I love the fact that each dbz game on the ps2 has their own unique feature, meaning that neither of them are obsolete and you have to own each of them for differents reasons (something so rare for long franchise) :
    - Budokai 1 : the story mode with amazing cut-scenes just like the anime
    - Budokai 2 : the board game with differents inroads and unique characters (fusions and buu's absorptions)
    - Budokai 3 : a different story mode for each character (for example since android 19 isn't in this game, when you play as goku and you reach the android saga, you only have to beat Cell since canonically he never fights the androids and was sick for all the saga. Another hint that the original plan was to goku to retire and let his kids (gohan & goten) to be the next main heroes, but that's another topic ;)
    - Super Dragon ball z : For its street fighter fight style and arcade style
    - Budokai Tenkaichi 1 : Is unfortunetly the only skippable of all of them, the story mode isn't very interesting and it only introduced the tenkaichi (free-camera) gameplay
    - Budokai Tenkaichi 2 : Introduced RPG-elements and probably has the most complete and longest story mode of all ps2 dbz games, almost a hundreds fights, they're all there (dbz, the oav, GT). And you can travel on the map just like Budokai 3
    - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 : The characters are talking during the fights (something that never happened) and introduced a script system : For exemple, at your 1st fight with Raditz, it's almost impossible to win with goku and piccolo, you just have to wait to push R3 to make the strory continue. Same with Nappa, you fights as tien, chiaotzu, gohan and piccolo and you lose all of them just like the anime. It's a great immersion for dragon ball fans ;)
    - Infinite world : Introduced mini-games just like the only one in Budokai 1 and just like Budokai 1, you have to beat the story mode one time with only the fights of goku and gohan and then you unlocks the second part of the story mode with all the others characters. The map is also very similar to the board game of Budokai 2
    - DBZ sagas : has cut-scenes straight from the anime with unique objectives
Sorry for the long comment and for my bad english ;)

The Wii version is the absolute best version of Tenakichi 2 and 3. The motion controls aren’t overbearing and when they *are* utilized, they make such a huge difference in the immersion

Man, I love Turles, the ORIGINAL Goku black. I like how his' tree of might is also a reverse Genki-dama.
Also the cell games is a survival mode so you don't fully heal/get treated like in normal world tournament.

BT2 is probably the game I poured the most time into with my PS2, there's just so much to do and I never found myself bored? It improves on pretty much everything from the first game, which I found myself somewhat disappointed with as a kid. Any critique I'd have is dwarfed by everything else it does right. While other games may do certain things better, I'd say that this is the entry that has a little something for everyone.

Let me just go ahead and get this outta the way before any more misinfo pops up:
Tenkaichi 2 IS the best game out of the series. What I mean by this is, the tech in T2 is LEAGUES above the others and honestly, ANY 3d fighter period. Tenkaichi 3 ended up adding more characters, a few combo extensions (for worst honestly) and streamlining the mechanics and if you play both back to back (and you actually know what you’re doing) you’ll realize all that you’re missing..
Most will tell you Tenkaichi 2 only had a better story mode (or soundtrack), Lol but I’m sorry, I can’t let this idea keep being spread. These are 2 different games. T2 will sadly forever be overshadowed by the last installment
*Amazing analysis overall though my guy! Love the respect you give these games!

@@Meelow-jp8lb I mean yeah people will have their preferences on what which game has. But you can decipher and scale which one executes “better” than the other. MK11 vs MK1 for example. There’s a lot of preference in the whole “T2 vs T3” debate, but people never factor in the things that make T2 ACTUALLY shine that T3 DOESNT have… Which was my original point (although T2 Elitist as Hell Lol)

They sorta made him compelling to me with his obsession and plotting ending in tragedy. it made me think what could have followed after Goku was wished back to Earth. If Goku would have wished him back as a way of thanks & how everything would have changed..

Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters
    - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down)
    - Fusions mid-battle
    - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel
    - Tons of extra content
    - Story mode covering all sagas + movies
    - What If sagas
    - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot)
    - Great tournaments that rotate availability
    - Edit characters with items (buffs)
    - 5v5 battles
    - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks
    - Destroyable environments
    - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives
    - Mission 100 being a great challenge
    - Artwork is 10/10
    - Sound effects are great
    - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 and all of PSP DBZ games except of Dragon Ball Z Evolution are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective. ✌️

What would make it even better would be the ability to pick however many of your favorite stages to randomly bounce around between and maybe playing as a diff character every match like the Yamcha tournament in bt 3 does if I'm not mistaken

BT3´s Dragon...whatever is so hugely downscaled and unambitious its borderline hilarious.

Yes they might if all you're doing is mashing square, sometimes pressing triangle and throwing in the occasional super/ultimate move. Yes they'll be the same because your doing the same thing over and over again.

For years people have been telling me bt2 is better than BT3 but it’s really not due to roster limitations . A lot of those fights are repetitive and the same battles . BT3 makes better use of its new characters while also having multiple stages in one chapter as well as background dialogue and changing endings . BT3 might cover less but does wayyyy more with what it has than bt2 . I mean why would you want to play future trunks saga with buu saga gohan ?there are many examples of this in bt2. Ssj4 goku being used for every single gt fight is another example

By the way, this is actually my favorite dbz game on the ps2. It's the most complete and I think it's the one with the best gameplay (with the rpg/tactics damages elements ... The fact that you have to guard up or down on how about your opponent will attack, etc ...).
But It just feels a little weird to say the game is too long but maybe it's because you weren't ready for it, you didn't except this ;)
For me, it was like saying that a GTA was too long (I mean, it's meant to be ^^). But also, we live in a time when video-games are shorter than usual just to make "easy-money" :(

With the chance now here, I want to hear your thoughts on this: Every Fusion except Kefla, Z Gotenks, Super Gogeta and Gogeta Blue is carried by the games. (Aka, Super Vegito, SSJ4 Gogeta, and Vegito Blue). Reasons: 1. Super Vegito did about two attacks, the Candy beat down on Buu, and Spirit Sword. Spirit Sword has very lame animation, and isn't as epic as it's portrayed in the games. And besides that, all Vegito did (That was memorable) was talk. 2. Ssj4 Gogeta, we all know, no need to explain. 3. First of all, Vegito Blue was never even meant to be in the Future arc. And the only memorable thing he did was the Final kamehameha which was about 9 seconds. Him punching Zamasu was popularized by Fighterz, proving my point. All he did was some basic punches, generic comboes, a spirit sword that lasted about 30 seconds, and yeah, that's it. The clash he did with Zamasu is epic, but it doesn't redeem the lameness of Vegito. Moving on to the characters NOT carried by the games: 1. Gotenks. He has a creative moveset, his most memorable move being Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack. And (At least to me), his appearance against Buu in the hyperbolic time chamber had some of the, if not the best humor in Dragon Ball. 2. Kefla fought Ui Goku in one of the most iconic Dragon Ball Fights. 3. Super Gogeta has amazing animation, and that single combo he did on Janemba is milked like crazy. He's not exaggerated, he's just as he is in the movie he originates from. 4. Gogeta Blue is arguably the only Fusion that LOOKS powerful. Lore wise, every fusion is stupid strong, but Gogeta Blue is portrayed that way much better than any other fusion. These are just my opinions, but the only reason I put them here is to hear anyone elses opinion on them.

The World's Strongest is a top 5 Z movie. I'll die on that hill. Tree of Might is Ass City. Bio Broly is the only Z movie I haven't seen more than twice, so take that as you will. You're spot on on your GT take. Omega Shenron and the concept of the Shadow Dragons *IS* the perfect antagonist to close a perfect series. Alas, the garbage story that is "Super" had to happen. In my mind, GT is much more canon than S (which isnt at all due to shitting all over Zs established rules/lore).

It might be because I watched it as a kid, but I kinda like Tree of Might a lot. Yeah, Goku gets his ass kicked pretty much the whole time, but the movie is pretty cool as an allegory to steroids and the wild west shoot out ending between the spirit bomb and Turles's attack

@amuroray88 there's no signature (super cool badass) moment that I can recall in Tree of Might that alone justifies watching it. Most movies have more than one i.e. Goku going SSJ in Coolers Revenge + the dope lines in that movie ("Deep fried Namek! How yummy!" "Eat this."), or in the World's Strongests case, Roshi being singled out as the world's strongest is a fun believable setup for an early movie and gave Roshi some time in the spotlight. Then you have Piccolo vs Goku, which is always good, AND a Turtle School Kamehameha. Yes, please. It's always better when more Z fighters get a chance to be impactful, and I debate the impact any but Goku/Gohan had in Tree of Might, which would be fine if they had bad ass moments but they really don't. Gohan ends up naked, that's pretty eveventful, I suppose. In all seriousness, it was more a story of Gohan inadvertently saving the day, which had already been done a couple times in Z and in Dead Zone and isn't particularly interesting to me when that's the only real thing of note that happens.

@@MrAweeze again, I love the Spirit bomb showdown in tree of might. Turles dominated Goku more than any other movie villain. Even more than Broly in the sense that Goku at least got shots in against Broly before he went legendary and once he absorbed everyone's power. I don't think Goku got any hits in even before Turles ate the fruit, and got rocked afterwards. So it made it ironic that the very thing that made Turles invincible killed him in the end.

@amuroray88 hey I'm glad someone likes it. To be fair though, since you brought it up, even though goku "got shots in" vs broly, it was virtually the same as literally doing nothing at all.

I could never get into the tenkaichi series for one silly reason.
The way characters weirdly attacked by flailing their arms around with their arms locked at fixed right angles, along with the pillow hands sound effects when they hit each other. Plus how a lot of the times the opponent didn’t flinch when hit.
Just felt like a cheap fan game to me compared to the Budokai series. I feel like I missed out, but looking forward to Zero which looks like the best DBZ game yet 👌

Are you seriously counting one of my FAVORITE aspects of the game as a negative?? Really??
The voiced menus are awesome. You're SO wrong about harping on this. Also, you're whining and going on and on about this as if you can't just skip it. Which you easily can. With a single button press. What's even the point you're making when it takes you only a half second to skip through it with a button press? Had to flat-out dislike the video for that one, chief. You don't know what you're talking about here, and you're just so so wrong about that.

Yeah, I'm not watching anymore of this. You're just not very objective or intelligent with your whiny critiques here.
Disliked and leaving. Hoping someone better than you covers this game right.

I 100% agree he’s using personal prerogatives to discredit the game he lost me when he said 2 isn’t much better as 1. The problem with this is he could stir away new players. He’s complaining about a lot

I never played Tenkaichi 2, only the first and a TON of the third game. People went on and on about how much better the story mode was in Tenkaichi 2, so last year i finally played it, just to find out the game mode was way overblown. Maybe as a child the novelty of flying around would be fun, but in truth, when i played the game I realized that the game could have been accessible through menus alone and you would miss nothing, which is why they moved back to menus for Tenkaichi 3. The game is just a worse tenkaichi 3 in all ways. 🤷‍♂️ Anyone who says otherwise is just being contrarian.

The story is easily better and the flying has nothing to do with it tenkaichi is more in depth and has way more what ifs you can say it overrated but tenakichi 3 story is horrible so compared to that it is amazing

I'm the only ONE who doesn't like the Dragon Ball Adventure/world, it's boring and pointless.
