I am friend with the manager and have an EV6 myself. Looking at EV3 for my wife but a bit too small in the boot. So he suggested EV5 and he predicts it will be the biggest seller. Plus it arguably replaces the E-Niiro and looks like its XC60 size. Hopefully it will have AWD and be priced well. 🤞🤞
I agree, I think that armrest, when flipped upright, serves as an extra seat for a smaller person /child (if allowed there) but not exactly sure if I would want to sit constantly with my legs open /over the center console though.
@@JW-mx3qg Taking turns on the throttle with pops, lol. Automotive safety is the reason we don't have front row bench seating anymore. Two occupants up front, two airbags up front. I'm it could be a foot cushion for the second row middle passenger.
This feels like a truck on the inside! Canadian hockey playing vikings will like this one. Those rear seats fold almost perfectly flat. It would be amazing if they fold up
EV5 looks good, should be a popular option in the US. Bizarre arm rest but looks comfortable. Disappointing that you did not bring banana boxes to the show. Thx!
Can't wait for this one to come out to test it. I'm worried about driving dynamics and wish there was a cloth seats option with cooled seats but looks like fake leather only :/
Hopefully this has a better feel then the EV3 for me. I was heavily disappointed by it last week. Felt more like a Kia Soul update. Also pricewise Im worried. In Europe the EV3 with a bit of spec is priced close to €40.000. Since this is much bigger Im worried it will go towards €50.000. Which means bad news, because competition is priced lower then that.
Waiting for the vehicle to arrive at German dealerships. The trunk however, looks a little bit disappointing.

I was very interested in the Kia EV5 because it offers a lot of space on a small footprint. Kia is also a sympathetic brand. Unfortunately it is too expensive for the Thai market. The base model(2) even lack basic safety features. Kia also has a a very limited dealer network. I don't want to drive 200 km to my next Kia dealer...
I can't wait to have one in Switzerland. I need the 4-wheel-driven version, though, 'cause of the snow and the steep roads in the mountains. No one living here drives an only front-wheel or (even worse) rear wheel. Does anyone know when it might be available?
@@rbkfan200 Wow, you must be a really good driver! 😃 I am afraid of gliding. Perhaps we Swiss are not as used to snow as you Norwegians are ... Varme hilsener til Norge, verdens vakreste land. 🥰
I think that front passenger seat extension over the middle is one of the most bizarre design choices I’ve seen in a long time. For me it would be a deal killer for this vehicle for the sheer ridiculousness and it looks stupid to me. Also if you need to move the passenger seat forward for whatever reason, it blocks the storage underneath. It’s completely baffling to me haha 😂
If you are sat inside the EV5, one thing you are gonna immediately notice is the poor interior material quality , there are a lot of hard plastics everywhere which is not acceptable for this price range.
@@FFVoyager It's about 1.3M to1.8M THB in Thailand depending on the specs, but almost all other cars in this segment and even some cheaper ones have much better material quality.
Honestly, I own a Kia e-Soul and like some of their other 2020-ish cars as well. But even though the e-Soul was already known as a strange car back then looks-wise, the current generation EVx models is bonkers. And personally I don't mean that in a good way. Just like the EV3 I don't see any advantages or renewal compared to the Soul/Niro/Kona, it all seems to be just looks and a bigger battery. It might be me, but if this is the crop of EVs I can choose from in a years time when our e-Soul will be traded in, I won't buy another Kia anymore.
Horrible design. I prefer ev3 way more than this. As for the seat it’s Koreans being Koreans - probably someone said „it’s cool” and if it was a boss it’s a done deal.
Please focus on Thailand while you are in Thailand, not Europe. It's as if you're only making these videos as a curiosity for European people. The Thai market is large and worthy of your focus as well.
@ Yes, and I am subscribed there as well, but I wish he'd stop focusing on what's "weird" about the Thai EV market, and speak to us Thais. It just seems a bit belittling to constantly use comments like "wish we had this in Europe" "hmm, weird, this is Thailand" etc. for every video. It's like Thailand has become an oddity to him instead of a market of its own to focus on.
The reason I say this is because there are tens of thousand of English-speaking people interested in EVs in Thailand, but he seems to treat this visit mainly as a way to harvest information for the European market instead of providing details on the Thai market and ecosystem. As an example, the apps, charging stations, service centers, etc. are all vastly different here, but he won't speak to those details, nor does he on his Thai channel. He appears to be here to collect information about the future of the European market, instead of trying to inform those of us in Thailand as to the realities here.
@@skipmcilvaine He just arrived in Thailand, while the expo is active. I guess that is why he produces as much content as possible about that while it is open. He has already produced videos about having EVs in Thailand, but needs a update on that topic cos he made it when he was there a few years ago. I am pretty sure he is producing updates about that when he have free time. Now we should be thankful that he headed back to Bangkok after dropping of his family in Chiang Mai, to produce newsworthy content. ;)
It is coming to Europe. My local Kia dealer sales manager in Sweden has been to the launch and confirmed they are getting the EV5.
Nice! The dealer in my Swedish town could neither confirm or deny. It will boil down to pricing obviously, but that is a car on my wishlist.

I’m sure it will be overpriced in Sweden. Koreans must think that Swedes have Norwegian wages.
Or Skatteverket get their greedy hands on it. 😮Hence why so much cheaper in Norway. Crazy 🤷🏻

Middle seat is VERY approved by my dog!
Currently also on sale in Straya and New Zealand, also RHD markets.
I absolutely love that front seat. So practical.
What are you gonna put there LMAO

Maby the intention of that middle piece is to lay on it whyle you bend over to the passenger or vice vresa. Is more friendly to the elbow.
😅
EV5 is in Australia too, it’s a nice looking car on the road
Do you have that odd front seat too?

EV5目前全部在中国生产,暂时不会在美国出售
We don't even have EV3 yet in US and there's already another BEV Kia/Hyundai we need!
this ev5 is very good size
please take that car and full review it

Could use the middle front seat for taking a nap? 🤷
Looks like a Skoda Elroq competitor. I think both will sell well in Europe. It's a sweetspot in the market.
No way this is a Elroq competitor. Thats the Enyaq. Elroq is the competitor for the EV3.
@maikvdz251 The Elroq is wider and has a longer wheelbase than the EV5. So I wouldn't discount it as a competitor.
Pretty quiet too when u shut the door
In the olden days that would be called a split bench seat.
The seat extension is obviously for being able to make a “bed” in the car with all seats reclined 🤓
That front seat that looks double is a non-sense, but funny :)
I think the passenger seat side extension is for lady’s handbag :)
Maybe you can fit a small child seat in the front middle?

Very similar to Ioniq 5 - one of the best EVs out there.
More confort for the passenger princess while keeping her man awake on long drives 😂

Very interested in this when it launches in the UK in 2025. This and the Model Y Juniper.

Is the EV5 on sale in Europe?
Produced and selled only in china
just checked it: and now also available in Thailand and Australia
