Don't worry, they'll include a Jirachi event tied to the white rock in Let's Go Seedot and Let's Go Lotad, coming in 2030.
Lets go seedot sound painful
fake
It's a joke you muppet @@Lucas_Sanjara
@King_Mari0
really you haven't heard of let's go seedot and let's go lotad slated for a 2030 release?
weird...
Let's go zigzagoon and let's go poocheyenna
Ah, the Jirachi rock that couldn’t.
On my playground, it was Deoxys. The remakes really did that rumor justice.
Another “Mew under the truck” rumor.
It does make some sense considering there was no way to predict that we would be getting Jirachi in an event exclusively with the purpose of giving jirachi away. I think it was the cutest pokemon too, so obviously everyone wanted one. xD
It's a white rock.
No
You inner geologist is failing you. Its unlike any other rock in the area. That alone tells you theirs a story there.
Wait i just got it. That's what it says when you interact with it. 😅
@@mixtapeweezy6871 you are so smart
@@justme14357 the smarticles in my particles are like... Ikkakus bankai
imablisy actually made a custom event for jirachi involving the white rock, the whole process is really interesting
Every single video, I get happy hearing your username
Finally, Justice.
Hitting 100 days only for no special occasion was such a letdown
That's okay, once your clock dies they get 9,999 successful launches... Good for them
Didn't he say 100 weeks? It's closer to 2 years actually
Wow, I Mandela Effect-ed myself hard.
When starting this video, I was thinking about how when I was a kid and first played through Sapphire, I thought that the wish tag was a real in-game item that could be obtained, because the girl standing by the white rock said it in all caps- WISH TAG- which was pretty much only done when talking about actual in-game locations, items, and trainer/pokemon names. So my theory was that you could find a wish tag and bring it to the girl or put it onto that rock, and then something would happen which would allow you to catch Jirachi.
BUT I GUESS THAT MEMORY WASN’T REAL, BECAUSE YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE HERE IN THE FOOTAGE OF TALKING TO THE GIRL THAT SHE DOESN’T SAY “WISH TAG” IN ALL CAPS 😤
I remember pressing that rock and visiting that scientist every single day, but nothing ever happened...
Same, Hours wasted Just for a slightly whiter Rock
"Oh my god, a giant rock!"
"Oh my God it's an other gaunt rock"
"It's a rock, and it's giant!"
This giant rock sadly doesn't give you access to a mythical Pokémon. 😢
Thank you so much
That's not a rock...
it's a Boulder!
i remember in elementary school people said that you could use the rock to get to catch deyoxys
It was the Mew truck in my elementary school... How time flies.
It’s because Pokémon as a series has more cut content than content. That’s all there is to it. That’s the answer to 99% of questions anyone will ever ask about assets they can’t find a purpose for.
You can almost taste the conflict between the people in charge of storyboard and the people in charge of brand exploitation. Storyboard put all these great extra events right into the game, and brand exploitation made them rip it all right back out so the extra content could be locked behind distribution events and bonus content of other games.
Yeah, I think the white rock was supposed to be like the shrine in ilex forest, but it was cut.
@@konayasai I'd be more okay with this if they released the keys for the events and not just hand out the pokemon in question.
@@ElementalArcher Nah, I think the white rock is simply meant to represent a moon rock that space stations have used for good luck, just like the wish tag was(which was an item before Jirachi was created). Its an easter egg.
I do, however, think that the space station was meant to be so much more. Almost certain Deoxys was meant to be like Mewtwo was in Gen 1 (and Jirachi like Mew), as Gen 3 was meant to be an echo of gen 1.
It's easy to have "more cut content than content" when there's no content to begin with.
It's crack. Mystery solved.
“It’s not just a rock, it’s a boulder” 🥲
the pioneers used to ride these babies for miles
@@doughboywhinenah, Strenght
It’s the other way around
That's a nice bolder
That white rock pissed me off almost as much as the doorway behind the tree in Sootopolis. almost.
I vividly remember in the infancy of UA-cam, I saw videos that "confirm" these rumors where the lady would give the player a "Wish Ticket" you'd have to put on the white rock to battle Jirachi and another event gave you a pass to ride to the moon to battle Deoxys. I thought they were real for years.
The good old days
Oh god, someone else actually remembers those?
I always thought the white rock was a meteorite that allowed you to change Deoxy's form, and that it was carried over into Gen 4.
I think the white rock could be foreshadowing to the existence of Sootopolis. If Sootopolis was this mythical legend that nobody had ever seen it would make sense that this oddly colored rock would draw people's attention
"Its just a stupid boulder..."
"It's not just a boulder... It's a rock!" 😢
If the scientists put it there for good luck, maybe it was put there for shinto reasons that the localizers didn't bother to translate back in the day. The lady beside the rock does talk about tanabata tags
Deoxys' battle theme has always stuck with me. I haven't battled it legitimately when I was a kid but I've watched videos of how the Birth Island event goes. Birth Island is the only place in all of Gen 3 that doesn't have a background music. Then, the sounds that the triangle puzzle makes amidst the silence is pretty eerie because it's something you don't hear anywhere else. And after you finish the puzzle, you get to hear Deoxys' battle theme that sounds so... alien. It's sounds so different from any other battle theme in the generation, even battles with legendaries. I think it's because of the three bell rings at the beginning of the theme. It's just so unexpected in a battle theme.
I also haven't played ORAS but I've seen videos of the final parts of the Delta Episode. I really like how they explicitly cut out all the music before showing the triangle puzzle once again with its iconic sound effect. Then, the Deoxys battle theme starts just as Deoxys reveals its tentacles. It's just so... *chef's kiss*. However, this time around, the three bell rings at the beginning of the battle theme no longer feels eerie. I think the initial eeriness of Deoxys' battle theme is due to how Birth Island feels like a liminal space. But that's not the case in ORAS. Riding a Mega Rayquaza in space is just too epic for anything to feel eerie. So this time around, Deoxys' battle theme appropriately feels like a boss battle theme.
Its likely that the gba used bitcrushed 8bit pcm samples for the music while 3ds had 16 bit audio
The Deoxys remix by PokeRemixStudio (titled "Fr/Lg Deoxys Battle Remix") will always hit different.
ORAS's soundtrack in general is so much weaker and less impactful than the original GBA music. Somehow, the tinny little GBA produced a varied and rich orchestra of sounds with interesting stereo panning effects and a surprisingly wide variety of instruments.
ORAS on the 3DS sound like you took a MIDI of the lead melody for all the music, and just fed it into some cheap orchestral soundfont.
I remember falling for many pokemon internet rumors back in the early 2000s.
I always thought it was tied to Jirachi or was a sleeping Jirachi lol
I remember in 2008 reading about the rocket launch online where 50 launches would get you Deoxys and 100 would get you Jirachi. I would log in everyday thinking it was possible because I saw someone on youtube do it. Pokemon rumors back in the mid 2000's were on another level and I'm amazed that I believed all of them XD
I think it's especially funny because 99% of them were bogus. The ones that were true weren't directly true either. You still needed to jump through hoops to get whatever was in the true ones. xD
0:32 maybe it's a wishing star but I reckon it's just a meteorite the scientists decided to use as a good luck charm
3:36 maybe instead of just being formed by a meteor strike, Sootopolis' surface somehow merged with the meteorite and that's why it's the same material as the White Rock
>Program a game
>Release it on Steam
>Exactly 10 years after launch, quietly update the game changing literally nothing else, except if you now interact with the white rock, Jirachi will appear.
>Tell no one.
>One day, Werster is speedrunning and makes a joke to his audience about the white rock
>Get it unexpectedly
>On the fly gets a world record using the broken Jirachi to cruise through the rest of the game
Tf you talking about😂
Sadly jirachi kinda sucks and would only hurt a speedrun
I miss the time when the internet is at its infancy and any playground rumor seems legit to the point that you are forced to explore it in order to test if its true.
Not all of it were false as even Mew started as a playground rumor.
Nowadays, we can look up anything on the internet.
If there is a positive thing about the past, due to the lack of readily available info, you are required to be more sociable with your fellow Pokemon fans/players.
ACE codes sound like playground rumors
@@casinokam2695 ACE codes are more akin to black magic
The next white rock lets us write on it
Designer: just puts something there
Pokemon fans: “It has to have a deeper meaning!”
Just puts something there, gives it a unique color palette, puts an NPC next to it specifically to talk about it, puts a reference to a legendary pokemon in the dialogue, & associates it to a nearby building where an NPC's dialogue changes overtime in a game where that's not normally a thing.
I honestly love learning all this stuff about games I’ve never played before. I watch tons of playthrough videos to live vicariously through them but I’m starting to realize just how much creators cut out if it isn’t relevant to the video. This and the ash route one have been among my recent favorites of yours and I really hope you keep doing these!
It's just a normal rock covered in Wingull poop
Absolutely loving the recent love that Hoenn is getting on your channel. Keep up the incredible work.
I have very few memories with my very first Sapphire playthroughs, but I do remember trying everything I could think of to make something happen with that rock as a kid.
Which meant I ran around it and kept interacting with it from the two possible positions because I was a kid and I wasn't very good at this kinda thing.
I don't think I even knew the Regis existed back then, and if I did, I don't think I ever got them. Which is weird since I had a guide and that guide probably explained how to get them. Maybe I just didn't read it thoroughly.
So basically, I wasn't great with solving puzzles.
Same happened for me, got Ruby on Christmas when it released but never really got into catching the Regis. After months or maybe even years I think I got into the underwater cave and since I've got leafgreen I had access to the actual braille decoder in the manual book. Found out what to do and unlocked them. Had so much fun catching them after missing out on them for so long, the soundtrack was also epic back then.
I remember as a kid the rumour was that at 100 rockets it would activate the rock and you needed to do something to activate it.
I love your videos talking about various things from Pokemons past present and future please don’t stop making them
Anyone who remembers the custom map someone made of the moon and seeing Jirachi is a certified gamer
Very well put, Gator. It's important to keep in mind just how much content is in Gen 3 up until Mossdeep just to start-- I'm still convinced to this day that Gamefreak intended to include a portion where you travel to space to acquire Deoxys (even through the event) but they just didn't have enough time to implement that, just like how they had to scrap a large portion of what Sootopolis and Pacifidlog were supposed to be. And even still, Gen 3 is the RPG of the entire Pokemon franchise and the best installment imo. I could play it time and time again without ever getting bored 🙂
The genesis rock of Apollo mission collected from the surface of the moon looks similar to the white rock. The genesis rock helped us to understand how moon was formed. Maybe Gamefreak added it as a reference.
It's a white rock, isn't it obvious? It's Reshiram while dormant. And it got moved to Unova's museum years later. ;P
I vividly remember the rocket launch rumor. I put it to the test back in the day, desperately hoping to catch myself a Deoxys. I was pretty disappointed when nothing special happened.
you explained it within the first 10 seconds lol
Someone in Mossdeep City Normal or Special Summoned 5 or more monsters during the Main Phase this turn.
When I was in high school I was told it was launch 999 that allowed you to go into space and you guess it I waited it out and when launch 999 arrived and I did not go to space I was HM01
As you said, the only other location in R/S/E where there were white rocks is Sootopolis, where the surroundings are the same colour, which is really odd.
In Jirachi Wishmaker, Jirachi did awaken from a crystal. I can see the white rock shattering to reveal a crystal that contains a sleeping Jirachi.
Still would've made more sense to be tied to an in-game event than some of the other, *actual* cryptic nonsense in this series, like getting Regigigas in ORAS.
I always had suspicions on that rock! Glad someone is finally building on that thoery
I still can't believe you go into space and fight what's basically an alien to save the planet in the post-game of a Pokemon game. Remember when the highlight of a post-game was fighting the previous protagonist?
Idk why this rock is so hard for people to understand. Sootopolis used to be a volcano. It erupted. White rock landed in Mossdeep. Scientists go nuts over it because it's a rock. Kyogre calms the volcano and pushes back the lava.
Lore-accurate theory. Most likely, the cause of the eruption was Groudon, hence the story of Groudon and Kyogre fighting 300 years ago. Depending on the version you're playing, one of them hangs around in Origin Cave (this is before it was called Origin Cave though), and the other goes off to do something else, thus the fighting ends temporarily.
Out of all the classic pokemon games
Gen 3 has to have the MOST amount of Playground Rumors and Urban Legends on how to find things
Mirage Island, those boxes in front of a door, the list goes on
I remember the iteration of the rumor I heard was if you beat the E4 100 times the rocket scientist would let you go to fight Deoxys.
That was a sad let down as a kid.
I fell for this as a kid. I can’t remember if anyone on the space center even mentioned the rock. I’m in the middle of a professor oak challenge in sapphire, I’ll need to double check after the next badge… when the rest of hoenn opens up via surf
This video is absolutely amazing, the white rock and space station were such a mystery to me as a kid. I swear i visited them both every single day just waiting to go to space. Funny how we all had the same silly rumours across the world.
"Oh hey we never implemented this texture in the desert routes"
"Yeah it just kinda clashed, what do we do, cut it?"
"eh, stick it somewhere, be a shame to waste the work."
The era where internet reach didn't go that far but somehow rumors able to spread everywhere corner of the world
those types of rumors were on the early internet
a giant rock is also a giant plot device
I had a wrong memory where i interact with the rock and said like u touched the white rock and a white screen flash.
Funfact, Jirachi was also available through Pokemon Channel if you fully played through that game!
i remember hearing the rocket rumor
the one i heard was something like "on the 100th launch go activate the rock with rock smash to fight deoxys"
What's funny is that rock is essentially the only reference to Jirachi in all of Gen 3
I thought the white rock was tied to Jirachi in some way but for that scientist talking about the rocket launches was tied to Deoxys and saw a video that claimed if you trained either Latias or Latios to x7 with x being at least 6 while holding a sitrus berry and talked to that scientist that talked about a specific rocket launch you could get sent into space and see Deoxys that way. If it didn't work you would raise it 10 levels to be x7 and repeated the process then it may work again. Never found anything for Jirachi outside of that rock though.
Back when I was a kid. I always had it in my head could get deoxys from the rock
As for my own "theory," after watching the movie Volcano(1997) as a kid with my grandfather I was terrified of lava for years, even into high school. So, as a kid, I had a visceral fear of Mt. Chimney erupting while I was on it or the slopes, and I found route 113 creepy from the ash fallout too. I could never shake the feeling the volcano could erupt at any moment and spew lava all over the terrain. Irrational, perhaps, but such was the effect that dumb movie had on me. I remember having nightmares about waking up in the middle of the night to my room being flooded with molten rock.
Ironically, though, I still thought Slugma was cool.
It also didn't help that the movie featuring Jirachi had it stuck inside of a rock.
The rumor on my playground was that the wish tag was an event item that would react with the rock. I had heard the others later on at summercamp.
Guys, it's Reshiram!
That’s not the white rock I go moss-deep into.
The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles!
It’s actually the legendary blue eyes white rock.
Its interesting how with deoxys a event code kinda helps complete the layers you have ocean earth sky then space.
I was convinced that stupid rock would allow you to change the form of your Deoxys...and I have no why I thought that.
This rock actually made me insane when I found it at first.
I love this video, it's so very indepth on another piece of pokemon game lore and I think that's cool ❤
I have a feeling it was a scrapped feature/event for Jirachi/Deoxys, just like I think that the Mossdeep city house with the door blocked by boxes was a scrapped feature they just did away with toward the end of development (probably due to cartridge space and special events that were planned afterwards).
If you’re talking about the house I’m thinking of, there is an event in the game for it. You need a special card reader, a second GBA (and link cable) and a special kind of card with a weird barcode..thing. It unlocks special battles that take place in that room. I could e thinking of the wrong house though. It’s been a while
@@qazxsw21000 Nah you're right, it's the E-Reader house
I was a kid that thought the Jirachi thing was real. I was so sad.
I think it being a rock also fueled the rumors since the movie has Jirachi having a crystal form. If it had been a weird tree for instance it might not have taken off as well. Who knows though.
I think it's also related to why the truck rumors from Gen 1 happened. It's super rare for something unique to not have a significant purpose. We don't see the truck anywhere else so surely it must be significant, right? Same with the stone. I'm not sure Sootopolis even has that exact rock. And similar to Gen 1 where lots of strange seemingly esoteric stuff DOES work (Namely because of glitches) Gen 3 has stuff like the Regis sidequest which honestly sound like someone's trying to fool you like with the Wailord and Relicanth puzzle.
IT'S A WHITE ROCK!
I mean itś supposed to be foreshadowing about soothopolis existing, a remnant of the acient eruptions that has formed the city's crater
My cousins told me if I had reayquaza , kyogre, groudon, and the three Regis , and talked to the white rock it would start the deoxys battle. I then proceeded to flood that information to every kid with a gameboy at school. I was apart of the problem 😅.
Your video are actually making me appreciate Hoenn more than i actually did.
bruh the rocket to deoxys playground theory kept me awake at night as a kid lol
A friend from school told me about it, so I told another friend. She tried it, and, surprise surprise, nothing happened. I thought that I had gotten something wrong.
«it’s a white rock”
You think *_that's_* weird, one of my friends, back when gen 3 came out, said that if you dive in the right spot you can find a cave that'll be full of dots that are secretly words!! Not only that, he thought I'd believe that if you put the correct pokemon in your party and used dig inside the cave you could open up three other caves and it _wouldn't_ send you out of the first cave! He also said that if you used fly *_INSIDE_* one of these smaller caves you'd find a secret pokemon!! Fly doesn't even work inside!
How gullible did he think I was?!?!
It’s not just a boulder. It’s a ROCK.
Anyway grew up in hoenn my friend. Please continue to explain and explore my home land
I was affected by the time glitch, AKA the Berry Glitch, and was unable to confirm this theory at the time. I was so sad.
I believed it when i was kid, i used library computers to look up how to do it 😂
God I spent countless hours trying to get the launch number up to a 100 and then a 1000 hoping to get to space. I had even found a fake video on youtube supposedly showing the event triggering. Also there was another part in the Jirachi rumors. Some people claimed that when you completeted the Pokedex, the dude in the pokemon fun club in Lilycove that asks you about it, would give you a wishing tag, and you could use that to summon Jirachi from the rock. I even remember having a dream once of being Brendan and unlocking it.
It's just a white rock at the end of day
The way to get Jirachi was different in Europe, in NA you needed Colosseum, in EU however you needed Pokemon Channel and to basically complete the game to unlock it. I was trying to complete my Pokedex in Ruby and already had Colosseum but no Jirachi available. Had to dig around online and get a copy of Pokemon Channel just to get it. Ended up getting every Pokemon but Milotic (I was too dumb to figure out how to evolve Feebas back then and there weren't any good guides on how to make good Pokeblocks) and Deoxys, who yeah, I believed a variant of the space station rumour but didn't really pursue it.
I always thought the white rock was from the moon
I remember a friend of mine joked about the white rock being a rock of salt lol
2004? 20 years ago. Feels like yesterday
So many missed opportunities.. Welp, leaves more for the modders.
Honestly I have been thinking about this a lot. But I think it's much funnier and cooler if it doesn't do anything. It's a white rock. If you think it's any more significant than that, you have become the punchline of a very simple joke. How often can a game make its player the punchline? This is excellent.
3:42 nah bro I never thought about that rock Foreshadowing sootopolis. actually wild
Back in the days where childhood was still magical and enchanted, instead of everything existing solely in the context of social media and the first page of google
children will never know the joys of the early 2000s internet
good times, now everything is all so flat. takes some digging to find things actually made with love
I literally waited for the 100th lauch as a kid. Boy, did I feel dumb
The white rock in Emerald is basically the Delta Episode from ORAS that never happened in that 3rd gen
I actually still have the Colosseum Bonus Disc Actually, and in pretty good condition too might I add. Also, i didn't even know about that rumor at the time, and I'm the guy who started playing Pokemon in Gen 3 for crying out loud. XD
I see now... the reason I never got to ride the rocket MUST be because my battery ran dry. Yes, that must be it.
