My daughter would like to tell you "I like your snake! I have a snake too. Yours is nice and fat, I like that. I love the way he looks." She's 6 and just got her first ball python pastel.

+LLLReptile and Supply Co, Inc. Hey I have a question about one of my ball pythons. Shes active like all the time, she barely uses her 3 hides. The temperature in the cages are exact. Shes very healthy looking, she hasnt eaten yes but drinks regularly. My other two eat normally, once per week. She is a normal ball python, her coloring is beautiful, she hasnt lost weight. Ive had her for 2 months so far.
It is a starter snake
My son has a ball python it’s relaxing to hold him. But you can feel their strength when their go around arm or your neck. But they easily to pick up. Grab the middle of the snake and the other hand on under the chin so they don’t bite you by accident!
I am just now realizing all the ball pythons I've ever seen in youtube videos have been babies...

What size cage does he need? I have a beautiful Pastel Ball Python, and he is supposedly 2 years old, but he's only about two feet. I am hoping he will get that big! If he does, what size cage will he need? And how much should I feed my python? I feed him three pink fuzzy mice once a week, but my friend says that is too much.
40 gallon breeder and he should be able to eat medium to adult mice maybe even jumbo mice. They may seem big but snakes mouths can open 1.5 times the size of their body
that is wayyyyy toooo much, if hes 2yr old he should be eating mice already, what size cage have you got him in? you should seriously do re search before purchasing any pet, pinkies/fuzzies is what babies eat, 3 times a week is 2 much, hatchlings can be fed a pinky twice a week but thats it, you should take him to a vet to make sure hes ok, is heat and all that good? i dont want to come across as rude but it makes me angry when i see people buy an animal that they know nothing about or have no info on.

Every snake is different and ball pythons all grow at different speeds. Feeding for size fast isn’t the way to go feeding for the longevity and health of the animal is .

I don't personally think age matters. But it is very important to realize that a snake is a huge responsibility to have. Once you buy this animal, it's yours and this isn't a light responsibility. These animals live for 30 years. So that's going to be half your life caring for it.
My roommate owns a BP, and he was told by someone to purchase rats that are at least 100-150% of the snake's largest girth. I've been looking around, and most care sheets and magazines say the rats should be no larger than the snake's largest point.
Is it safe to feed BPs a rat that's 1.5x their size? To me, that seems like a bit of a stretch, but when I feed the snake rats that are equivalent to its size, my roommate usually complains that the rats I give it are too small.
It is not good and very hard on the snake to feed it prey that large. You are right in feeding rats only the size of it's largest portion.
I would venture to say that a person like your roommate probably feeds live prey which is a big no no in the snake world because of the damage the rodent can inflict on the snake. Worse case scenario both animals are tortured. The snake by receiving wounds from the live prey and the rat from slowly being suffocated to death.
You are 100% right in what you are feeding that would be the right size. A snake will very rarely not finish eating something it grabs. this could lead to it trying to swallow a large animal and can cause the sides of the mouth to split and bleed. Tell your roommate to stop trying to kill the thing and feed it properly. I have seen someone give a snake too large of a prey item and the sides of the mouth split and bled. It was not a pretty site.

This is a two year old comment but meh, felt compelled. If the room-mate is acting on what they've been told by someone else then treating them like they're stupid because they don't know something you do is no way to educate. Educate kindly and the learning will be better.

both male and females are friendly but the females will grow a bit larger than the males

how big tank needs to be for adult?
Loki Laufeyson clear plastic tubs are great for ball pythons. a large one with plently of floor and height space would work. they don't move much

It's actually a custom tank built just for the store. Pretty much just an open top, bow front tank with the filter hidden under the rocks. Not very exciting, sorry!
What wattage are the bulbs for them to reach the turtles from that high?
Austin Mijares They're just to light the cage up, they don't actually provide a heated basking area. We use those tanks for fully aquatic species; the water is heated for them.

+ShadowGamerHD Well, actually IMO Pastels are better, as spiders can have the "head wobble". Google it, just a common trait in spider morphs. Looks wise, personal preference.
