"Divine wrath is abhor to evil due to His holiness" - St John of Damascus in exact exposition of the Orthodox Faith "The action or God's wrath consist in ceasing His communion and benefits to the transgressor" - St Theophan the Recluse That's why God breaked communion with humans when they in Edem transgressed and didn't even taked moral responsibility and restored the communion with them when the sinless Godman corrected their disobedience by His ultimate obidence of sacrificial love when He even took their sins on Himself in the Cross, the sacrificial love of Christ corrected Adam's betrayal and appeaed the divine wrath
God doesn't hate nobody, that Jewish word in Semitic languages means REJECT not hate. And Jesus didn't take sins but washed them with His Blood, i think it's Ortodox view
I almost skipped over this podcast because I don't know who you are. But this is exactly the type of thinking I am interested in, and it is very timely for me. I found it knowledgeable and balanced.
I consider myself a (very) hopeful universalist. Saint Isaac the Syrian has written some wonderful writings on the love of God. While God's wrath is real, it is corrective with an end goal in mind...the ultimate reconciliation of all creation. By the way...glad you're YouTubing again.
@@prayunceasingly2029 After much further reading on the topic, it’s a consensus among the fathers, the councils and the Saints of the Church that universalism is NOT an Orthodox teaching.
That early comment on wrath and God having to create to perfect to display his perfections was phenomenal wrath was in front of the beginning and they'll say it was in him but he needs an object he has no wrath towards any other member of the trinitarian family I'd like you to talk about that more and I'm willing to donate to do it
I have become a new donator by the way and I am confused because of Calvinism and God having two wheels and I had some great truth from the early fathers and I let it be robbed for me and I wish I wouldn't have listened to men who write these tight books and incarnation itself was liberating thinking that humanity was taken up in the body of Christ totally liberated me and I haven't recovered yet from the torment but I meant that comment two weeks ago and I fell away in some sense
@@ronfeledichuk531 This is a bit of a riddle, but think about this. If the world changes and if God were to undergo no change in disposition towards the world, then God would have to change along with the world. However, since the world changes and God does not change, then He necessarily reacts to the world's change because He does not evolve over time and change His standards. In other words, if God's internal standard never changes, the change of the world will necessarily lead to a particular response from God, whether anger or approval, from His own eternal unchanging nature. Or else He would change along with the world.
what do you say if someone said what about the eternal idea of God which is thought up in His Will rooted in His freedom? COuld you not say that the wrath was there in the Divine Idea that He thought up?
Hah, I literally wanted to make a series of videos on wrath of God. Thanks for sharing this!
Do it, please.
@@lucianhodoboc1611 Already have 4 episodes on it :-)

This is the first time I heard God's humility manifest in the trinity describes as you did. How wondrous, glory to God!
wow this is great, really helping me understand the Orthodox view which i’ve been leaning towards. considering conversion to Orthodoxy as well.
Did you convert? (Just curious if you don't mind me asking).

Neglected topic. Great insights. Christ is Risen!
Thank you for this video (and for your channel). I am a catechumen in the Orthodox Church.

Just saw this link on UA-cam. It really helps me understand the wrath of God which sadly some Orthodox ignore.
I agree! It's not an area really dwelt on enough from my experience. But I guess the world isn't as I think it should be.
This was so good there's so much Harmony that I've missed by being involved in the Evangelical Bible I need to find a place to hear the word please
Awesome share, thanks for the education on this topic.

Great! Also checkout my channel too sub if you want?
St. Isaac is a great Saint.
Many orthodox say that universal salvation isn't the historical orthodox teaching.

Interesting!
I'm not an expert on that issue but this is what I have heard from the orthodox who are more informed.
Extremely helpful video explanation, thank you
Thanks for posting this.
“Wrath is not its own end. God judges for the sake of salvation.”
thank you so much for this detailed explaination

Hi Kabane, Thanks for your video. Do you have a transcript for this video?
This is very insightful exegesis!
Well done video.
deep calls to the deep.. thank you so much for this..
I wouldn’t say God has emotions rather God just us and acts according to his goodness and our subjective human experience labels those as emotions
Great talk, thanks.
As a Protestant, I found this interesting. It adds to my perspective of God’s actions in protecting his people and creation.
Can I ask what Eastern Orthodox patriarchate you are under?
@Seraphim Hamilton God doesn't hate nobody, that Jewish word in Semitic languages means REJECT not hate.
Excellent
very good
You say God has emotions yet other Orthodox say God is passionless. Who is correct?
Both, as passion is being used in its older sense of denoting passivity rather than the qualitative experience of charity or the like.
@@Seraphim-Hamilton but would this not mean that in some ways God can change. I'm not following your line of thinking.

@Seraphim Hamilton hey bro whats your email
This is very good but the energy that he is talking about confuses me. That sounds more like Hinduism or budaism. Energies throw me. Explain it better
Please start writing books😀❤☦
They are absolutely true
what do you say if someone said what about the eternal idea of God which is thought up in His Will rooted in His freedom? COuld you not say that the wrath was there in the Divine Idea that He thought up?
If God is eternal, his wrath isnt thought up, it stems from his eternal person which doesn't change.
