Yea I don’t really care for multiverse garbage which is why I never bothered with the game. Even if it was coherent, I just can’t care about infinite universe or whatever. It’s bad enough the mainline games has been infested with this slop. Onslaught seems like more of the same
The main story, from what I understood as I didn't get to play the whole thing, was a sorta original plot where Scorpion warns Raiden & the White Lotus of Shinnok trying to collect some maguffins that would make him all powerful or something. They also have events which sometimes(?) take place within the main story or are just some multiverse AU that's a one-off.
I like how despite his misgivings with how MK has gone, he even sees potential for the bad stuff like Cole Young to add something to MK. You can tell he really loves the series and sees the flaws can be made better.
The Old Timelines getting restored is very clever and I feel it's canon too considering how some of them pop up, sorta, in the invasions cutscenes. Atoner Raiden is something I like to think about often too, rather than joining the alliance, him doing so alone going from timeline to timeline as a helping wanderer. Heck throw in a purified version of the Dark Raiden armor haha. Great video dude, I love your content as usual. Your ideas here cooked.
Not even the fkn spaghetti code of Limbus Company kept Project Moon from giving their Alternate IDs full backstories for their timelines, what's MKO's excuse
Honestly it would’ve been interesting seeing the reformed raiden hunting down dark raiden from the midway era that’s been going through timelines Collecting like-minded followers who seeks to bring order through extreme methods.🐱
If we wanted to get even crazier, we could also add in some of the frankly unique designs that were completely exclusive to MK Mobile and explain their existence or make up new story for them. Like you're seriously telling me Kenshi has a variant where he's an Elder God, Scorpion who is part of a spec ops team called the Strike Force, and the entirety of the Day of the Dead team, along with the Kombat Cup team. All of this would be a fun time around and would make the game feel less underground due to the fact that there is 0 story to the game other than some brief text descriptions from quest mode or battle mode, and it's mostly just a grinding simulator to collect cards which can tire out some people without any immersion to getting them.
Theres a team called Cold, the name was Cold War before, it was changed because of what was happening in Russia and Ukraine, its the only team that we can tell in what universe takes place
I could have lived with the plot being some multiverse mashup, Opera Omnia did this to great effect and the game made bank for 5 years iirc. I would have kept the plot in a way where it would have branched into a few groups each doing their own thing, like you typically want the MK games to do, with some events even not having as much to do with the main story, and being just for the character they're trying to sell. But the gameplay doesn't really carry over well, as odd as it'd be for MK, doing a turn based RPG would have done wonders for an MK gotcha. You could have each character easily specializing in different roles and each event reflecting this in the boss fights. As an example, you have a Sub Zero event where his gimmick is that he supports the team by Freezing the target for a turn, preventing their attack, and another where he could maybe add Ice Armor, and the Event Boss could be Infernal Scorpion, and his thing would be to build up his flames to deal powerful attacks, but if you Freeza him with Sub Zero, you can both skip his turn and cool him down, making his stack of flames drop to decrease his damage, or you could use Ice Armor on your weaker guy to protect them from a one shot as an example, and since MK has so many different characters and monsters, there's a lot you could do, and the budget needed to create say, each character with 3-4 super moves at first would be easy, and later into the game, you can add another move thats tied to some sort of gear that you could earn or buy with an in game currency tied to real world money partly. It isn't hard for someone to make a decent gotcha game..
I don't like how the multiverse nonsense has made it it to the point where what was once skins is now variants. Even League of Legends is doing it these days, with all the skins now being part of a canon multiverse.
My idea of Onslaught was to make a Marvel's Battleworld type of Time-Line A mash-up of different Time-Lines in one (kinda like Titan Havik's Time-Lines, but i will talk about it later) My OG idea was that among the Infinite Time-Lines there was one where The One Being awakened and defeated/devoured the Elder Gods (becoming truly The Only One Being [of that Time Line]) but afterwards he felt lonely and regretted destroying the Realms, so looking onward then he perceived The Other Time Lines and decided to steal pieces from them to recreate his Own Realms/create his Perfect Time-Line (Also the Player would be implied being this One Being or at least his Avatar/Agent) After the Chaos Reing then my idea would be to place this Game in Titan Havik's Time Line (as its already a mash-up of different Time-Lines)
Ps: also about The One Being's Idea The Idea was to add a Tycoon/Management Simulator Mechanic to the Game That would give you a penalty if you made Good Guys or Bad Guys win too many times Something like: ``The Good Guys won too many times and separated the Time Lines, in the effort of recreating your Perfect Time-Line then you lost 50% of your resources`` Or ``Character X Won the (Whatever/Mortal Kombat) and now he has Defeated all the Good Guys, in the effort to restore the Time-Line then you wasted 50% of your resources``
Onslaught's story should have come to MK Mobile. And most of the characters' designs were very good. The designs of characters like Cyber Smoke and Cyber Sub-Zero, Undying Shao Kahn were legendary. And Arctika Sub-Zero. That was so cool.
Ironically Onslaught had a way better story and focused on the old storylines that a lot of us MK fans wanted, so shutting it down is honestly baffling to me. Then again…this is WB, I’m not mad, just disappointed with Netherealm.
It would be cool to see more interesting what if's like Scorpion slaughters the Lin Kuei and finds the Cyborg plans so its a Cyber Shirai Ryu campaign.
Pardon, But I have ideas you can have for Wasted Potentials. Smoke. Because they rushed the end of Raiden’s Timeline, Smoke got nothing after his MKX cameo. Even when they brought him back in MK1, all he got was us fighting him as Kung Lao and he didn’t even get a story chapter in the DLC story. What a shame {:’( Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) Scorpion also suffered due to NRS rushing the end of Raiden’s Timeline. He didn’t get a redemption Ark when he meets up with Sindel who gets restored by the elder Gods to make sure they’re not useless all the time. They say he and Sindel will have to restore the rest by themselves or the Elder Gods would meddle in the affairs of mortals and make themselves as bad as Shinnok. They left behind something to help them do it. They restored all the remaining Revenants including Kitana and Liu Kang who is now a kid anthro dragon, with dark red skin, and outfit similar to his Time Warriors outfit and bright red boots with metal plating. He cries and is enraged at himself for what he did to Sonya because he refused to listen to Raiden which led to his accidental death, But Scorpion cheers him up. Now fully alive and cute, Liu ends the story by trying to stop Dark Raiden because Kronika’s “manipulates time for balance between good and evil” mumbo jumbo, Shao Khan’s return ps and that reset is saved for a SSB-like game which tires to bring in as much MK characters as it can since it would be suiting for a story like that. Khameleon. Should have been her as in MK1 DLC instead of Mileena so that red people get a representative instead of having none while the Tarkatans get 2. MK1 Khaos Reigns. Why did it have to be emperor WW2 Johnny Cage, Emperor Rain and Empress Tanya? Why couldn’t we have had people fans would be happy to see again like Stryker(a Cameo) with Tanya with a mouth mask and his Deception outfit and Rain in his 11 outfit (Which can change his move set and intro animation if you select that skin) from a timeline where Edenia and Outworld are different planets? And I don’t mind if Noob Saibot was the one to take Titan Havik down as long as there’s an explanation of how he was able to match a titan’s might. But when the battle has ended. They could have pulled an Injustice 2 and had Bi Han’s forces and Liu Kang’s forces end the story with a final showdown with each other. Not over whether they should kill Havik, But other the Lin Kuei wanting not to be Liu Kang’s goons why Liu Kang himself saying it’s better that why. I actually quite like Bi Han because I don’t understand why it’s so important for them to be controlled by Liu Kang. I listed the issues I had with that here. www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/comments/1gl0ms6/what_bi_han_right/ Why Kuai Liang and Tomas would be loyal to Liu Kang after he framed them for being criminals to test 2 people? Why do they hate Bi Han for doing what he says is best for the clan they were raised in and a part of? I think these are important matters to touch on since this conflict played a big part in the DLC story. And we could have at least seen more of the ending like a successful attempt at that wedding or more of the base characters.
Hey 4th snake, what r ur opinions on super smash bros brawls subspace emissary as a story? I personally liked it and I wish world of light did what they did, maybe u could do a wasted plotential on world of light.
That’s one of my many problems with mk 1 if you’re going with the multiverse route why not bring back mk 11 characters and classic versions in the Armageddon battle
Ironically Onslaught had a way better story and focused on the old storylines that a lot of us MK fans wanted, so shutting it down is honestly baffling to me. Then again…this is WB, I’m not mad, just disappointed with Netherealm.
It's sad to know that the overall story of Mortal Kombat is so bad that there is a Wasted plotline of basically everything in the franchise nowadays.
Oh, you don't even know the half of it.
Trust me on that.
Everything being about timeline multiverse nonsense instead of one simply one gradual, focused, and expanding narrative only makes it far worse
I’m still confused on what Onslaught was all about, didn’t help once MK1 content was added to the story.
Yea I don’t really care for multiverse garbage which is why I never bothered with the game. Even if it was coherent, I just can’t care about infinite universe or whatever. It’s bad enough the mainline games has been infested with this slop. Onslaught seems like more of the same

And he loathes Kronika but still acknowledges she may return as the final final villain to close out the multiverse arc
In my opinion Cole Young only fault is starring into a Bad Movie
4:38 top right Scorpion looks familiar XD
Ah, yes, that warrior of yours, who is klling M̶̯͕͚̞̦̼̗͚̫̺̝̈́̈̎͋͐͆̀̒̓Y̵̩̘̼̪̹̳̣̟̜͈̑̎̾̏̑̄͆́̿̂ Lin kuei assasins, is doing such an excellent job
Mexico Scorpio lol
Onslaught died because Reptile wasn't in it XD
So Liu Kang builds his own TVA.
I didn't know it flopped so bad theybjust pulled the plug. Like a mobile version of Concord.
The Old Timelines getting restored is very clever and I feel it's canon too considering how some of them pop up, sorta, in the invasions cutscenes.

Great video dude, I love your content as usual. Your ideas here cooked.
This is too awesome to be mobile
This needs to be a full spin off game
Your idea sounds so frickin cool! I want to see MKX Scorpion fight against Deception Sub-Zero! This should be a full on game!
Not even the fkn spaghetti code of Limbus Company kept Project Moon from giving their Alternate IDs full backstories for their timelines, what's MKO's excuse
PM mentioned, once again I see some of my favorite game series cross paths in mentioning
Pm mentioned. True though like what? Mk can't come up with a paragraph of words to explain a character's backstory.
i love ur vids on MKOnslaught, one of my favorite things on the channel
I can't stand to see what this series has become. It's genuinely sad.
Well now you have to do a wasted potential of khaos reign.
@4:40 that picture of all the Scorpions is awesome lol
Honestly it would’ve been interesting seeing the reformed raiden hunting down dark raiden from the midway era that’s been going through timelines Collecting like-minded followers who seeks to bring order through extreme methods.🐱
Another banger video!

Onslaught was good but it lacked a lot of things which devs did not give a damn about
Okay we need to talk, the mk3 outfits in M1K are Mk4 outfits. They even have the pointed top too.
I think they’re just inspired by the UMK3 artwork which has that cartoony style with the pointed “ears”

Interesting concept it's unfortunate that wb games are not going to use it
I didnt even know this game was released
Looks like the embargo was lifted on Onslaught.
Snake, have you seen the new MK1 Funko Pops yet? Currently its Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang and Mileena.
Under 45 minutes gang.
Ironically Onslaught had a way better story and focused on the old storylines that a lot of us MK fans wanted, so shutting it down is honestly baffling to me. Then again…this is WB, I’m not mad, just disappointed with Netherealm.
I was just enjoying the cutscenes of Onslaught
It would be cool to see more interesting what if's like Scorpion slaughters the Lin Kuei and finds the Cyborg plans so its a Cyber Shirai Ryu campaign.
So Cyber-smoke, but recolored yellow?
Call me pesimistic but I don't think they'll ever abandon the multiverse bullshit.
Kiss Mortal Kombat goodbye, boys. Now it's Multiverse Kombat
I'll be honest. MK going multiverse as part of the core story really just kills it for me. I just am not interested into this corner they've written.
Pardon, But I have ideas you can have for Wasted Potentials.

Hey snake, can you do an a line through time of splatoon please
im bitter kitana soloing mileena, tanya, shang, quan chi, sindel, and shao kahn back to back isnt canon 💔
That’s one of my many problems with mk 1 if you’re going with the multiverse route why not bring back mk 11 characters and classic versions in the Armageddon battle
no potential was wasted, the game was awful
it had no potential
Too Dope to be a mobile game, but wasn’t enough to have been great DLC for MK 11. The fumbles been racking up lately.
Well crap. And I wanted to play that game when I get a better phone. Gotta make my own MK gacha game in Scratch, if possible.
Im sick of this multiverse shit
Mortal kombat onslaught is a waste all because it's the only way to play cross platforms it was never like that with mk11 sign in and play a way.
We don't talk about Cole!
Good let onslaught die because frankly this mobile game was a bad idea from the start in my opinion
Ironically Onslaught had a way better story and focused on the old storylines that a lot of us MK fans wanted, so shutting it down is honestly baffling to me. Then again…this is WB, I’m not mad, just disappointed with Netherealm.
