Morality is no more these days. Such web shows & similar kind of movies are just deteriorating the mentality of Indian youth. Well, india is soon going to have large cases of unstable relationships. Thanks to such web shows.
For a show about "feminism" and "sexism", the characters seem pretty stereotypical. The muscular one with tattoos is a lesbian, the fat one is funny, the one with short hair and darker make-up likes to hookup with men, and the divorcee only feels confident after getting together with another man. And I came up with all this information just from watching this review. Haven't even watched series.
Also, there are some loopholes otherwise too.Its like they did want to focus on a lot of issues like mansplaining, misogyny, fat shaming but on the other note, they are hypocritical in some ways. Also, you respect your friendship so much that you would never share the details of a conversation of your friend to your husband or boyfriend but you will tell every damn thing about your boyfriend to your friends..That isn't really fair. The only character which seemed strong here was of sayani gupta or Damini. She stands firm for her beliefs and manage everything on her own basically.Otherwise, the rest of them is just so confused in what they want.Bani's character also have a little substance in it but she needs to work on her acting skills. Her character had depth too.

"Feminism is not all about drinking all the time and having sex with anyone you want" Wow I did not expect such a deep discussion, but anyway thanks for all the likes guys. One thing after reading the comments I want to clarify is FEMINISM=EQUALITY. It does not mean that we want a position above all the men or we are men haters, but we already have the capabilities and only need a equal chance to compete with you. A lot of you people are privileged and have never experienced gender discrimination but believe me still in 2020 there are girls who are still fighting for a chance to be born. Similarly there are men that undergo criticism as a gender and have to bears a lot of pro women laws. Both issues are profound but giving one a greater importance that other is buying into a bias. If both the gender just respect each other then maybe the need of feminism as well as meninism will not be there. This being said, I initially posted this comment bcoz after watching this series I felt like when you promote a series saying it is about the issues faced by urban women then I expect exactly that from it. While this touches some issues like misogyny, extra martial affairs, feminism, body shaming, these issues get completely foreshadowed by shots in every second scene and comparison of men's dick sizes, which by the way is disgusting. When you have an excellent cast like kirti, sayani and gagroo you expect a magical watching experience like the series" TRIP" , that they sadly do not deliver. I have no problem of them having fun and watching a purely entertaining series but then market it as a entertainment piece do not mislead viewers. I mean if sex and the city was a thing then certainly four more shots can be tolerated. Ok rant over .than you all!!!

why is the need to link it with feminism? Its just a show about 4 different girls and how they tackle the issues in their lives. Not every show with women in lead needs to prove a point. It can just be about life in general. Also, its a pure misconception that prviledged people are not supposed to have problems. Their issues maybe different from us. Regarding drinking, abuses and having flings....do we not find it normal had it not been a show about women? Men bonding over drinks is so normal! Feminism has got nothing to do with this...and by the way it means equality and liberty to do what one likes without being judged unless u r nor harming anyone. why be so judgemental?

Am I the only one who feels like except for around 10%, the rest of shows or contents related to women empowerment and feminism is like really bad. As a woman I just cannot relate to most of these so called women centric shows.
That's because some of those shows try to force feminism down our throats. I am a guy and I'm all in for feminism and gender equality but the forced feminism is what annoys me. Movies like panga, wonder woman, little women are amazing movies about women empowerment but then you have terrible movies with forced feminism like veere di wedding, captain Marvel and the Charlie's Angels reboot.
This is what women empowerment means to Bollywood. Their perception of a strong woman is quite evident. She smokes, drinks, sleeps around with strangers, hurls abuses and insults everyone who points fingers at her. That's nothing but pseudo - feminism. Quite obviously, such content is bound to fail. And I am actually glad it does, lest it may send a wrong message to the society we live in.
What's your point exactly? Women can do whatever they want. They're trying to normalise it. Pseudo feminism is when people think women are superior to men. This show only normalises the things that are already normal for men in your "society" and you clearly are missing the fact that the women on the show have functioning careers and are very smart people.
Listen no ones saying that smoking or drinking is good...but its a personal choice..very much like any other hero does in any alternate movie in bollywood its normal for women as well...its not good or bad but it happens and its okay...dont expect only women to be good they are also humans...and movies arent lessons they are mirror of the society

I think the major setback is that these shows are marketed as "The Show that will make you think", and there is little to no relatable content. I believe these shows are intended to work an escape, but they are marketed otherwise. If these shows are rather marketed as "another filler content", they might really stand apart.
You've analysed the series so well; from the badly written non-funny stand ups to better co-stars, every word you said makes so much sense! The first season was much better than the second, and like you mentioned, a lot of relatable yet attention needed aspects were brushed away.

I have a friend telling me men can't understand bold women. If we see carefully, these lives can be easily sorted. Damini can easily settle with Jay because he is faithful and giving his full, supporting her and doesn't intervene in her independence. Siddhi doesn't speak what she feels to the men of her life, whether her date or her ex. Umang solves everything but fails to stand up for herself in the relationship to the extent that it gets exhausting for herself. I am gonna be a stand up comic...eeeeyaaa because I tried doing lots of stuff on parents ka paisa and nothing works. My only skill set is to retort and ask for freedom in all manners. Is country ke naye fitness revolution ka naam hoga Umaang coz she is dating Samaira who will simply dictate their life after battling her depression. So basically here's one person who is physically fit but she intends to become emotionally unfit for someone. Then there is Anjana who always ruins the good things of her life and goes on an unwanted adventure for the heck of calling herself liberated. And Damini who has to be controversial whether it's her work or personal life. She will maintain a fuck buddy but won't get over the past or its baggage before starting a fresh relation. Loyalty is just too pricey. She is literally a woman on fire, time and again testing relations and situations in life. Nothing can be done normally, everything has to be in extremes, live, sarcasm, hatred, revenge, reaction, answers I somehow love them for the efforts they make but most of the efforts are in the wrong direction!
I have to say Jammy, this is one review of yours that I do not 100% agree with. Now, dont get me wrong. I would never encourage smoking/drinking as a means of being feminist. It is a harmful activity when practiced by any and all genders. Second point being, i dont think its fair to not let them have that moment of vulnerability just because they are priviledged. (In refernce to 2:19) When each of the characters finds themselves in real mess, it doesnt matter whether they are from SoBo or anywhere else. I did feel like you were nitpicking on points to highlight the negatives. Neither do i say that this is the best piece of art ever produced. It is filled with moments of hypocrisy and double standards. Always a fan.

There should be no difference in choices.
The series is like- Imagine a woman who is a mother wants to break the rules as she is frustrated She wants to hookup with many guys (maybe atleast 5). Want to have sex with people who are already married. Instead of expecting her husband and child to be get depressed by her actions she wants that for them these shits should be acceptable. Feminism is not the core message of the movie instead it tries to convince that how the current government is FACIST.
Hmm Ya even I think guys must too hv something better than discussing the same game of cricket analysis.... Guys can too have a better prospective in life.
I totally loved it!!! I don’t expect feminism to be justified in a show, I didn’t even expect it to have a social message!!! It has drama and masala. Enjoy and forget!!!
It is a combination of friends, HIMYM, Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Bridget Jones Baby, Yeh jawani hai Diwani, Veere di wedding and many many more lol. Its a pick up random storyline and fit it wherever possible
Nice review. I felt “four more shots” is similar to “veery ki wedding” in most aspects; you can be selfish and judge others but don’t want others to be judgemental for you. I also don’t think that feminism is all about drinking, abusing and having casual sex. Made in Heaven is much better series if you want to highlight women’s problems in modern world; you do feel it is real and may feel connected somewhere but not true for four more shots. Though one thing is good about four more shots is that it can help you to pass you time for one more day at the time of lockdown 😂😀😂
Why is everyone seeing this from the point of view of feminism? It's more about four friends going through their own stuff. I liked watching them enjoying themselves .Would you guys rather watch pyaar ka panchanama?
Let's give 4 more shots of poison to the makers of this series. I don't know what they took 4 more shots of to have the audacity to come up with a sequel?!
I want to know if ppl would be so outraged if there was a show made on guys who just drink or sleep around , oh wait there are many such shows and ppl find it normal🤐
I really disagree with you! I think it's only the first or max the second time I disagree with you!!! Well... That's ok I guess... I loved the show! It's real. Period. Maybe for only a section of society maybe not... But it is what it is... Idk how else to put it. It reaches the audience, you know? The characters ARE flawed! Why do we not criticize a male with such characteristics? I bring in that comparison cos it's due here. Why accept a man with the same flaws and make him a hero of sorts (don't ask me for examples...you know there are many) but refuse to accept that women can be flawed too???!!!! It's ok to be flawed no?! We all are. We're human and humans are flawed. As a woman who has lived 36 years of life, I know these are the realities of many women. It's ok if EVERYONE can't relate. But that doesn't take away from the series. It is catering to one section of society and to that section it is relatable. That's all that matters. Yes feminism is not only about drinking or smoking or having casual sex (like that shit movie veere Di wedding portrayed! And I dare you to see the difference). But it IS about all those other things you get to see in the series and it shows you that no matter how strong or how much of a feminist you want to be, there are certain situations in life that will force you to screw up. And that's that. I mean for God's sake! You found something positive to say about Kabir Singh! A drug addict doctor on duty who molests women with a knife to their throat!!!! And you don't like this?!!! Come on!!!Sorry just went on and on. Bye now. Haha.
I agree with you. I was scrolling through the negative comments and came across something positive for the show. Why so much hate for a show that probably they haven’t seen amuses me.
1st of all not all like charecters like kabir singh for such habits. And I personally hate it. But You want to justify it with the comparison instead of telling both wrong. The worst thing about people like you is you desire respect for such disgusting things.
@@taichikonto827 what was disgusting!? Showing women with desires!? Showing powerful women? Showing independent women!? Showing their sex life? Showing their mistakes and how vulnerable they can be despite all that and can make bad decisions and choices? I am not comparing Kabir Singh with this one.. I am saying this one also shows flawed characters just like that movie did because this guy gave a positive review to that movie and he needs to hear a context of where I'm coming from... I'm saying that although flawed, they're paying for their mistakes in this series unlike in Kabir Singh where he is getting rewarded in life and at the end getting everything he wants. At least the women in this series are facing real consequences of mistakes they're doing and the makers have the balls to show mistakes as mistakes... Flaws. They're not saying make all the mistakes you want like having an affair with a married man, you will be fine at the end. No. They show that it's always a mistake to get involved with a married man. They show us how people get carried away. And they show us how if you make a mistake, no matter who you are, you'll pay for it. Please read my first comment also again. If you still don't understand please refrain from arguing further as I won't be here convincing someone who thinks i need to be shamed for my opinions. You have yours. I have mine. Period (should I be ashamed of using that word too! Omg! I said period! How shameful! Wow!)
I didn't watch the series but you put a genuine and good description of series. So yeah I would say creators like you should review all the aspects of content and people should be able for themselves that they like it or dislike it. Just like Kabir Singh can be watched as fun or cringing romance or Thappad as inspiring or man hating. It is your choice as long as Government not ban it which seems like their go to move for anything turning controversial.
I mean whats the problem?? It never claimed to be a trend setter or a massive change wala series anyways.. it's just a series about friendship. I quite liked the series because honestly the girls weren't cursing men all around and telling how men are dogs etc... just as men's locker room talk this is a friendship story. I agree with Anmol on how constantly they seek each other's validation but trust me in your mid twenties or thirties when you've seen life..you constantly seek for that one solid support system that is always with you..without judgment without questions... Because mistakes are bound to happen no matter what.. I loved the segment when Anj's frnds warns her to not be with a married man yet she indulges...later when she is caught she walks up to the man ask kinds blames him..but this time the man shows her the mirror..he simplifies for her..that it wouldn't have been different even if you have known the truth... Also the show doesn't pretend.. like Bani's character they visit a retreat to get over depression... the show never promised us to show a hardcore reality.. I mean thats exactly what life is...but in such a mess a solid frndshp is what saves you. Yes there's uncanny resemblance with FRIENDS or HIMYM but this is our desi version..I feel it's better to give it a watch and give it a thought.. 1st world or 3rd a problem is a problem. I really quite liked the show... I don't endorse it..neither do I aspire to be one of them. But I liked it.
Good work Jammy. Now fellas, it's a show, with it's own flaws and it may come across as highly pretentious. So I watched the first season while in lockdown, as I had no new 'supplies', I had this series in my laptop for a long time, so I thought why not let's give this thing s watch. Now, while I wasn't totally impressed, but I was satisfied that yeah the relevant issue portrayed in the show were right on point. Please understand, not every show with female leads is about Women Empowerment. You're free to criticize the show, but don't do that on the grounds of feminism. Har cheeze feminism SE related nhi hoti. And stop dictating what feminism is.
Wait what...😯😯 did u saw that board written 'sorry for the inconveniences that we are trying to change the world'. They are definitely doing it but on the brink of collapse. Why the hell these shows don't get banned.
The problem with these kinds of TV shows is that they focus more on the sexual life of individuals just to get more eyeballs. As you correctly said that they are trying to showcase problems faced my first world women, then why not focus on the problems themselves and their constant endeavor to solve them. They just try to avoid those by getting drunk and having small talks and the next time they are sober, they are back to complaining.
I understand what are you trying to say by not demeaning the series also... actually in out culture it's very hard to open about sex and all these stuffs...I agree with you at some point they showed much larger version...but why to judge everytime about these things...girls can also live their lives the way they want if they are privileged...not only girls but everyone...In my view I think we should stop judging and just live our lives the way we want.
When Umang runs out of her marriage at the altar, it was too cliche moment. Then she reunites with her friends and tells that they are enough for her. 🙄🙄🙄 Like what, you were vowing to love and take care of Samara an hour ago, and now suddenly you FILP. This deliberate, irrational cliffhanger was not NECESSARY.
Throughout the series it was shown that Bani felt exhausted and lost as individual in that relationship, loving Samara was a different thing, but she was not happy to be treated at 2nd priority by her partner everytime.
The all feminism in this series is how Anjum fight with their colleague for all her hard work she have done for that firm and how Damini does hrdwork to publish her own book. Any thing else is jst rubbish

I completely agree with you ., actually my thoughts about this web series are exactly the same. I understand the makers of this web series try everything to break stereotypes and show unconventional things but the direction is so weak that it all looks very fake. It looks as if they are trying very hard to show what they want to show. There are too many unnecessary scenes, drama, twists, and turns. Really disappointed watching the second season of this show.
Wow..one of the best reviews.I loved how as you said did not do moral policing but reviewed the show .I like the objectivity used and coming from a guy ( not that all guys have regreesive thinking but the ones active on social media are either mysogynist or preachy ).Reviewing the content for what it is and not the concept , people can't make a differentiation of it.Whatever shown in the show actully happens , may be within small sections .People have their own issues and to call ones issue smaller or bigger is not my say or to say these are no real issues is like comparing eveything with - you know there are kids dying in Africa.Problems cannot be compared.Having said that the show lacked the honesty of work and chacraters .The makers are not so mature to handle such issues .I have no issues with the concepts shown but the way whooe thing is executed. The chracters are loud and crass and become highly unlikeable. As you righlty said they keep shifting their opinion and hence come across as shallow and you can't in reality define one of them. They end up coming across as rebel wihout a cause and lose a good opputunity to showcase some real issue with sense and senstivity.Their is no subtely and eveything is just on the face.If the very similar thing is made by Zoya akhtar or Meghna Gulzar the whole thing would be just a treat.

I have no problem of them having fun and watching a purely entertaining series but then market it as a entertainment piece do not mislead viewers.

why is the need to link it with feminism? Its just a show about 4 different girls and how they tackle the issues in their lives. Not every show with women in lead needs to prove a point. It can just be about life in general. Also, its a pure misconception that prviledged people are not supposed to have problems. Their issues maybe different from us. Regarding drinking, abuses and having flings....do we not find it normal had it not been a show about women? Men bonding over drinks is so normal!

Nothing can be done normally, everything has to be in extremes, live, sarcasm, hatred, revenge, reaction, answers
I somehow love them for the efforts they make but most of the efforts are in the wrong direction!

Bye now. Haha.

As you correctly said that they are trying to showcase problems faced my first world women, then why not focus on the problems themselves and their constant endeavor to solve them. They just try to avoid those by getting drunk and having small talks and the next time they are sober, they are back to complaining.
It's like a BuzzFeed India's remake of the iconic sex and the city.
I loved women centric movies too like mary kom & panga, queen etc etc.. But too much is bad for everything.
When Umang runs out of her marriage at the altar, it was too cliche moment. Then she reunites with her friends and tells that they are enough for her.
🙄🙄🙄
Like what, you were vowing to love and take care of Samara an hour ago, and now suddenly you FILP.
So this is basically Sex and the City but with budget issues, Script issues & maybe acting issues😊
For people who think they can't relate this show with their daily lives... I am sorry this is not made for you. You are Broke. It's meant for people who want to Drink & Drink & Drink after that go to Europe for Hangover and in the way you can Enjoy Sex too.
End Peace.
So less than 5% of the Indian population
@@kudlitegaming Bollywood & Indian Television belongs to the 5%...the rest of us just stupidly waste our money and time to make them celebrities..
NDTV Review: Consistently smart writing and irresistibly peppy performances ensure the line between frothy and flimsy isn't breached.
Bro, this show got an emmy nomination!
*the actor, not the show, the actors are talented, the material is bad
The truth is we never could make the subtle distinction between modernization and westernization. We should learn from countries like Japan, China, South Korea, etc which achieved high levels of modernization in every aspect while never compromising on their ancient cultures.
its veere ki wedding series. don't show actual life.
My exact thought was "see dil dhadkane do, if you want to show problems of rich people"
Thank you Jammy for mentioning it
Just because a show includes four women as the leads does not mean the show is about feminism. It is simply about their friendship and life.
Someone said it! Thank you
I completely agree with you ., actually my thoughts about this web series are exactly the same.
No need to watch this series,
It's going to waste of time even in lockdown
Who has watched The Forgotten Army on prime?
No me!!! But I will in coming weeks...
By the way you should also watch the man in high castle....
@@itsallaboutme9779 was one of a kind show...but the finale 🙄
Very well put... You are a rare gem in the critics circuit of our country.❤️❤️❤️
If anyone actually want to watch feminist shows - try big little lies or the handmaid's tale.
Big little lies is one of my favourite....
Watch 'the tale' on hotstar.
It's amazing
They never say its about feminism people. If it was about the struggles of women the name wouldn't be four more shots.
Agreed.
