  • The Soldiers' Hill Angus Farm (SHAF) hay feeder and storage program is a four-video series spotlighting the concrete hay feeding pad installed at SHAF in 2020. The program’s narrators, extension agent Tim Mize and cattle producer Dennis Pearson explain the reasons and purpose of the feeding pad. They also review three hay storage methods and introduce a small, fence feeder.

Great set up. Looking to do the same with the feed area covered with a roof. Where did you buy your panels from and what are the demensions?

Hi Jim - Dennis shared the following: I love it! Our cattle are healthier and our pastures are healthier. There is less wear and tear on our equipment, and as a result, less stress, wear, and tear on me! I am healthier! There are a few changes I would make: 1) The manure storage needs to be a few more square feet, so I plan to increase that by 25. 2) The 6" curb that retains the manure could be 8". But I scrap it every two weeks so it is fine. 8" would give you an additional week between scrapings but that is being lazy. Overall it is a great addition to our operation. I should have put it in 20 years ago…
