I worked as a bill collector for many years, and as there is not a patron Saint specifically for collectors, I prayed for St. Matthew’s intercession daily. Needed his help in that job! Still when I pray the Litany of the Saints, I feel his presence in a special way.

Thank you Father Gabe for this powerful homily. It was stirring and inspiring and right on point. While reading today’s scripture while waiting for my in person MASS to begin this morning, I was struck by the line “I desire mercy not sacrifice”. I explain: before MASS begins the church tends to be very noisy, especially on weekends, then that passage reminded me that everyone is there seeking mercy and to love Jesus and if their chatter (lots of elderly who talk in stage whispers ) annoys me and my ability to pray it’s not about me. I think for the very first time my lens was truly adjusted. It is so great to have you back with your angelic chanting of the MASS. God bless you. I hope you have the opportunity enjoy Polish day. I commented yesterday that it would be wonderful if the National Shrine added an Italian Day 🇮🇹🇺🇸🇮🇹to its ethnic celebrations.
