  • How to measure voltage using Venlab VM-200M multimeter. How to use a digital multimeter.A multimeter is an essential tool for anyone working with electronics, electrical circuits, or any application where voltage measurements are required. One of the main functions of a multimeter is to measure voltage. Multimeters come in several types, including digital and analog, and they usually offer different range settings for voltage measurements. In this video we will focus on using a multimeter with manual range setting to measure voltage accurately.
Manual Range Setting and Automatic Range Multimeter
There are two basic types of multimeters: manual range setting and automatic range. With a multimeter with manual range setting, you have to manually select the appropriate range for your measurement. In contrast, an auto-range multimeter automatically selects the range for you. Both types have advantages and disadvantages, but a manual range multimeter gives you more control over your measurements.
To measure voltage using a multimeter with manual range setting, follow these steps:
Set Multimeter to Voltage Mode: Turn the multimeter's rotary selector switch to voltage mode. This mode is usually represented by the letter "V" and may have a solid line (DC voltage) or a wavy line (AC voltage) next to it, depending on whether you want to measure direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC). ) Income. Make sure you choose the correct mode for your measurement.
Choose Voltage Range: With a manual range setting multimeter, you usually have multiple voltage range options (e.g. 200mV, 2V, 20V, 200V, 600V for DC voltage). Start with the highest range setting available and then work your way down to a lower range if necessary. Follow the same process for AC voltage.
Connect Test Leads: Plug the black test lead into the common (COM) port on your multimeter and the red test lead into the voltage (VΩ) port.
Connect Test Leads to Circuit: To measure voltage on a component, connect the black test lead to the common or ground point of the circuit. Connect the red test lead to the point in the circuit where you want to measure voltage.
Read the Display: Turn on the circuit or equipment if necessary. The multimeter's display will show the voltage measurement in the selected range. If the displayed value is too high for the range you selected, the multimeter will display an "Overload" or "OL" message. In this case, switch to a higher range setting.
