vintage .. recovered spool disconnected ..ABU CARDINAL 54,554,154 and 55

Great hook to make, perfect and durable but there are weaknesses on the spool which is made of plastic mixture,
in life long hot and dry weather in the equatorial spool makes it fragile and break.

Take care when store this reels with strong tensioned wett and soft monofil lines on spool ! The strong tensioned wett lines start to shrink when drying and splitt the spool . The first warning signes are viseable when the lines got fully removed from the spool and you can find signes in shape of cutts into the spool axel !

Thank you for showing this problem. I bought four old Garcia Cardinal 754 and one 755 reels and did not know about the bad spools. Can you show how you made the new aluminum spools? I have a machine lathe and can try to make my own. You have very nice collection of vintage reels. Can you check to see if the 154 spool will fit on a 754 reel?
