Actually it’s pronounced both ways in the United States.
More importantly Arkansas is a place one should be very proud to be have come from. 100% powerful citizens with open minds who strive for equality, and to better themselves. A very poor population of the Ozarks, the Ozark Mtns, that is, and a Southern State. Bill Clinton grew up in a one-room house there in the woods and became President of the United States of America, leader of the free world. First ever to be impeached, but each day after he became more and more popular. And his wife, less we forget, won the Presidential election by 3 million votes 20 yrs later.

Viewer from the States here. Just an FYI. Jodie, the state you mentioned on the license plate at 10:36 is pronounced (weirdly) Ark-an-saw. I know it looks like Ark-Kansas, and we do also have a state called Kansas (which makes it seem like it ought to sound the same), but this one sounds different to that.
The reason for it is this: Arkansas was named for the French plural of a Native American tribe, while Kansas is the English spelling of a similar one. Since the letter "s" at the end of French words is usually silent, we pronounce the name of the state of Arkansas as "Arkansaw."
Place names are so strange! I live not far from a Norfolk and a Portsmouth (we borrowed those from you across the pond) in Virginia and we still say those the same way that people in the UK do. It confuses people who aren't familiar. I'm sure there are a lot of place names in the UK that I couldn't pronounce if my life depended on it!😂
