he started by listening to this type of music, then DJing on a radio show with a friend, then producing some stuff with whatever was available (he might have had some hardware synths, but really even free soft synths are a way to start). then he decided to keep doing it, and doing it... until he played live shows with his own tracks.... and he got big. cheers mate!

Cubase for mixing, Ableton for tracking/editing/composing/arranging. It's a pretty common worklow.
He used FLStudio for a while too.

for a second I thought that the bass was so strong that it messed up his cam... but then I noticed it's an after effect cause it was effecting the Ustream also
@mcrkid22 The distortion buttons are there, the knob you are seeing is probably the "Type/mix" knob, there is another knob next to it but you can't really see it unless you look carefully due to the lighting from the computer display

i saw an interview once where he said he uses ableton for most of things, but uses programs like FL and Logic for other things too.. its a combenation of all programs mixed together in abe i belive, FL he mainly uses for quick drum loops and stuff

he has recently said that he uses cubebase for mixing everything and then a few more programs for other shit, he doesnt use pro tools. he then rewires everything back to ableton live

At 6:33 he plays the bass, side chained. Now, whenever I side chain something I can always very faintly hear the side chain processor. Is there a way of sending a side chain to something without hearing the processor?
