There is a Kaizo mod for this game called Superstar mode, (spoiler ahead if you want to try it yourself) and in there the ground is more or less lava in sand kingdom.
I just realized when you pointed out the boss in the ceiling of the underground, you can actually see the top of his head and the multi moon inside from above ground, near the man with the broken down car!

Did you know before you touch the lava you have to throw your cap and bounce on it you can do this repeatedly and dive afterwards
In Mario Odyssey if you stand still long enough you can slowly Regen your health
Only in Assist Mode or if you are inside the Odessey.
