Thank you for your honesty. At least you were allowed to say the word Denon.
We can't talk about anything we like Milosz, we're going to do a comparison (I'm sure the comments will be fun on that one!) at some point for now we're just focusing on the CDJ-3000's :)
What a PC answer... ;)
@@digitaldjtips and that did not show all that liberty really. Here is one along the lines we expected. I am sorry to be a "hater" but that "reviews" is a disaster - ua-cam.com/video/NZ463WUio1w/v-deo.html
That describes pioneer best “these are not for you” we are not good enough to own these units...it is only for the elite. Denon on the other hand is like...we are listening to you, we have built something new and innovative, come join us!
Not what I meant. Pioneer DJ makes gear at all price points.
Hi Phil! Both Pioneer staff (in the comments of the launch video) and Crossfader made clear that this particular player was not meant to be purchased by bedroom djs but was conceived for festivals and rental business. That in itself is not a bad thing now that Pioneer Dj provided aspiring djs with great controllers like the xdj xz and ddj 1000. Thanks!
@@digitaldjtips The still sell those hopelessly outdated (with bugged Master Tempo) CDJ-350 and CDJ-850. The solo XDJs have barely any knobs and everything goes on the touchscreen. And even if they bring more gear, it would still lack some core functionality, like on-board track analyse (which can be indeed relevant for many non-mainstage and mobile DJs)...
@MQ Party When you’re buying a TV do you get offended that a professional color reference TV goes for 40k $ or do you just happily get your 1k$ 4k Samsung TV? Pro equipment is not for home use and that’s ok.
@@substance90 exactly.
Thank you Phil! I really appreciate the effort you put into your work, your honesty and your politeness! Looking forward for that Denon comparison video!
Thanks for that, glad to hear it!
Watched the full review and this livestream, Excellent work, thank you!
No problem, thanks for the support Chris!
Welcome back Phil
Getting to know you more these days what with all these product launches
Keep up the sterling work my friend 👏
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it
Thanks for posting all these videos - very informative / comprehensive
Glad they’re helping you
My friends and I invested in a set of white 3000's from an XDJ RX1 and all I can say is DAMN. They aren't underwhelming at all and truly changed the game for me. Working hard and practicing on them now and the investment can be used towards multiple businesses.. all for it!
Nice one Colt
Love the Big Screen.
We do as well
I've incorporated these decks into my home studio, so ok there industry standard and the new flagship but so was the nexus2s, and they played a big part and still do of many a home studio..I'm loving all the new features and I believe these are just as much at home in a studio as in a club...
Glad to hear it Stuart
@@digitaldjtips forgot to say thank you for a great indenth review on the new player.
You're very welcome, thanks for watching!
Starting up my SC5000m's for another beatport link superfun session of musical discovery after watching this... vibe to the 7"!!!
Nice :)
Good unbiased fair and decent review as always, never disappoints 👍😃😃
Thanks Trevor!
We like James. He’s a very unique DJ and Producer.
Mechanical Jog Wheels Rule!!!
One of the main reasons Pioneer is the Club and Event Standard.
There’s a lot of room for additional features in the new CDJs.
Another thing to consider is James really tests Pioneer Gear as you can watch his live sets. He beats them like they own him money, lol!!!!
Very true, James is awesome :)
Honestly I'm waiting for my pre-order xdj xz for 2 months and theses guys drop out a brand new gear. Thanx pio...
Yeah things are definitely slow at the moment
For DJs that want to get into CDJs, I would love to see a video about the last few generations of CDJs and the pros and cons vs price. Thank you!
Thanks for the idea Sherwin :)
amazing. Ordering 2
Have fun Jason
I believe that Oliver Heldens and Laidback Luke have proven that Denon is ready for festivals, Clubs, and large venues. So much so that Laidback Luke DJed on 1 Denon player during the rain.
Hopefully we'll see more big name DJs give them a go :)
unfortunately Laidback Luke plays absolute gash
@@VictorKibalchich yes true but Pioneer is also giving free kit to industry...money talks anyway..
@@Tzeiwee so is Denon
@@VictorKibalchich I stay with Pioneer but not these flops players..
Good job, PIONEER ROCKS
Thanks!
Can you rationally do CDJ3000 vs SC6000 side by side review, with this??
Well we're going to so you'll have to wait and see!
Great we can hear you better. Thanks. Da Bronx
Yeah, sorry about that
Can you use a ddj sp1 to trigger hotcues like on the nxs2?
I would use a pair of 3000s with a different mixer, even tho it means sacrificing the functionality like the integrated cue.. just personal preference about the sound
Cool :)
Great video - I just Figured out why when I try to mix the key sync must be making that song sound terrible because it’s trying to change the key way up or down and I was just trying to beat match them not key sync also .
Omg I can’t believe I didn’t realize that much sooner -duh
You live and learn :)
On the preview waveform on the 3000s is there a way to show up your cue’s or is it something that might be updated
No you can't
I'm not In a hurry to part with my nexus2s....as someone mentioned in a recent comment due to the epidemic most clubs will not be upgrading there set ups in a hurry...love my cdjnexus2s...but thank u for a good indenth review ...
Very true, an odd time to release a new product
Nice decks
Thanks for watching Rafal
What should the 'C' in CDJ stand for?
How about 'Costly'
Ha!
Lol :)
compact
CLUB
Sorry Phil but here 13:00 you were pretty wrong. They've been out for a year now and the only mentionworth update was Serato DJ support, that's it. Also Streaming requires a Wifi-card, dual layer needs separate outputs and in general Pioneer never brought major updates in the past. Now look at Denon (Engine DJ/OS 2.0) ⚠️
This has a computer built in, meaning firmware updates could bring plenty of new features in the future. It will never work for dual layer, you're right. And whether or not it has a WiFi chip built in, I don't know. Pioneer is indeed historically much more conservative than Denon DJ/Engine DJ.
@@digitaldjtips Maybe when someone has access to a Service Manual, we could find out if a Wifi chip is integrated, would be super interesting
how can i load the same track on both cdjs via link and playing at the same time on cdj3000? in cdj2000 nxs2 i used to tag the track while playing and then load it from tag list and the 2ond track was playing from the same point as the master. Now i cant do it on 3000. Can anyone help?
Would you happen to know how much did one of those cost before the pandemic hit? And the increase of taxes and price gouging began
the same more or less
can i use rekordbox 5 on the cdj s 3000 ?
or better, Can I play files from a USB stick analyzed in rekordbox 5 on a CDJ-3000? Or do they need to be analyzed in rekordbox 6?
can we cdj-3000 remap midi with the "midi-learn" feature, for example hot cue buttons do it like a some pad mode in rekordbox?
Not tried that yet!
@@digitaldjtips Thank you for answer, but this is very important for me, because i don't know buy or not buy, this is very important , if you can check this for me...please
i think ill stick with the sz and the rzx for now, better pads options and position, better search, more mobile, and half the price down. they called it cdj and it's without a cd slot wait whaaaaaat . in the end its a ddj-rzx with a bigger screen and double the price. looool pioneer. Denon just killed ya
Sounds like a plan :)
hello, I'd like to make videos with this shot too, can you explain what you used?
What shot? Overhead?
@@digitaldjtips sorry but i don't speak english, only italian, translated with google.
Vorrei sapere cosa usi per fare queste riprese, vorrei anch’io fare dei video dei miei dj set, grazie.
What I don't like is there is no mp4 support if your using a USB, I'm a video DJ so I have to use my laptop.
Thanks for watching
an i thought record decks & pioneer 500 mixer were costly 25 years ago lol
😅
I'm still waiting for pioneer's answer to the prime go, if there'll ever be one! I tried the go and it didn't work out of the box for me. 🙄🙄. I'll never deal with denon again. Second time I'm getting hit with faulty equipment. First was the MC4000.
maybe you are the problem
UNIK VIBE lol
I guess this is more of a user problem than a Denon one. Huge majority is happy with the prime units, including me (SC5000).
Would be cool to see
I've been using Denon MC6000 and now MC6000MK2 for the past 5 years and the most versatile, capable controller/mixer I've ever seen. Thing is rock solid and reliable AF. Not sure about their newer gear. But I can't rate it enough.
Does it have a WiFi card for possible streaming in the near future?
We don't have a clarification on that, we're hoping that it does and they just haven't made it public knowledge yet
@@digitaldjtips do a teardown video and we'll find out :)
Ok👍👍👍
Thanks for watching :)
41:03 Did Phil just revealed the next Pioneer product ??? An all in one standalone XDJ with the same capabilities and maybe more ?
A prediction, not a reveal...
What mixer are you using?
DJM-900NXS2
@@digitaldjtips thank you
In a club your hands tend to get sweaty, how is the screens response with moisture?
Well. That’s probably why they stay with the technology that they know works in those situations
It's actually great. Unlike multi-touch screens that have errors, the touch display on the CDJ-3000 is even resistant to accidental touch since it is pressure sensitive.
@@priyonjoni yep pressure sensitive on the CDJ-3000 so a water drop cant push buttons for you
Fucking James Hype. I fucking KNEW IT lmao
Goood shit James
James is a beast :)
“Club DJ” works for the model name now. And these are meant for the clubs.
That's true!
Does record box detect and update the key in an mp3?
Yes
Digital DJ Tips How is it against mixed in key?
And Can you link one deck with the previous generation nexus player with Link?
rekordbox can also give you the alphanumeric key and it is visible on the CDJ's and then you can transpose the track into any key you want or just sync the key to the master deck and the CDJ-3000 will put it to the closest harmonic key
Mixed in Key is better, haven't tried to link anything yet I don't see why it wouldn't work though
they can do half of what the Denon players are doing at double the price, no innovation, nice move :)
Will certainly be a hard sell for many over the competition!
How can you say no innovation from PDJ? DJM-V10, DJS-1000, rekordbox iOS, CLOUD LIBRARY SYNC, HID MODE, DVS, VIDEO, LYRIC, LIGHTING, RECOMMENDED TRACKS, MY TAG FILTER, VOCAL DETECTION, EDIT MODE... A library that is plug-n-play in nearly every venue in the world... that is just to name a few. A library that can work in every scenario. The CDJ-3000 has the best sound quality in the game, the best platter in the game, the screen is better as it is pressure sensitive rather than electrostatic which can misbehave with moisture - also these players have the strongest processor in the game that is industrial grade. TRACK PREVIEW allowing to preview tracks from the browser, TRACK CUE allowing you to listen ahead to the live track... All features that pros will love.
@@djmattplaymy sugestion is to take a look outside and see what the others were doing in this time, all those features are already present and implemented by a long time from the competition, innovation means coming with something new not copying what others have done already
@@djmattplay CDJ3000 does not have the best sound quality in the game, what planet are you living on ?. Denon have been using ESS 32bit DACs since the mc7000 5yrs ago. So Pioneer only just caught up. ESS Sabre DACs are the best in the industry. As used by AudioQuest equipment. And they DO Not have a industrial grade processor. They use the same Arm as a Raspberry Pi4.
Matt Play Look man,
No Dual Layers
No Loop Encoder (Like really?)
No Wifi
No streaming
No Standalone analysing capability
No HDD/SSD-Bay
No RGB lightning in the platter (also 2020)
No performance pads, just some cheap plastic hot cues
Only accepts SDHC with
Pioneer practically invented this category and they're "industry standard" for a reason. I cut my teeth on CDJ 800's and the fundamentals haven't changed much between the generations.
Pioneer versus Denon? If that's your focus, you're asking the wrong question. Put your hands on both and decide. It all comes down to budget and workflow. Which tool suits you best?
With that said, I'm happy to see both competition and innovation happening from both camps. I truly think Denon outdid themselves.
A level headed and sensible comment :) thanks
Those XDJ3000’s make that DJM900 NXS2 mixer look dwarfed, they’re gigantic! Where’s Leonardo DiCaprio? Those things are the size of the Titanic! It makes it way easier for DJ’s to jump to the front of them and wave their hands in the air and shout, “I’m the King of the world!” as they sync! 😂🤣
Lower your music level or raise your mic volume. Love save the day.
Thanks for that, made a note to check it for next time
I'm not too sure what you're disagreeing with here Keeny 😄
People are disappointed probably because of the name. If it was named sometime like CDJ2000NXS3 or XDJ2000 that would feel better like an evolution. But with that one they reach a new level in number and it sound like they should put more in it. Like something with the same screen and platter, but a presentation more looking like the XDJ XZ.
Hope they'll put real update on it later, because for now the only argument is the screen, the platter and maybe the hot cue. But the chip they talk about doesn't seem like a really usefull implementation as there is still no real time analysis (like on Denon Prime serie, where you can arrive with just mp3 on a USB and use like you prepare yourself). It's for pro, for sure, but I see so many top DJ that doesn't analyse their track and just play with mp3 on a USB that they quickly load in the car on their way to the gig.
Also the new look on the waveform kind of remind the new VDJ waveform with stems, with that chip inside maybe it could be added later, that would be a game changer. But the 32bit/96khz sound card sounds more like a commercial argument than a real utility (same as Denon did with their 1700 mixer some years ago) 32bit is useless when you're not recording, and very few shop sell music that goes up to 96khz, here again, it's only usefull in the production stage of a track.
I can understand that, as we said it's more of an evolution than a revolution - we're hoping for updates down the line to add features we wish were there (on-board analysis for example)
If there was ever a time to re-build the CDJ from the ground up, this was it. An incredibly wasted opportunity during a time when clubs and festivals are closed, giving ample time for power users to adapt to a new feature set and layout.
But did they need to? Was the demand for them to do that?
C should stand for Coffee, which they still dont make. Come on Pioneer!
Lol :)
C = Club/Concert. These are gonna be the decks that punters shouldn't be buying, only for venue or touring backline. I'm not a Pioneer guy, but from the outside I think the number releases they've had in the controller/deck market has been confusing. I know I'm naive, but I also couldn't understand why DJs would buy a Pioneer Nexus setup for their own personal use, and I never got their answer, largely being "it's the club standard". But wouldn't that be more about the firmware/OS rather than the hardware? I always felt that if you could get to know XDJ or XDJRX architecture, then that's more important than having to buy gear that has what's found in the club.
EDIT: I just got to 15 mins into the video where Phil mentions that these players aren't for you or me :)
Club. Yes nice one! And we agree - some people are struggling to realise that the next-gen Pioneer DJ standalones will inherit this tech and not be priced like the flagship pro media players that these are. If for some reason I wanted to buy separate media players and a mixer for myself, I’d go for the Denons as the price differential is so much, more than anything. What will be most interesting for home users is how the XDJ-XZ2 or whatever they call it competes with Denon’s tech, now that Pioneer DJ have the internals right.
great review. balanced and fair. why do we need all companies and all gear to have the same features? choose what you want and let others choose what they want! theres more than one way to skin a cat ;)
Thanks DJ Rohan!
I think most of the haters here in the comments don't own any top end products, neither from Denon nor Pioneer.
I think you’re right Andrew.
24:28 This, for me, continues to be how Pioneer differentiates itself from Denon and the likes. You can have all the bells and whistles you like, but it will always (IMO) come down to track selection and Rekordbox, from a organisational standpoint is still miles ahead of Engine Prime. And the ability to make on the fly track selections on the unit based on a myriad of subtle factors is still the selling point of Pioneer for me. You see the crowd vibing off a track you're playing and want to find something similar, so jump into MyTags on the controller and find tracks with a similar vibe/mood (assuming you’ve put the work in of course :p) Perhaps I'm just oldskool and dated though.
Thanks for weighing in John, the library management in Rekordbox is definitely excellent
Absolutely, however whilst Engine Prime is still catching up to Rekordbox from the software perspective, I like to assume it'd be easier to manage that than designing hardware that has a ceiling. I'm surprised that built in analysis isn't a feature, but I assume this could be addressed later on given the hardware that's apparently baked in.
if you rely on your software to create a playlist it means that you don't have creativity, automix can replace you. I am old school and i know all my collection. Instead of tagging , you should create a folder with similar vibe and if you forget to load a particular track streaming should be a backup plan.
@@unikvibe4281 I mean maybe, I don't think it's so much of a slippery slope (if that's what you're saying). Software (Serato in my case) is just the most comfortable way I manage my tracks to achieve a good solution. I have a friend that also does weddings, she has literally *just* stopped using CDs with her CDJ350s, and is trying USBs in folders (although she'll never give them up as a backup I reckon!) She's incredibly quick at working with the methods she uses, but would struggle with Serato - I'm the same in reverse. I'd still argue that we do the same thing.
UNIK VIBE I appreciate you taking the time to school me on what I’m doing wrong.
CDJ control desk jockey
Something like that :)
So why aren't they called XDJs?
Brand recognition
I have to disagree with you about Pioneer always doing gradual changes. Not true. If you look at CDJ history, whenever Pioneer releases a new model, the form factor changes. It did so when they released 1000's. The Pre-1000's had a different form factor and different jog wheel. Than they did it again when they released the X1, which that's when we got a feel for what was about to come as the X1 started resembling the future 2000. And off course, they did it again when they released the 2000. The form factor changed completely. It would've made sense for the CDJ 3000 to be different, but it wasn't. IMO, it should've been the NX3, not the 3000.
Thanks for watching DJ Woody, some good points :)
Making things easier in not music. It's like we forget we are talking about art and skills.
Thanks for watching
I’m my opinion the Pioneer CDJ-3000 is not worth the price the are changing for them.
There’s another company offering a better player that does more for less money.
I love Pioneer DJ products but I also like the competition, it makes them do better and we the DJs win.👍🏻
Agreed, as I say in other places if it was my money, I would not buy these. I would definitely buy the Denon equipment. None of which makes any difference to the fact that they’re going to be a success, because the people they are aiming them at will buy them
CREATIVE DISC JOCKEY = CDJ
Nice!
I really don't get the "they're not for you". WE are the resident DJs that need to be comfortable with these. All of what has been mentionned in the negative comments clearly matter to a lot of us
As we've mentioned previously the average Digital DJ Tips follower is a hobbyist DJ that plays out a few times a year, not full time DJs that are going to play on these on a regular basis (though many I'm sure will be happy this isn't a completely overhaul and the first time they come across them in clubs won't be like starting anew).
and that's why the form factor and layout hasn't changed much. Because people who play in clubs are already used to how Pioneer do things and don't want to re-learn a whole new workflow and muscle memory. I think Denon make some great kit and the competition is a good thing, but I see so many people moaning that Pioneer don't have the latest gimmicks...totally missing the point of what Pioneer kit is about.
@Ralle0990 yes, that's probably true, but that's not the world we live in.
This has a powerful PC chip inside yet it can't analyze tracks on the fly. Saaaaaad!
It is a shame, we hope that gets added
@@digitaldjtips till then Denon is King!!

Why do CDJs in the twentieth year ?
Not sure what you're asking here
I think he's asking " Why they are still making CDJs in the 2020?"
CDJ is what started it all for Pioneer DJ
I always believe all CDJs were CD players I could have ordered a pair of them

@@digitaldjtips I do, yes.
Good!
So you are saying that the Denon SC6000 is not for pro Dj and clubs but for kids oh come on. So Denon is trash in don,t think so.
I don’t think anybody is saying that
Denon are for bedroom DJs, and Pioneer are for the professional settings. Pioneer engineers have this very clear in their minds.
Well the Denon's are obviously more than good enough for professional use but you're right that you'll mostly find Pioneer in professional settings
@Ralle0990 Majority of DJs are just amateurs or bedroom DJs. You can use Denon products in professional enviroments, of course. They are in fact professional products, but they lack the polish level Pioneer ones have. They are pretty close, though. Denon feels forced to catter bedroom DJs needs more than REALLY professional DJs. Still, Pioneer products are not perfect. CD3000 is not a perfect product either.
What are club standards these Corona days anyway? All support to Denon👍 Always these overprice Pio👎
@@Tzeiwee Pioneer ones, obviously. I also support Denon, their products are also great and monopolies are bad for consumers and for the overall industry. They just can not beat Pioneer legacy and experience... yet. Pioneer is overpriced, true. But we all know that when we buy Pioneer products. We buy a heavily year-after-year tested ones. Same with Technics.
i hope that you are old enough to remember Blackberry on the phone industry
Here’s one thing … STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!
Not a choice for many DJs!
