A Song of Unforgettable Memory
The song "We Started from Scratch" was created in Juche 69(1980). It was written by Kim Tu Il and composed by Ri Pong Ryong. The lyric song gives an impressive musical picture of the merits of the Korean people who built the country from scratch into a people´s paradise under the wise guidance of the great leader Kim Il Sung.
The great leader Kim Il Sung led the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory and liberated Korea. After liberation he personally broke the ground for nation building, kindling the flames of building a new country.
Especially in the early 1950s he victoriously led the Fatherland Liberation War against the invasion of the US-led imperialist allied forces and aroused the entire people to the postwar reconstruction. In those days he met workers and called for showing the mettle of the Koreans in the postwar reconstruction as well, showing deep trust in them. In hearty response to his call, the Korean workers wrought surprising miracles with bare hands on the debris without a brick unbroken.
The song describes with vivid and impressive poetic words the proud struggle of the Korean people who built a rich and powerful independent sovereign state. It also represents the firm will of the Korean people to shape a brighter future as they advanced independently and creatively under the leadership of the Party and the leader.
Ri Tong Uk, researcher of the National Music Institute of the Kim Won Gyun University of Music, says:
"The melody consists of two parts. The melody of broad calibre forming a fluent process of sound in broad range with soft yet optimistic rhythm is run through with a meditative and lyric mood. The song is a significant famous song warmly representing the heroic feats performed by the Korean people in the most difficult days of postwar reconstruction, believing only in the great leader Kim Il Sung."
The song "We Started from Scratch" is a song of unforgettable memory giving strength and courage to the Korean people building a prosperous socialist nation under the leadership of respected Kim Jong Un.

Thanks for the English subtitles.
I have often wondered why north Korea does not make a series of 30-minute documentaries that discuss their side of the war.
General Curtis LeMay of the US Air Force famously said, "we tried to bomb north Korea back into the Stone Age, and damned near succeeded."
The US destroyed pretty much every building, bridge, dam, and harbor north of the 38th Parallel. It was a total war upon the civilian population.
Everything you see now is new. It has been built within my lifetime. They did it with some help from Russia and China but most of what you see is what the north Koreans did themselves. Ideology aside, it really is something when you think about it.
Why doesn't north Korea lay this out for all the world to see?
US imperialists are holding monopoly on global media and do not let any truth to emerge.
Now that's just silly, Ming.
You're smarter than that...
UA-cam is free and you can say anything you like as long as its not pornographic, promotes terrorism, or harms children or animals.
North Korea can publish anything it wants to on UA-cam, and it does. No restrictions.
With video.
Just like me.
Just like you.
Yeah, and that's the problem. May as well be speaking Swahili.
The other problem is the narrative is submerged in the ideology.
The story, all by itself, is plenty horrifying. In fact, it's better if it's told in a stark, naked, matter-of-fact style. Don't need no politics.
Total war on a civilian population. Innocent men women, and children whose only crime was that they lived north of the 38th Parallel.
If north Korea doesn't get off the dime and make the video, I'll do it. I'm running out of patience.
That would be waste of resources, DPRK cant match US imperialist propaganda, especially not by uploading videos on UA-cam that would only 100 000 People see at best.
US imperialists can be only repelled by powerful Military supported with nuclear weapons. Most People in the west support Assad and are against wars in the Middle East, and yet Donald Trump bombed Syria twice without anyone's approval. But if Assad had powerful military and nuclear weapons, Trump and his imperialist gang would never dare to attack.
well said Ming Kim speaks the truth
