I like red roses especially the dark ones but I prefer seeing them grow in my yard instead having them in a bouquet.

Nothing beats Lavender & Jasmine for me by far my 2 favorites. Personally I never liked Red Roses for some reason I would rather have White. If we're talking about not natural then I take Blue or Black.

Both of them smell nice! And I prefer black roses as well.

@@kjrasa My compliments to whoever did that first dying White roses. I like the Cobalt, Navy or Midnight the color of Dark Blue. I even saw a Hunter Green Rose before now that look nice as well.

On April 23, in the territory of Catalonia (Spanish north-east) we celebrate Saint Jordi. It's like a 2nd Valentine's Day in which lovers exchange roses and books.
It derivates from a legend in which Sant Jordi goes after the rescue of a princess, killing the evil dragon in the process. From the dragon's blood, a rose appears and he picks it up and gives it to the princess.
People tend to give red roses, but yellow roses are also popular since that's Catalonia's color.
Btw, in Spain the rose is also used for socialism, in the logo of PSOE (Partido Socialista Obrero Español). Might be a multi-cultural symbol?

Thanks for sharing! And I think the relation between socialism and red rose might be quite multi-cultural. I've just researched further and Italian Democratic Socialists also use a red rose as their symbol too!

I interpret their meaning as "hidden danger" their beautiful red color draws you in, and the thorns prick and hurt, but you want to keep holding the rose, because it is so beautiful. So they could also symbolize manipulation.
