- I went to Forest City expecting to add to the many UA-cam videos of gloom and doom about the US$100 million future city project which has been beset by problems.
But in the end I just had a great time with my friend and would highly recommend it as a place to take your kids if Desaru is too far to travel. (I know I said Mersing, but I meant Desatu)

Hey Thanks for the mention! Great to see Leo! It sure is hard to find good friends these days. The city looks promising and very nice! They need people there asap to keep it maintained before it goes too far south.
Maintenance is a foreign concept here. It's usually wait until it breaks and abandon it.

I will try to contact Forest City Management & give them suggestions. They definitely need Events to keep it alive
This project is lack of the Business Concept - should turn the 4 Artificial Islands into 4 Major Hubs & inter related.
Events will be the natural maintenance mechanism for Forest City. The event will also change the Ghost City image induced by the Ex PM Mahathir

Would love to visit if it isn't too far. Hard to venture out of the JB city - Skudai - Austin triangle without a car. Waiting for Grab would take forever.
Yeah not a journey to do in a Grab, you would struggle to find a car at Forest City to take you back

I'm curious, what stopping the people to live there?
It's quite a long way from the Centre of Johor and there are plenty of nice developments closer to the city that are finished and won't be a building site for the next 20 years

@@labamba282The phase 1 failure was due to the Termination of the HSR, China monetary outflow tightening and MM2H (Foreigner Visa program) restriction.
The project was mainly attracting China expat to live and stay as a second home/villas/kid for international school, once the MM2H restriction was lifted, it was still an attractive destination. Of course, hope the price could be cheaper or affordable
$100 billion project with 3000 residences in it is not defined as doomed & gloom? What’s that then.

Stay there at your own cost. Please be aware that forest city is built on reclaimed land. Is the site foundation and building quality up to standard ? Has the developer taken into consideration and control when sea level rises due to global climate change ?
Nothing was taken into consideration other than profit for the developers and the cost of bribes to get the project approved.
This place is only good for tourists (both local and foreign). But living here is like living in a cemetery! Out of all the units here only 1% is living as an owners, most of the investors who own some do not live here. You can see how empty the place is, not even a coffee shop is open, most businesses are closed! The government should buy the remaining units and turn it to housing accommodation for poor Malaysian people.
