the US World Team at 2020 Worlds.
@@Ilovegymnastics-ks4ii Yeah.
Her agency features YuNa Kim in the show. Their show gets sold out in minutes. Also, Eunsoo did secure two spots for the Worlds. Please check your facts before you comment.
This was fantastic, thank you! Had to wait until the end of competition to watch because there isn’t enough time in a day :)
So happy Meagan could join you, I think I agreed with her on everything, down to the Bojkova/Kozlovsky potential and the fact that I might like them so much because of Moskvina.
Meagan is amazing
I actually don't think Sui and Han skate to their maximum level. Sui had a bad waist injury a couple of weeks ago, and before that she had a foot fracture. She can't even finish the whole long program in practice a week before the competition. I hope this pair would have no injury in the following years and keep giving us more beautiful programs
She's such a warrior princess, super heroine, etc. Admire her so much.
Very enjoyable and enlightening! Love hearing the opinions of a true insider. She’s so open and frank.
Thank you the detailed coverage of every discipline! I’m ready to binge
yess!!! this and that before the free dance:o)
Moment of the week: An American team actually getting the benefit of the doubt on a possible underrotation. Nice to see someone other than the Russian teams getting some love. lol. Also Tim LeDuc's gray pants in the LP are also my moment of the week. Whew!!
Yay Meagan! 😊
I think y’all were questioning who that extra guy was in the kiss n cry for Sui/Han. He’s a retired skater and is the jumping coach for the Chinese pairs.

Love Megan 💕 finally someone with good sense about Maria Bell thing!
Thank U so much for sharing
Oh wow, Boikova and her partner....I love them too!
MaeMae we love you 📸💋 come as guest commentator more often plisss... CBC should def hire you
Eunsoo was as out of the way as possible! It was NO ones fault!
Waiting in pain to see a doctor, and up pops the best medicine. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eunsoo was skating right along the boards when this happened. She couldn't have been more out of the way. Watch the video.
Carla Iris they had a great year!
The Young and the Restless skaters!
Great guest. Bring her back soon x
Eunsoo was on the sideline when the accident happened, so no idea why you guy are blaming her...
Because she needed to be nowhere near Mariah. Eunsoo was not paying attention when she should have been.
They never explicitly said it was her fault.
Marika fasola Eunsoo was in the way. She should have been in another area. It was Bells music playing, Bell had the ice
There are unedited versions out there
I don’t see anyone victim blaming, just trying to figure out what happened. Explaining the “right of way” in skating is not victim blaming.
Girl they haven’t done analogies on the SAT in like 10 years
Joshua Paik they were on when the important people took them :) I hope it makes you feel self important to know about the analogies.
I do think when judging throw jumps, height difference should be taken into account. Tarasova and Morozov are getting this benefit.
You act like she sliced her leg off. OMG, it was a MINOR accident. Bell probably didn’t even know it happened. She was so focused on her program.
The two chicks are so catty
M*ghan:
• the point
• her
Dave they never called the unclear edge call of Zagitova Lutz. Someone wants to call Evgenia's Lutz in ig and Twitter
I think this is because even if you remove points from Alina, she still wins, but if u remove some from Evgenia's than some other skater wins.
Figure skating might have the most petty and boring dramas ever. And im including kpop in this.
you know why Korean agency speak loud cos they had enough!!
I think you guys biased. From the video clip clearly, Mariah exactly knows the distance between eunsoo and her stretching leg..it is intentional.
That is the actual protocol in a skating rink.
@@TheSkatingLesson But she indeed was at the edge of the rink... I don't know what she was supposed to run away or something?
@@gtestkey They're actually have been plenty of times when people have jumped on the boards to get out of the way. They trained together, Ensoo knew her pattern and should have known not to be in that area. It was an accident, people need to stop blowing it out of proportion.
gtestkey yes
@@mr.balloffur actually, no. Eunsoo was probably at the boards because she knows Mariah's routine. Mariah does not go that close to the boards in her SP opening. That was a highly unusual that she did get that close to the boards.

Surprisingly, I am wondering why the West has never protested or demanding for a doping test for these two amazing yet talented Chinese athletes? 😂
