Second off the true effects of memory bandwidth can only be seen on a case by case basis depending on game (kinda like DOOM Eternal and others) and only compared to other cards because a "reliable" tool to measure GDDR bandwidth doesn't exist necessarily, and recent advances in low latency L2, and L3 cache capacity significantly mitigates cache misses on a choice resolution frame buffer. Third a PCIE slot bandwidth bottleneck can only ever be hit if the CPU pipeline for the GPU rendering hits that amount which your not going to unless you have an RX 7600 on PCIE 3.0 8x, even then its marginal like 5-14% less performance so this point depends, though cards exist where its a major problem like Rx 6500xt on Pcie 3.0 4x...
So the vram havent that much to say after all? People now days want to future proof with 16gb and think 12gb would be minimal soon. Should think the 12gb gave more fps then the new 8gb? Looks like it’s not easy to tell. 8gb seems still strong and deliver ultra 1440p still.

im leaning towards the 3060 12gb. just because you will benefit more from the extra 4gbs of vram on rendering, and livestreaming. but my answer wont be the same if you prioritize gaming more than rendering.
so I dont get it I was watching videos of benchmark to compare what desktop graphics card would be compare to my rtx 4070 laptop graphics card but on cyberpunk it gets less frames then a 4060 ti it seems but on the witcher 3 it gets more ? this is crazy. with this same settings I get over a 100 frames but no cyberpunk the results are different comparing to this graphics cards. Why ? note this is in 1080p for anyone reading this. so like on palworld it is like a 3060 it seems but on the witcher 3 it surpasses a 4060 ti and on cyber punk it doesnt surpass neither. then on resident evil 4 it is more on par between a 3060 to a 4060 I am really confuse

I bought a VGA RTX 3060 12GB in new condition 1 week ago, I didn't use additional cooling, when I played games for about 1-2 hours, in some games the temperature reached 80-85°. Is this normal for some VGAs in new condition? As long as I played there were no problems with FPS drops or lag
i have a prebuilt pc w rtx3060 12gb i5 12400f 16gb 3200mhz win 11 and get 80+ all the time w 87celsius at maximum temp(if i lower the fps during games i lower the temp to ofcourse and in some games i do this due to not needing more then 75fps on my 75hz screen) But getting over 80 selcius is normal for me in newer game titles and 70c+ in older and i guess it also depends on the fans u have in desktop(i guess) as far as i undrstand u should only get worried if tem goes up to around 90celsius due to not being a amd gpu that seems to handle temp better
I had the same question when i bought the 4060. My piece of advice: Check GPU outputs (you may need more or less DP/HDMI, depending on your situation, this didn't really matter to me). Check the core/boost clock, ideally you want the higher possible, but honestly it doesn't really make a difference. Check if the gpu fits in your case, depending on the manufacturer they are different size. Personally i bought the 4060 eagle oc, because i like 3 fans look and It was pretty cheap. Dual fans are cheaper usually and same performance, but honestly, i like the look of 3 fans. Did u already buy it?

this is all out of the box no over clocking of the cards i know i have both and when over clocked they are pretty close in fps range maybe 5fps difference
Interesting, that 3060 using more pc RAM. But in general, almost the same card, just "future proofness of 12gb VRAM" vs -60w to the electricity bill. Hopefully rtx 5000 will be even more effecient, kind would like 4080 peformance card with 200w undervolt for 600usd with 16gb VRAM.
As I always thought, vram doesn't matter that much, but the GPU itself matters a lot. It's like ram and CPU, if you have 8gb of ram with a weak CPU vs 4gb of ram with a stronger CPU.
4060 is only better for streaming because of the av1 encoder other than that the 3060 is the better choice if u don't care about that, I just ordered a 4060 yesterday and i plan to stream with it (coming from a 1650 btw)

The point is that if you have the 3060 already It is a waste to upgrade to the 4060, the direct upgrade, because it is just not worth spending 350$/€ for a slightly better card. I think you should wait for a 5060 then, or pay much more and buy a 4080

I'd get a 4060 or 4060Ti 16GB-only in case I haven't had 3060Ti already. Now, there's simply no way I'll upgrade. For those with much older GPUs, sure, go for it. Also, the power consumption is extremely welcome feature in the 4000 series. However, I have a feeling, the XX50 name-brand in 4000 series turned them into XX60. I mean, the 4060 is the 3050 or 3050Ti at least. Just take the memory's bit bus width. The 4060Ti became the 3060 and so on. Similarly, for all other products of the 4000 series except the 4090. This is what essentially reduced the power consumption. Whatever gains the new generations got, we'll see 'em in 5000 series where they revert back to normal TDM (Thermals/Powe Consumption). That's why I might get a 5060Ti (this card at 170Watt is going to be better than 4070 Super) in case it comes with at least 12GB GDDR7 VRAM. However, I'm afraid the new memory type alone is going to skyrocket the prices.

you should know the definition of VRAM first to understand this. Some unoptimized games/super intensive games use more than 8GB VRAM RTX 4060 is 15% faster than RTX 3060 but in some games that require more than 8GB of VRAM, it will stutter on some area that is intensive. Example of games that is unoptimized properly: RE4 Remake that is in this video, even though the graphic is not that good but it uses more than 8GB of VRAM causes RTX 4060 to stutter. but you can always disable/lower some settings to lower VRAM usage (such as depth of field/motion blur/etc) if you have the budget RTX 4070 is the sweet spot right now or wait for 50xx series, but my RTX 4060 is good enough for me. if you play on 1080p max or 1440p veryhigh to max RTX 3060/RTX4060 is enough if you uses RT on every games, you should use DLSS on RTX 3060/RTX 4060 which sacrifice the sharpness of the image.

But on long term (over 1 year) you go in 4060 favor, the 10C difference makes +1C extra in your room, during winter time, so you pay less for the gas bill and for the electricity (huge in favor of 4060). Lol nope. its impossible to do a format like this on helldivers. Even if youre on the same planet the areas will be vastly different everytime you deploy. The only way you can do a side by side frame comparison on this game is on the ship or in tutorials. Which is not representative of game performance.
Going from my XFX 5700xt Ultra Thicc III and was looking for a good upgrade and the TDP it runs compare to The Asus Rog Strix 4060 OC 8gb card far as TDP and MHz is a way better with the Nvidia Auto Tuner it will 2670mhz to 2850 mhz and not lack any thing you throw at it !!! and that 18% gain and Drivers are alot more stable then AMD, looked at the 3060 card and the 4060 is a better pick

@@user-on9hi9in3u AMD hasn't had any big driver issues since 2019, the 4060 equivalent is the RX 7600/7600 XT but if you can find them in stock the 6700 XT and 6750 XT are also great value and similair in price.
People talk so much sh!t they don't know. More vRAM doesn't mean more performance. It's about how fast it is processed + the 4060 counts with DLSS 3 which is straight up magic on performance gains. xx60 cards are not meant for 4K or 2K gaming but 1080p so there's also no reason for more than 8GB. 4060 power consumption is amazing and puts the 3060 to shame

It isn't scaling that much like how upper tire of 40 series GPU does like 4070 super compete with 3090 also it's not worth upgrading who already have 3060 12GB on their build. In my country power consumption doesn't really matter that much so it's not worth the upgrade.

V-ram isnt compute it just allows the gpu to run at its full potential in heavier v-ram intensive games.

I'd get a 4060 or 4060Ti 16GB-only in case I haven't had 3060Ti already. Now, there's simply no way I'll upgrade. For those with much older GPUs, sure, go for it. Also, the power consumption is extremely welcome feature in the 4000 series.
However, I have a feeling, the XX50 name-brand in 4000 series turned them into XX60. I mean, the 4060 is the 3050 or 3050Ti at least. Just take the memory's bit bus width. The 4060Ti became the 3060 and so on. Similarly, for all other products of the 4000 series except the 4090. This is what essentially reduced the power consumption. Whatever gains the new generations got, we'll see 'em in 5000 series where they revert back to normal TDM (Thermals/Powe Consumption). That's why I might get a 5060Ti (this card at 170Watt is going to be better than 4070 Super) in case it comes with at least 12GB GDDR7 VRAM. However, I'm afraid the new memory type alone is going to skyrocket the prices.

you should know the definition of VRAM first to understand this.
Some unoptimized games/super intensive games use more than 8GB VRAM
RTX 4060 is 15% faster than RTX 3060
but in some games that require more than 8GB of VRAM, it will stutter on some area that is intensive.
Example of games that is unoptimized properly: RE4 Remake that is in this video, even though the graphic is not that good but it uses more than 8GB of VRAM causes RTX 4060 to stutter.
but you can always disable/lower some settings to lower VRAM usage (such as depth of field/motion blur/etc)
if you have the budget RTX 4070 is the sweet spot right now or wait for 50xx series, but my RTX 4060 is good enough for me.
if you play on 1080p max or 1440p veryhigh to max RTX 3060/RTX4060 is enough
if you uses RT on every games, you should use DLSS on RTX 3060/RTX 4060 which sacrifice the sharpness of the image.
The 8GB version of 3060 is slower than 3060 12GB. They're not the same card with just VRAM difference.

But on long term (over 1 year) you go in 4060 favor, the 10C difference makes +1C extra in your room, during winter time, so you pay less for the gas bill and for the electricity (huge in favor of 4060). There is also the inflation, the raw FPS, the price, the income/member of family and so on.

Lol nope. its impossible to do a format like this on helldivers. Even if youre on the same planet the areas will be vastly different everytime you deploy. The only way you can do a side by side frame comparison on this game is on the ship or in tutorials. Which is not representative of game performance.

Going from my XFX 5700xt Ultra Thicc III and was looking for a good upgrade and the TDP it runs compare to The Asus Rog Strix 4060 OC 8gb card far as TDP and MHz is a way better with the Nvidia Auto Tuner it will 2670mhz to 2850 mhz and not lack any thing you throw at it !!! and that 18% gain and Drivers are alot more stable then AMD, looked at the 3060 card and the 4060 is a better pick

@@user-on9hi9in3u AMD hasn't had any big driver issues since 2019, the 4060 equivalent is the RX 7600/7600 XT but if you can find them in stock the 6700 XT and 6750 XT are also great value and similair in price.

People talk so much sh!t they don't know. More vRAM doesn't mean more performance. It's about how fast it is processed + the 4060 counts with DLSS 3 which is straight up magic on performance gains. xx60 cards are not meant for 4K or 2K gaming but 1080p so there's also no reason for more than 8GB.

It isn't scaling that much like how upper tire of 40 series GPU does like 4070 super compete with 3090 also it's not worth upgrading who already have 3060 12GB on their build. In my country power consumption doesn't really matter that much so it's not worth the upgrade.
