AMERICAN MAGIC'S NEW PATRIOT REVEALED | May 7th | America's Cup

- Опубліковано 6 тра 2024
- What a day for New York Yacht Club American Magic who called for all-hands on deck at the base super-early this morning, ahead of rolling out their new AC75 at 5.45am with the first set of slightly asymmetric race foils, rudder and rig all in place and revealing an interesting deck layout putting the helms and trimmers side by side and well forward. This is a boat bristling with design features and quirks and plenty of systems upgrades, translated across from their warhorse AC75 of the last America’s Cup. Now it’s all on to try and bring the famous trophy back to West 44th Street in Manhattan - home of the New York Yacht Club.

I love the look of this boat, The cleanest lines of all of them... this will be the one to watch!
Grant Dalton said even after the cup in NZ.. if they'd given themselves more time to develop it.. he considered Stars & Strips to be potentially the fastest boat of the fleet.. this boat sure looks the business
Love the clean design of the deck in the stern and the mainsail traveller sistem too. The beautiful lines of the bow give me "modern classic" vibes. Very stable and smooth flight. Impressive for day 1! Congrats american magic, cheers from Italy 🇮🇹🇺🇸
Gran bella imbarcazione! Saluti dall' Italia.
Looking very smooth. With love from NZ 😉
Totally.
Ak
Loving the innovation. 🤞 hope they make it worth watching on TV. I’m not sure anything can beat sitting on north head and watching it IRL.
Where is Mozzie? Analysis required! Boat looks beautiful.
I also can’t wait for the 3 of them to do an in-depth analysis on Team NZ and American Magic.
Mozzie has been quiet for a little while
@mkat_551 I am hopeful, that someone, somewhere in AC world is negotiating with him and his mates to join the party and become AC pundits/analysts. They all deserve it. Their insight has been one of the highlights since the foiling age in the AC. It's a joy and privilege to have grass roots sailors such as Mozzie having a platform to share observations and technical chats. Personally I'm not a huge fan of foiling boats, but I appreciate the staggering technologies at play. This cycle is looking to be very spicy with the design variations we are seeing.
Dose someone know if they run down force during speedup Fase when both foils are down and boat is slow to add righting moment?
@@mkat_551but did a lot in the past! He deserves a break and it's getting hektick again so maybe he is just taking a break to go full on
Looks super smooth,, lets hope they haven't got any Boeing Engineers on the team.
A big day for our team! 🇺🇸
Patriot looks incredible on the water!! Super Aro.
Recumbent cyclors!?! How about that. And a very different deck sweep than the other boats. Reduces turbulence on the leeward side of the main where the air moves fastest? This will be fascinating to watch since hull design has moved in a variety of directions.
Recumbent cycling is pretty big in the US. The world HPV speed records are held every year in Battle Mountain, Nevada. The participants compete in fully faired recumbent streamliners and have achieved over 140kph. This yacht must be highly optimized for low frontal area to aid in reducing aerodynamic drag. No other reason knowing that 99% of riders adopting the recumbent riding position produce significantly less power than in the upright position.
Recumbent position is fantastic to generate power!
I hope they are the fastest one in this Cup!
Worse for absorbing impacts.
@@Lou-f impacts? In a 20 min regatta?
@@mattrolls1765 rear facing recumbent might be worse for in a crash. But it may also be better, I’m sure they have looked at it.
Terri, please bring the Auld Mug back to Newport. Ive been watching since i saw Bus Mosbacher win on INTREPID from the deck of a carrier. My dad was the mayor of Middletown then.
God bless America
Will be going back to Auckland
naa ...😉 God defend Nz
For the first sail and just one upwind, the ride height control seemed to be looking nice!
very nice
Looks like they were trying to stay as close to the water as possible. I wonder if there's something to that.
@@DJBRO2005 Yes, they will all be doing that. The goal is to seal the bottom as close to the water as possible. It helps create an endplate for the sails to keep wind from spilling under the hull.
@@JustInvertedFpv LMFAO. What?
@@JustInvertedFpvand not too hard for the rudder I guess..
Oh let's freaking go!
Looks wicked..... Nice to get it in the water and sailing first pop. This is going to be awesome event. All boats apart from Ineos have looked sharp from the start...... 🤓
Is it possible that taming the British boat means it is on the edge?
@@dulls8475 Good point
@@dulls8475nah, I don’t think so! Like in F1 (or any mechanical sport for that matter), a good car is normally fast out of the gate!
@@THIS_IS_SPARTA666 Does not have much to do with cars though does it? This is more like a plane with wings etc and many planes were not good out of the blocks until the tweeks came in. I give you the mustang for starters.
Looks very stable for its first sail upwind.
Elegant!
Beautiful lines
Stunning boat, looks innovative and fast. Could be a winner.
great comments for Terry!
Another very beautiful boat
GORGEOUS boat! Recumbent cycling - YES!
Cant wait for this AC37 racing. Gonna be a doozie. Go ETNZ
Looks pretty good for the first sail, just one more boat to be revealed
Which team?

@@Pma16 oh yeah, my understanding is that they have bought the design from the kiwis so it’s going to be very similar to theirs
Looks great! I can't wait for Mozzy comments on the lines and the original crew placement

Looking nice smooth interesting your deck and boat.
No another team getting boxes so inside hopefully patriot its fast again.
Love team NZ but patriot its nice...
Yes this looks extremely nice. Hope they are fast, I’m sure they will be. Similar design philosophy with the hull as the other two boats LRPP & ETNZ. Of course they are not the same, but you can see they have chosen a similar path.
@@fabmanly1070 Looks lower profile than all the other boats.
Kiwi sailor here, She looks good !
Beautiful boat, Looks like it could be a total weapon in lighter winds, and potentially may have a bit of pucker factor in stronger conditions.
Have a feeling this cup is going to be incredible.
USA is looking good!
Wow, she looks beautiful! Very slick.
Always like Terry, let's bring the Cup back home!
It IS home !
@@Errol.C-nz Unfortunatly the cup has probably forgotten all about the NYYC, 1983 was a loooong time ago! She will be reunited soon....hopefully.
@@matthawaii not that long ago.. nor the big boat campaign g Connors BS with the cat.. that opened the doors.. him & the NYYC called NZ "cheaters" even after their plastic fantastic BS.. we won't ever forget that such bad sports.. still are
@@Errol.C-nz I never had an issue with the Catamaran, I don't know if he had any other option. I do agree that he never should have accused them of cheating, bad form! ua-cam.com/video/pIYzgdiYgCU/v-deo.htmlsi=COWMU1VNgWTttb30&t=84
@@Errol.C-nz I think at moment in time, in 1987, he was thinking that he was stuck with the 2nd fastest boat....again. First Austrailia II, now KZ-7....two outside the box boats that will take him down.
Is that a crew pod just behind the mast????🤷♂️
looks slick, stable and fast. Super aero deck. Maybe is cup going to us this time?
Terry. The "Talk it up Merchant" of all times. Wonder why they haven't won for a while.
These boats are all just amazing. It will be interesting to see which team has the boat that is just a bit faster than the rest or can point a little higher than the rest...
interesting note is that they are using the old mainsheet design for now, there should be decent benefits to the new one LRPP and ETNZ are running
Mainsail looks to be butting up against the stern more than others?
Hmm very interesting
From reveal to hitting the water, it is late, compared with what ETNZ did.
Any footage of INEOS from the same day? They are there at 3.30
Seems to be the most skim stone pebble like hull of all the boats. I reckon it will turn on a dime. This cup is starting to look interesting.
Good planning to be later than others. They’ve had plenty of ac40 time. Gave the designers a bit more time.
❤❤❤

Looks very smooth from the get go!
Complimenti dall'Italia!
No hobby horsing/ looks very stable and smooth. It’s always the “ quiet ones” that you have watch very carefully….
Or the wild ones that need harnessing.....
The AC has an army of armchair experts whose expertise is thoroughly grounded in home team bias. That aside I know for a fact the kiwi boat is fastest hands down.
Bwahahahaha😁!! Nice one.
This boat is a weapon,…will it match the kiwis not sure.
Will be a great cup
@@glengee4462 This was a joke... No one knows which boat is fastest including the teams. And “looks” don’t tell you much.
They are all fast boats and im picking this edition will be far closer than the last
@@robinhodgkinson That's OK and I read it as a joke and sometimes sarcasm doesn't get picked up by readers. I certainly enjoyed your jab at the armchair analysts.
Davvero una gran bella barca, forse la più bella. I ciclisti posizionati più a centro potrebbero dare la possibilità di far navigare bene quando non sono sui foil e quindi favorire il decollo più facilmente.
The crew layout is VERY interesting.
Recumbent coffee grinders?
Also, it looks like they were flying as close to the water as possible. Maybe not. 🤷♂️
Yup, how they see the field, with multiple cam with huge waterproof display? Or with apple vision pro water proof versiin or F35 fighter helmet. 😂 And there is rope on each side in AM, where crew sit on another boat. But overall very interesting design, maximize wind direction to main sail, and nice aggresive at the back minimise turbulance
Crew pods closer in towards main sail. That’s gonna be detrimental to the flow over the dual skin.
Not sure about that. This boat has a flatter deck than all the other boats so far. The pods may be closer but the boat has a lower profile.
More weird boats
Weird being innovation, thinking out side the box and speed. Hell yeah!
How is this boat weird?
Im no fan of the Americans.. but.. thats the team in the finals.. Terry's a very very, seasoned campainer & learnt a LOT in nz.. easily par with Grant
A stunning boat. Hope she does well in the challengers.
Cheers NZ.
I do find the comments some kiwis make about America puzzling. What exactly is the problem with Americans.
@@idenhlm I hope you’re not referring to me. I’m very much pro American and big time. Anyway good luck with their beautiful looking boat.
Cheers Ak, NZ.
@@johnmartin7158 A response to @Errol. Apologize for confusion.
@@idenhlm ✅💯
Copycats Emirate New Zealand invention 😂😅
Huh?
@mkat_551 huh!! Who shows up in Bermuda with a new mind set invention!!! Huh huh using leg power rather than hand grinding huh!!! kiwis genius
@@jamestalagi7897 It's part of the rules this time. All teams have cyclors. The Americans have recumbent cyclors. Please stop, you're embarrassing the rest of us.
Like that all these AC75 boats are New, and have never raced - basically straight outta the moulds fitted and kitted to be out on the water, fine tuning, making this 37th challenge for the Auld Mug, the most even across the board we've, seen for sometime i.e boat build and design(as per rules).
Leaving each Team, Challengers & Defender alike having to fine tune their individual Boats and Sailing skill ready for Barcelona come this October.
