    Amy! Thanks so much for thinking of this collab! So great to get both the perspective of a parent of a child with T1D, and a young adult T1D! :) Hope to meet you at a D conference someday!

    Henry, you are SO AWESOME taking care of your diabetes on your own, during school!! I didn't get my diabetes until I was 16 and I wish I had your mom's videos to watch back then, they would have helped me SO MUCH!! I just wanted to pretend I didn't have it, so I didn't TAKE CONTROL of it, like you are doing!! I know some days are CRAZY, you do everything right, and your numbers have a mind of their own!!! It can get very frustrating, but you are staying on top of it and doing everything you can do!!! I know you don't know me, but I just want you to know how PROUD I am of you!! Diabetes is a pain in the neck, and you are a WINNER, in the way you are handling it!!! Thank you for letting us watch your mom's videos, because it HELPS us SO MUCH!! Please give your mom a big hug for me and I'm sending you one too!!

    He is turning into such a big responsible little man! I found your channel many years ago by googling random things about how to understand my now 7 year old daughter as a new mommy when she was a toddler. She was hard to handle and threw tantrums like crazy. You did a video about Henry when he was 15 months old about his tantrums. I subscribed then and have been following yall ever since. I love watching him grow, thank you for sharing your family with all of us!

    Great job Henry! Glad you're able to collab with Danica. She's great! Just got the Minimed 630G , pump and sensor in one. A bit challenging but we all know trails and errors of pumps and sensors :)

    Are you using an android phone or an I phone for the dexcom ?
    I enjoy watching your videos. I am a mom to a 4 year old type 1 diabetic who was diagnosed at 9 months old. Even tho she will have had type 1 for 4 years in march, as a mom it can be difficult not knowing other moms going through the ups and downs of type 1. So thank you for sharing little bits of your life.

    God bless you and your beautiful family. He is a super strong boy and you must be a proud mom. My son got diagnosed about 3 months ago too and it is super hard and heartbreaking to see them going through this every day... I am just keep hoping and praying for a real cure once for all. Can you do a video on ketones pls. Does he experience that daily or not. Thank you and stay strong🤗

    The Dexcom is great for some peace of mind but as you know can be frustrating at times- We gave up on it for now and will revisit using a CGM and it's share app when our 4yo son goes to school a full day in a couple years. Henry isn't too picky of an eater? thats our struggle now.

    Hello Amy! Thank you for these very helpful videos. I have a daughter who's 9 (diagnosed with type 1 at the age of 7). I noticed that your son does not need to take basal insulin. Is that right? Is That simply because I have a girl? My daughter takes Lantus-she has taken it ever since we came home from the hospital when she was first diagnosed. Thanks in advance for your time!

    • @dreamflight6000
      @dreamflight6000  5 років тому +1

      When you use an insulin pump, you no longer need Lantus. You use only fast acting which is programmed to give base insulin all day long.

    I find if we try to calibrate dexcom on anything but a straight arrow, its off all day. I can see how you didnt have time to wait though considering he was headed off to school! I really want to ask what the pouch was called that he uses? my son who is 7 uses a spibelt which is fine for the reciever but with a phone its just too much in 1 spot. the belt you guys use looks perfect!

    • @dreamflight6000
      @dreamflight6000  8 років тому +3

      +Amy F Yes! It's perfect! It's a tallygear belt. It's the original tummietote with one clear pocket for Dex. Or has three pockets total.

    What's his goal for blood sugar??

    • @elliemccarthy5672
      @elliemccarthy5672 8 років тому

      typically 70-150 is good. Both too low and too high are dangerous.

    • @SharpLife4
      @SharpLife4 8 років тому +2

      Ellie McCarthy isn't 70 too low for a kid that's 3.9. For a type one diabetic you shouldn't really ever be that low. Goal for kids is under 8.5 pre meal. Yes am fasting in the 4.5-7 and up to 11 2 hours post meal. Hard on the heart to run that low.

      Jessica B 80-180 is target for most type ones. New research suggest only being 80 in the am one at the lowest and midrange is statically safer on the heart.

    Just got diagnosed with T1D in January of 2020.I am scared because of how I got diagnosed. 💔💔
    I think it was January 4th and I am scared because I had to call the cops. It was not taken seriously when I was a kid. Basically I have had symptoms since age 7 and in Springfield Missouri no one takes anything seriously.
    💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
    These are doctors you would think that hey if Jacqueline has been excessively thirsty and excessively hungry it would mean to check for the gene right? But no one in Springfield Missouri knows what the hell they are doing.
