Michael is right. People do sue other people for saving their life. But if you are CPR certified and the situation demands it, they can still sue but they won't win.

It can vary from state to state and usually you have to be certified in CPR or have another license that qualifies you. This is because broken ribs aren't really the half of it; CPR given incorrectly to a dying person can cause serious damage to their sternum or make them throw up and in so doing cause them to suffocate.

The "Good Samaritan Law" states that you can't be sued if you try to save someone's life.
Not all states have one.
You are correct however if the person is able to respond or not you should always ask if they would like your assistance. This will always eliminate any chance of them being angry you accidentally harmed them.

Good Samaritan laws only apply to people who are certified to provide medical assistance. If you're not certified and you think someone needs help, you damn sure better be able to produce evidence that the person 100% would have died if you didn't intervene, otherwise you're getting your balls sued off. You are told this in any CPR/AED/First Aid/First Response class (at least American Red Cross and American Health Association do).

It's sad that people sue people over a broken rib(s) after that person saved their life. However, as far as the law is concerned, if you aren't CPR certified, you aren't allowed to give CPR. The good samaritan law only protects you if you're qualified to give the help you're giving. Personally, I despise the existence of lawsuits. It's only led to a more hostile society where people refuse to help each other.

Weird how people are complaining about the sponsorships. It's 15 dollars every six months. You get almost all videos that come out on their site early, live podcasts, sponsor cuts, deleted scenes, extended episodes, and discounts in the store. There's probably more that I'm forgetting but really though. It's worth it and it isn't just some scam so you give them money. They've had it for years.
They also put out free stuff, usually the best stuff is on UA-cam within a week that it comes out, i don't pay for videos, I don't see why you would, but it doesn't annoy me because that's there company and how they keep going

I wonder if these guys realize how much I love them. When I'm feeling depressed they're there to cheer me up. Just want to give some knowledge on the whole CPR topic. There is a thing called the Good Samaritan's Act (possibly spelled wrong) that prevents you from being sued in the event of you saving someone's life. The person does have to be unconscious, and I believe that having certifications like CPR-C or NLS are required. To perform any kind of medical assistance to a person you must get their consent first, so unconsciousness counts as consent (sounds kind of rapey when out of context). Like they said, having a broken rib is better than dying. Also, It is a good sign if the ribs do break, because it means that you are applying the right amount of pressure. Lastly, the form of CPR that lacks Rescue Breathing (Mount to Mouth) is the civilian version. Trained people do the entire process. I know all of this info because I am a certified life guard, and finished my training 3 months ago. if anyone has any questions, leave a comment. Thanks for reading!

Davelock bystanders aren't protected. Certified responders are. Kinda sucks, but they use the defense "he wasn't certified, so he doesn't know what he's doing and that's why I have broken ribs, blah,blahblah." I hate the whole thing. Dude saves a life, people should be grateful.
Rescue Breathing is part of CPR in the United States as well, or at least part of CPR for medical personnel. And the Good Samaritan Act applies as long as your actions remain in the scope of your training. So if you've only been trained in CPR, you obviously should not be trying to perform an amateur tracheotomy when the person isn't breathing. Trying to do something you're not trained to do invites you for getting your ass sued off.

PsyDarkness236 You do have to fill a double chest, it just doesnt have to be filled at the same time, they got the achievement because they had previously put cobble in a chest from their achievement race, you dont need a full double chest at once, just over the course of time, put enough cobble in a chest to fill a double chest.

I don't know if they'll ever read this, but the Good Samaritan laws protect people from being sued for attempting to rescue someone, even if they are unsuccessful and that person dies. To my knowledge, one has to be trained and certified in CPR to get the full protection.
i took a class for CPR and they tell us to ask first if they can respond in anyway because they can sue. but if they cant respond they say make a decision
