This is by far the best saddle positioning youtube video. And I have seen them all. I think.

Brilliant coach, thanks. Flare might be it. Thinking about how Brooks saddles are so popular and sworn to be comfy, most have little initial flare!! I have been struggling with the issue of numbness and saddle sores since the 90s, dropping the Rolls and Turbo saddles and getting oldman fatter. Hope to resolve sll soon. Was moving saddles forward and bikes smaller with no luck.

Useful video, thanks. Just to point out that Selle means saddle in Italian, rather than being a particular brand, so if viewers are looking for a selle saddle as described, you’ll find Selle Italia, Selle SMP, Selle San Marco etc.

I hated flared pants. My mother made me wear a pair of green plaid flared pants. I wore them once and refused to wear anything but straight leg jeans. Thanks for the help!

Thanks coach. I am gong to reduce the flare as it seems noticeable on the chamois seam.

I was just thinking that a strong core fixes a lot of bike issues. After a lot of different saddles I tried an Ergon saddle and they worked best for me. I now have the same model of Ergon saddle on all my bikes.

Nice material, coach. What do you think about ISM Adamo PL saddles for all day efforts? Are they worth trying?

I've heard knee pain is attributed to a saddle that's placed too far back... and after watching this video, numbness (of your bits) because the saddle is too far forward. I experience both, on occasion. I'm on my 4th saddle over the years and it's easily the most comfortable and minimizes discomfort, but it's not eliminated entirely, especially while climbing. I've recently tried moving the saddle further forward. Didn't solve my issue..... I'll try a professional fit and see what they recommend.

Excellent stuff as usual coach. It would be really great if bikefits could be done through the internet. You would have a client from Brazil 🇧🇷 for sure. Kkkk. Take care.

hi Scott, does the balance test still make sense on saddles with a short front, for example in the one you have in your orbea bike?

@@BulletproofCycling do these tips also apply to set up your saddle with an exercise bike?

Is the hip roll meant to be anterior tilt or posterior? My saddle has always been nose down by 1 or 2 degrees. And for weird reason my bum has always preferred j cobb tt saddle. I also have zero offset and short torso. If its anterior tilt theres more freedom on the hip? Posterior tilt is mostly stressing the lower back over time when doing long ride? Any thoughts?

No matter what I do, saddle forwards, backwards, up, down, tilted….several different saddles, I’ve never yet been comfortable, I always get discomfort after about an hour

@@Barrygee i had a similar problem where the saddle felt good for about 1 hour and the problems started afterwards. I usually had the standard 139-143 saddles that came with the bikes and like the coach mentioned the flare was to much on most of them for me so i measured my sitbones 11,5cm and bought a 13cm sqlab 612 R saddle. For me (i cant speak for anyone else) it was an immediate difference like day and night and the best thing with sqlab is, you got 30 days of free return or swap even after you used the saddle. I did recommend the 612 to 3 friends in the meantime and 3 out of 3 loved it the moment they put it on.

SQ Lab are a great company and highly specialised in saddles 👍 I used to use one of their measuring devices many many years ago - it used paper and rigid grid you sat on! Basic bit effective 👍👍
