  • Mary Burke's classic appearance from June, 2001 in its entirety, where she became the last contestant on primetime Who Wants to be a Millionaire to win $500,000. Sashinator0 posted the latter part of her run about ten years ago (and I posted the first part). Here's the whole thing in one video.

      Well she still had the 50:50 assist at the time so at least from my perspective it makes sense for someone like Mary Burke to guess with that kind of chance even if the risk is huge

    Mary Burke wasn't the only one to have this type of outcome. Tom O'Brien had this situation encountered on June 11, 2000, and he had the same outcome as Ms. Burke.

      Personally I’m more impressed when they are on one of the last questions, are 75% sure about the correct answer, but decide to walk, than I am by someone gambling their way to a million.

    It's a shame Mary didn't go for the million and win it all. However, it's very understandable why she didn't. For that kind of question, you can't just have a hunch of what the answer is. You have to be 100% confident before thinking about taking the risk at losing $468,000. And $500,000 is nothing to sneeze at.

    Wow, this is amazing and a slap in the face to all the urban, high degreed, career orientated modern feminists who think they're the smartest women out there. This church going, rural stayed home mother and wife who milks goats, simply knows about everything with humility, softness, and grace.

    • @galevisarah
      @galevisarah 3 роки тому +13

      I feel like this is more of a slap in the face for Regis who kept undermining her knowledge bc she's a stay at home mom. Notice how many times he kept acting surprised that she knows things?

    • @HeadlessJimothy
      @HeadlessJimothy 2 роки тому +2

      Not one modern feminist have ever thought they're the smartest women but they are clearly smarter than those who dismiss such a movement.

    • @philpeer7407
      @philpeer7407 2 роки тому +2

      Good societies do not simply require softness, humility, and grace. They also benefit from cleverness, viciousness, and healthy amounts of equality, and for that, feminists are fantastic.
      Feminism is not about getting rid of rural stay-at-home moms, but if you have a society where 90% of women are in that category, you have to step back and wonder what markets and taboos are indirectly imposing on people.

    Mary Burke, a very Irish name. She also named her son Sean, meaning John, in English, which is another common first Irish name. Her daughters name Rachael or Rachel is common in Ireland too but does not originate in Ireland. So I'm guessing Mary has close ties with Ireland.
