I like him a lot from what i see he needs to manipulate the defense more. I think he's going to be special if groomed properly. It's something about this kid. My spidey senses are tingling 🕷
I agree, I don’t know why it is but I really feel something special with Sam Howell. This is a very different feeling from other quarterbacks we’ve had before
@@lizardluminals9324 A lot of people compared him to Carson and Taylor hybrid. He's got the elusiveness, and the arm. I really do hope Taylor took him under his wing and helped the rookie. . . Not so much for Wentz though.
This young man is capable of making plays. Just give him more starting experience and I think he will figure it out quick. He can make all the throws, he stands tough in the face of pressure, he’s hard to bring down and he can run and pick up yards. Definitely a keeper!
Thought I would jump in and say we blew it. We had a hot streak with mini Fitzmagic but Wentz put the nail in the coffin. We might get to see the rookie against Dallas next week.
5th rounder at 22 years old and I think he’ll be in the league for a very long time. The young man is talented no doubt. Whenever he’s surrounded by a talented RB and 1-2 above average WR’s, you’ll hear his name every week. 2 to 3 years tops and he’ll be a starter for 10+ years.
His arm strength is nuts, he can zip a ball into tight windows and hit deep passes. His biggest flaw right now is his release is a bit on the slow side, luckily that’s coachable. He can be great if he can speed that up.
Sam Howell is very talented. He has a great arm strength, accuracy, and good mobility. Plus he's had a ton of starts. He could be a good nfl qb. We'll have to see what happens.
@Washington Highlights From what I have seen he gets the ball off in time and doesn't seem hurried. When a QB makes hood decisions the delivery can look slow ut still be timely.
Something I noticed watching Howell film from college and preseason (from a Dolphins fan): 1) When he throws a catchable but imperfect pass, the ball is placed on the low side. While obviously a perfectly placed ball is better, erring on the low side (rather than overthrow) protects receivers and reduces interceptions. This is more pronounced on crossing routes, which makes me think it's intention and that he's actively looking to protect his receivers and the ball. 2) He has a nice compact throwing motion. Not the best I've seen, but solid mechanics. Opens his shoulders well on deep balls, providing nice arc. 3) He is able to get through his progressions and does not tunnel vision on the number 1 option. In this category, I think he will be elite. 4) Stays composed in a closing pocket and does not scramble compulsively. Unfortunately, he is still patting the ball when waiting for routes to develop. This will lead to a couple interceptions, and plenty more batted balls if he doesn't get rid of it.
Watching this now a year later you really get to pay attention to Scott turners horrible plays he was calling and all them TE we never saw the whole season it's mind blowing..Sam the only QB using his TE it's crazy

Washington gonna do what chiefs did. Despite how good Alex Smith played, next season they started Pat because he was ready. Despite how good Carson will play this year Howell will start
That’s one way it could go. Thank god we locked Carson at a deal where we can bail if he doesn’t perform this season up to par. If Washington was REAL smart, they’d of been looking to see what Howell looked like WITH the starters PLAYING against starters. Is there not question as to who would you rather have a QB #2, Taylor Heinicke or Sam Howell? That’s sort of an an important dilemma that COULD come to question if god forbid Wentz goes down. I like what I see from Howell and I know what I get from Heinicke with the starters, so that’s why I’d be interested to see what he’d look like with the 1sts stringers.

The fact he didn’t play until the final game of the regular season is an indictment of the ineptitude of Scott and Ron. Howell was the most skilled QB on our roster last year. I believe the future is bright for him. EB will tailor an offense that will accentuate his talent.
I hope Ron Revera is smart enough to understand that he has the starter in Sam Howell and arguably the best backup in the NFL in Taylor Heineke. All he needs to do is make sure he addresses the offenceve line and hire a new offencive coordinator.

I know this was preseason football and not much is shown from either team but it’s hard not to believe this kid fell this far in draft because of an “bad season” in North Carolina his final year. I can’t be the only one who sees the potential he has and should have been considered at some point in Washington season. No knock against Taylor he made this season interesting and competitive but Ron should have went to Sam to get things in motion for next season when Carson went down after Bears game. That is missed game experience and reps for his growth as a NFL QB. We all knew at that point in season the team was not SB contenders and Ron should have been looking to evaluate the roster
Reminds me of Heineke except he has a much better arm. I like what I see…he has a lot of heart, pretty good wheels, and a fairly strong arm. If he were only three inches taller, I’d say he is the future.
