    I had a seen a lot of youtube videos on how to make paper briquettes and wanted to add to wide varieties of videos. I this video I have made my own paper briquettes and even cooked with it. It's very easy to make and maybe you too can give it a try. I am not claiming this to be an alternative source of fuel but its quite an interesting project to try!!!

    Add some waste cooking oil on them few hours before use. Flame will stay on from start to finish like this :) Cool video

      That a really nice thought and an awesome way to re-cycle wasted kitchen oil that runs in drain. Thanks for the tip!

      1 more trick : since you use only paper get PVC pipe, drill few holes, chop a log to fit that pipe and sit on it few seconds. If you mix paper with sawdust, grass, coffe...whatever it burns and is free then you need more pressure. Less paper = more pressure. Good luck and have fun testing :)

      we plan on making this part of our research, our goal to increase the lifespan so is it a bad idea to add it? so far we included sawdust and coffee grounds

    Other alternative, just soak the newspaper, used paper, cartoon old calendar, it will absorb water then it's easy to tear apart, then you can make use of your hands to squeeze the water from the soaked material. Make it round as you squeeze water from it

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  5 днів тому

      That should work too. The reason why we pack it so tightly is to help it burn longer with a sustainable flame. squeezing with hands might be hard and also have more air gaps. It will make the briquette burn faster and the flame will be more. My suggestion is to make a similar jig with plywood or metal and squeeze it as much as you can

    I also noticed that the paper briquette does not uphold constant heating. The flame dies off and becomes too smoky

    Interesting concept. If you char the briquettes first they will definitely work better.

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  Рік тому +1

      True. But My idea was to conserve energy as much as possible. To char it , again we may need to use fuel.( or may be we can put it in the TLUD stove....hmmmm got me thinking again!...thanks for the comment!

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  2 роки тому

      Yes you can, but what's the point of wasting energy when we are trying to recycle . Let the sun do the job for free!

    I really like this idea, thank you for sharing it with us. I think I will try to make some as well, but instead of briquettes, I think I will use a PVC pipe that is about 3.8 cm wide and about 31 cm long so I can make small paper 'logs' to use as firewood. Dhanyavaad.

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  Рік тому +1

      Could work as both but the heat of the flame is a bit feeble. Not sure how to explain that. I mean, you don't get the same amount
      of heat as wood. ( Probable needs to be compressed even more) . Otherwise ,you can use it for both!

    Well I found it useful but useless bcz you made them to big for one and two you needed a pump to cook. I wanted a new way to make briquettes thank you for that but I think I’m going to try this but I’m a smaller size

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  10 місяців тому

      Making the right size briquette with the right material is something we should experiment. For example, if we make it out of sawdust, how dense it should be, what would be the binder, and what size will burn with efficiently? Will it produce too much heat and burn faster, or make too much smoke and burn slower? How big for a chuck can you feed in the stove without suffocating it and fan frequently ...These are some of the things to keep in mind. I could not diversify my experiment at that time due to a lack of tools. But if you are going to try these inputs should help you do better than I did.

    Buy charcoal it’s cheap and easy

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  4 роки тому +3

      True, but making briquettes can save a few bucks. I am using paper here. A priest friend of mine said that they used to make briquettes using saw dust and wax. Cause they lived their lives in 14 century way for an year. In rural India, people collect dry leaves and turn then into charcoal powder. This powder is then converted to charcoal briquettes. This way, they can save their forest.
