It's just a bad game design. Not sure why modes like abyss and imaginary theater are so heavily dependent on you having multiple different teams and units built up considering that the summoning rates are garbage, and the pity system is extremely suboptimal for f2p players. Unless you are a heavy grinder, long time player, or a whale, then you likely won't have this plethora of readily good characters to use. If this were dokkan or a game that had fairly decent rates and tons of summonable characters then average players could be expected to have a sizeable roster and this would make sense, but in a game like this where most people are bound to have a small roster, it makes zero sense. I'm not surprised though; this game has always been extremely catered to whales and spenders at the expense of casual players.

Y’know how hard it is to level 11 minimum unique characters that aren’t trial characters and match the elements to level 70 and slap on +16 golden artifacts with horrible substats. I mean the timer is only there for flexing, I just need to clear the stage and save my stronger characters for the boss stages but it’s so hard because it’s randomized and it’s not like I get every character by the final boss anyway. Some people don’t even have enough characters, it’s not like there’s bundles of primogems that are in the open world to attempt to get them. I hate that I can’t even try to get a maximum of 3.5 wishes every month and cosmetics

We don't want any thing easy just because "new" F2P are trying to beat "end"game stuff and somehow find endgame stuff to be hard inspite of being very new or mid game player. Over world is very easy and only abyss is what challenging in this game. Making it easy is like making it boring for late game players. What is even the benefit of building character then? If you are playing team gacha then you need to do grinding. All gacha games needs grinding. Abyss and imginarum theatre are endgame stuff so thinking it is suboptimal for F2p unless you are long time player is very out of logic when endgame literally means game modes for long time player who are at end of this game mechanics. Spare abyss from this nonsense when 90% of game is easy af. You already have enough way of earning primogems if you are mid game player while us late game player doesn't have much. So missing the abyss rewards is not a big loss. It is just extra reward for us who stick to game longer.
Being able to talk to the characters between Acts was an unexpected surprise, it makes me want to try different characters just to see what they have to say
My boyfriend always does abyss floor 12 for me cause i can't be bothered, now I can return the favour by doing act 8 of the imaginarium theater for him :D
As f2p i didn't had half of the opening chars so as strategy i used them early stages to made their vigor gone because of the lvl difference made it painfull, wanderer didn't pull any mob.But i made it to act 8 with 8 star with great strategy and a little rng luck. I think player skill is important to this mode and using your chars against battle stages, like i saw a lot of player with no archer against a skywatch ruin drake.And in my friend list there is almost 2-3 who completed it to 8 star.

The Special guest are just helpers Baizou, alhaizem, siegewiene and Wriothesley. So its give you the other reaction types like aggrivate, hyperbloom, bloom, Burgeon, burning, vape and melt. Its not necesarry to have them but its helpfull as strategy but with good builded chars and enough playerskill its doable. 12 Char need for the hard mode and 1 can be asked from friends 1 char/run/friend, As day one f2p player i have lot of chars and builded too.
Yeah.... it really sucks if you have to use the trial characters. I had to use the trial versions of Father, Wanderer, Thoma, and Faruzan because I don't own them or have them built. I just don't have the need, desire, or necessary resources to build Thoma and Faruzan. Plus, I don't like how dependent they are on their late constellations. Still found it an interesting game mode.
I'm having so much fun with this new combat mode. Investing in many different characters finally paid off. What can I say...I just love building and playing different characters. Never stressed about artefacts and only have decent ones, but it's enough. Also, love the Hexenzirkel-theme and the combat arenas are so gorgeous. And that they let us talk to our characters in between fights is an awesome addition.

The special guests one drives me crazy like I wasn't able to pull for Alhaitham in time at 70 pity and Furina came where I lost my 50/50. Genshin is just so cruel, and I can't just build all my characters (Despite that in my main team, I use hydro most of the time...)
A dissapointment game mode that's literally spiral abyss 2.0 with extra step, extra unnecessary annoying rules, and cute mascot BS. 620 primos, with current 800 from spiral=1420, just a 220 bump from 2 cycle spiral abyss's 1200 primos. Stingy, and dissapointing. If only they make the labyrinth warrior from 2.2 update a permanent game mode instead, it would've been so much better than this utter garbage.

AR60 f2p and didnt have enough characters to do hard mode, pain. I also don't like how the Imaginarium Theatre buffs characters outside the Theatre, feels like a way to make new characters feel stronger than they are to encourage pulls, and could mess up showcases/guides.
Maybe that's why the Theater started after Clorinde banner ended and Sigewinne isn't an option to use. None of the current banners characters are bufffed (at least this rotation).
Oh man I want that equip config at Abyss too. Its so annoying running abyss but one of them missing artifacts/ wrong weapon. Also you can talk to your companion after every fight, the companion you can talk to is the one that you used for previous fight. Not sure if its new dialogue or same as teapot.
first tried maxed it just cause I build every character possible. out of 62 characters I got 49 characters friendship 10, and all characters that are on lvl 10 friendship = have been built.

I like the Imaginarium theatre but I do have encountered a roadblock when trying to play Hard mode. I'm softlocked due to having insufficient characters to pick from and am not allowed to play. I think this is the only major downside i know of this game mode, its fun though but it'll take me some time get new characters.
You need to kill them in close time proximity with each other (similar to samurai duo). Try to distribute your damage somewhat evenly between them to make this easier.
Played for 2 years, 24 well-built characters and I'm not allowed to play the hardest because only 12 were qualified in my whole roster? Nah, I'm dry with primos already and they removed half of my monthly Spiral Abyss rewards for this shit show.
I don’t know what’s wrong with mine. I filled the slot for party setup with only anemo, pyro and electro characters, but on the difficulty setting it says “9 selectable characters, not enough to start challenge” and “view available characters” on x. So I guess I need more higher level characters…?

Just my opinion, I understand everyone has a different opinion and don’t let me discourage you from playing the game. I personally feel like it’s just spiral abyss all over again but with restrictions and small buffs (nothing compared to simulated universe). I completed it in a less than 30 mins but aye, at least genshin is listening now and they will probably add more stuff later down the road. Hope has been restored.
I think the game mode is not that great, the way most of the time you end with no synergy teams, the fact that boons don't impact the gameplay since they give you almost no dmg and do no gimmicks, the fact that enemies are as weak as floor 10 of the abyss so you barely have to do anything to beat one run, the difficulty is actually having leveled 15 characters for it. It feels more like a gimmick event than a permanent mode it feels really scuffed in the way they implement it. They put a ton of effort into the environment, into the room you are when doing the mode and the dialogue with the characters there is nice but it feels the game mode itself is an afterthought.
this is the reason why abyss is a DPS check nowadays, can we get ONE game mode were sweaty try hards don't try to ruin it. it's not for DMG it's to use several characters that's the point , mix and match make silly comps having some fun do you have any concept of that? probably not 😭
i only added about 5 characters and had 3 teams planned in my head with just those + the first ones they force you to use because i thought those three bosses it shows at the start were all we had to fight and was really confused on why i needed 18 characters but i just pressed the button that randomly adds them and started, imagine how i felt when i saw all the fights i had to do with all the shit random characters i added lol

You get the satisfaction of getting 8 stars! 😉 The amount of stars are shown in your signature to let everybody know how far you got in IT (just like your Abyss floor is shown). You don't get any extra rewards as far as I know.
it’s just dumb and disappointing, imagine rerolling for gruper in monolith defence, it’s not even hard it’s annoying, the teams you end up with are not even real teams and yes if you don’t have enought characters your cooked ( wtf is up with must have all 4 characters) imagine if hydro was there there is like only 3 4 stars characters in that element Barbara xingqiu Candice , and most people have only xingqiu build and rest are 5 stars you not ony need decent build characters but a lot of build characters and even if I don’t have problem with that people who are not playing since beginning are cooked again , and any f2p with not so much 5 stars. In my opinion this can’t be called endgame, even abyss is less luck and more skill dependent, and that is saying something. Plus what the fu*k is with elemental rasizm like this game is about reactions what’s the point of excluding half the reactions every month. Plus the audience of this bs of a endgame content just got halfed from people who can even 36 star abyss. Some people enjoy minmaxing that’s their main way of enjoying the game it was enought so far but now if they want to clear all endgame they can’t anymore and that’s why it sucks. Plus players build mostly for meta or characters they like and for this sh*t you need to pull even more and for characters you might not even like or that are not even that good like tf is that , that’s not even endgame that’s just a greasy greedy money grab with lowering abyss reset.

I almost hard locked myself on the very last hard level ngl... Tried to swirl Gaming fire with Kazoo into Baizhu thrn the trial Chloride, but apart from the one attempt that had me literally.5 seconds away from victory (HOW,,,,) I finally realized I had my dendro supp Raiden so I could replace Gaming and do it without any special buffs but man was it a struggle till that The fact that I was on my phone and tried to do it in one sitting didn't help but hhh
I am finally thinking of coming back to the game after this addition. Some much needed end-game content that gives some reason to level and gear your characters.
i played the event this game mode was base on but the game mode is worse then the event. they some how made it less fun then abyss. this game mode would be better if we could use all units from the start. i don't mind the energy system but this game mode needs heavy work
I chose the easy mod when it first arrived, now it says “ You have 11 available characters, to continue to the normal mod/ hard mod you’ll have to choose 14/18 characters.” when i try to go to the next mod and idk what does it mean. I mean where do i choose MORE characters and what did it meant by “choose more” like i searched everywhere but there is no info can someone help me i think im really dumb😭🙏
It means that to play hard mode, it will require you to select 18 characters under the pyro/electro/anemo restriction, so if you have less the game is warning you that you don't have enough units

During the theater, I thought my sucrose was on 4pc vv so I used her as buffer, but after completing the stages, I realised she didnt even have a single arifact on XD

I literally just gave it a go and almost couldn't finish Hard mode because I used my characters improperly. Thankfully, it was my first run and I still finished it with all stars, but I didn't get every single mission with the extra flowers. It was kinda silly that you get flowers for the last fight.

its a start... i finished it in less than an hour and it takes a full 30 days to refresh... it absolutely requires replayability with a few minor, yet useful rewards... but i like this mode better than abyss

they ve already added access to character details in abyss last patch, check the icons on top in character selection menu in abyss

Bruh only if u have ton of characters (old player). I only have like 3 dedicated teams built till now as there was no need for more,and now i cant even choose all of them at once due to elemental restriction lol

I like the Imaginarium theatre but I do have encountered a roadblock when trying to play Hard mode. I'm softlocked due to having insufficient characters to pick from and am not allowed to play. I think this is the only major downside i know of this game mode, its fun though but it'll take me some time get new characters.
Resonate your Traveler to anemo, can get one extra char that way.

You need to kill them in close time proximity with each other (similar to samurai duo).
Try to distribute your damage somewhat evenly between them to make this easier.
I used arle and paid attention to their hp bar to divide the dmg between them equally
Played for 2 years, 24 well-built characters and I'm not allowed to play the hardest because only 12 were qualified in my whole roster? Nah, I'm dry with primos already and they removed half of my monthly Spiral Abyss rewards for this shit show.

How I can't even go to normal mode
I don’t know what’s wrong with mine. I filled the slot for party setup with only anemo, pyro and electro characters, but on the difficulty setting it says “9 selectable characters, not enough to start challenge” and “view available characters” on x. So I guess I need more higher level characters…?
this game mode is good on paper but they messed it up so bad, being force to build characters that you dont like to complete it is just non-sense, and dont come to me with the "just use trial characters then" bucause you and i know that those characters are trash.

Just my opinion, I understand everyone has a different opinion and don’t let me discourage you from playing the game. I personally feel like it’s just spiral abyss all over again but with restrictions and small buffs (nothing compared to simulated universe). I completed it in a less than 30 mins but aye, at least genshin is listening now and they will probably add more stuff later down the road. Hope has been restored.

I think the game mode is not that great, the way most of the time you end with no synergy teams, the fact that boons don't impact the gameplay since they give you almost no dmg and do no gimmicks, the fact that enemies are as weak as floor 10 of the abyss so you barely have to do anything to beat one run, the difficulty is actually having leveled 15 characters for it. It feels more like a gimmick event than a permanent mode it feels really scuffed in the way they implement it. They put a ton of effort into the environment, into the room you are when doing the mode and the dialogue with the characters there is nice but it feels the game mode itself is an afterthought.
this is the reason why abyss is a DPS check nowadays, can we get ONE game mode were sweaty try hards don't try to ruin it. it's not for DMG it's to use several characters that's the point , mix and match make silly comps having some fun do you have any concept of that? probably not 😭

i only added about 5 characters and had 3 teams planned in my head with just those + the first ones they force you to use because i thought those three bosses it shows at the start were all we had to fight and was really confused on why i needed 18 characters but i just pressed the button that randomly adds them and started, imagine how i felt when i saw all the fights i had to do with all the shit random characters i added lol

You get the satisfaction of getting 8 stars! 😉 The amount of stars are shown in your signature to let everybody know how far you got in IT (just like your Abyss floor is shown). You don't get any extra rewards as far as I know.
You use those stars to flex only 😌
it’s just dumb and disappointing, imagine rerolling for gruper in monolith defence, it’s not even hard it’s annoying, the teams you end up with are not even real teams and yes if you don’t have enought characters your cooked ( wtf is up with must have all 4 characters) imagine if hydro was there there is like only 3 4 stars characters in that element Barbara xingqiu Candice , and most people have only xingqiu build and rest are 5 stars you not ony need decent build characters but a lot of build characters and even if I don’t have problem with that people who are not playing since beginning are cooked again , and any f2p with not so much 5 stars. In my opinion this can’t be called endgame, even abyss is less luck and more skill dependent, and that is saying something. Plus what the fu*k is with elemental rasizm like this game is about reactions what’s the point of excluding half the reactions every month. Plus the audience of this bs of a endgame content just got halfed from people who can even 36 star abyss. Some people enjoy minmaxing that’s their main way of enjoying the game it was enought so far but now if they want to clear all endgame they can’t anymore and that’s why it sucks. Plus players build mostly for meta or characters they like and for this sh*t you need to pull even more and for characters you might not even like or that are not even that good like tf is that , that’s not even endgame that’s just a greasy greedy money grab with lowering abyss reset.

I almost hard locked myself on the very last hard level ngl... Tried to swirl Gaming fire with Kazoo into Baizhu thrn the trial Chloride, but apart from the one attempt that had me literally.5 seconds away from victory (HOW,,,,) I finally realized I had my dendro supp Raiden so I could replace Gaming and do it without any special buffs but man was it a struggle till that
The fact that I was on my phone and tried to do it in one sitting didn't help but hhh

I am finally thinking of coming back to the game after this addition. Some much needed end-game content that gives some reason to level and gear your characters.
i played the event this game mode was base on but the game mode is worse then the event. they some how made it less fun then abyss.

I chose the easy mod when it first arrived, now it says “ You have 11 available characters, to continue to the normal mod/ hard mod you’ll have to choose 14/18 characters.” when i try to go to the next mod and idk what does it mean. I mean where do i choose MORE characters and what did it meant by “choose more” like i searched everywhere but there is no info can someone help me i think im really dumb😭🙏
It means that to play hard mode, it will require you to select 18 characters under the pyro/electro/anemo restriction, so if you have less the game is warning you that you don't have enough units

During the theater, I thought my sucrose was on 4pc vv so I used her as buffer, but after completing the stages, I realised she didnt even have a single arifact on XD

I literally just gave it a go and almost couldn't finish Hard mode because I used my characters improperly. Thankfully, it was my first run and I still finished it with all stars, but I didn't get every single mission with the extra flowers. It was kinda silly that you get flowers for the last fight.

its a start... i finished it in less than an hour and it takes a full 30 days to refresh... it absolutely requires replayability with a few minor, yet useful rewards... but i like this mode better than abyss
